If you look only at the final score this apeares to be just another Katy cake walk win over an outclassed opponent. However, if you were at the game it sure didn't feel that way. Cy Creek forced the Tigers to lift their game up to a level I haven't seen from them this season. Katy let off the gas pedal twice in the game and both times Cy Creek drove the ball right down the field for TD's. Katy's starters were in until Will Thompson's punt return made it 53-14 in the fourth quarter.

With the exception of that return and the center snap over the punters' head for a safety, I thought Cy Creeks' special teams were superior to ours all night long.

Congratulations to Cy Creek on a great season, there wan't one ounce of quit or give up in your team, and I applaud them for that. Cy Creek: Texas 5A playoff caliber team? No quiestions from me about those credentials.

however, some of their players had no class at all, like wr #12, who shoulda been ejected after chest bumping the head linesman. what a tool

they must not teach class at cy-creek. The student section chanting "bulls**t" all night? all the personal fouls on the players? The coaches didn't react either and left the kids in the game.

The Creeks punt return team did cost them big time with the fumble for a Katy TD. It was the beginning to the end.

You are correct, I forgot about that play.

if i remember correctly (which my head injury may not allow) there was 1 PF against creek and 1 PF against katy. seems even?

I think #12 got a second one and was ejected.

Oh...and the fumbled KO that Katy recovered and ran in for a touchdown...then there was the fumbled punt that Katy recovered at the CC 10.

Other than that I would agree their special teams were great tonight

I agree, CC's special team did play well for Katy (Go Katy special teams)...

2 PF's for Creek. 1 against Katy for a late hit. Both PF's for Creek was committed by #12 who was ejected. The rest of the game was played clean and hard by both teams.

Katy showed it could score it about every facet of the game against Cy Creek. If not for two uncharacteristic underthrows on open receivers downfield, the Tigers end up with 60+ in this one.

Agreed.

Not to mention the snap over the punters head in the endzone which resulted in a safety.

I know that Cy Creek had a few good runs on returns, but they also had huge mistakes (see above). I hardly think anyone can say CC's special teams was superior last night. CC had two good scoring drives and two picks...other than that, I Katy domiated the game through and through.

I thought Creek executed well except for the high snap that resulted in a safety for Katy. Overstreet is a good QB.

I believe the Katy secondary defense and special team created turnovers by agressively stepping up. Thompson, Konesheck and Hunter did some amazing work.

Katy defense did allow the run up the middle to get through a few times more than usual during the first half. Other than that, Katy played excellent ball.

Next guest up for the Katy Invitational is Beaumont Westbrook.

I'll be there. I'll be easy to find.

Just look for the guy wearing a red shirt. :D

I don't understand this comment. We get a safety and a punt returned for a touchdown and their special teams were better than ours.

The linebacker #2 had some issues. Got in the ref's face about something a couple of times. He and Welch were dueling it out. Welch got the better of him. The coaches attitudes towards the players unsportsmanlike conduct is typical for this school and most of this community there. They have always played that way if you remember when we were in district with them. Quite a few spoiled brats attend there. Coaches must have to give in to the tantrums of the kids for fear of the parents.
Their D was better than some we have played. Their O just got a few plays strung together a couple of times and scored. Katy dominated! All facets of this game.
Westbrook will be a different kind of challenge. It will be fun to see how they approach this team and how things turn out. Expect a nice crowd again this weekend, even if it is Thanksgiving. We either go out of town for dinner and rush back by Friday evening as not to miss the game. Or, have family in and take them to the game. No better way to celebrate Thanksgiving!!

I can't hardly imagine Thanksgiving weekend without Katy football.

I wouldn't know what to do.

Go Big Red! :)
