This game is huge in 18-5a for determining who goes to the playoffs... if we win it nearly guarantees us a spot and if we lose then it opens up the pandora's box of tie breaker scenarios...:D

Winner gets Katy!........might want to take a dive!:D
Just Kidding....Stratford should win this one....and could screw up everyone's plans with a win over Strake the following week.

the winner doesnt necessarily get Katy... If Stratford wins they get Katy... if they miss the playoffs altogether (which will be hard because they beat Taylor... But it is possible...) then Memorial plays Katy... And that would be one heck of a first round game... But Id rather play Katy Taylor in the first round (just cuz im more confident in a win - but not because we cant win)...
This will be one heck of a game... I pick Stratford winning this one 24-21 on a last minute score... Not sure if I think it will be a field goal or a TD

I think they will win...either way....I would love to go to Tully for a playoff game.

haha with Jose and Jesus we do have some solid kicking... also we are finally opening up our offense and giving a bunch of different looks... early in the season we were strictly spread, but had trouble running the ball and then against spring woods and northbrook we tightened up our game and threw in a tight end formation almost every play... this week we really plan on combining these and completely opening up to give looks that no one has seen... dont be surprised to see Lil' Rodney at QB

I hope we win this one, playing katy would be an incredible experience, and it is something i really want to do in my high school career(just kinda see what the real deal is like). also this game could possibly break attendence records. With Tully's huge max capacity, as well as the largest(Katy) and most devoted(Stratford) fan bases in the houston area... it would be really cool to see tully literally filled with people... Its weird to think that ive gone from playing in front of less than 100 people at tully(Tully Bowl-Little League) to possibly playing in front of something like 10 thousand... just really bizarre:D

I'd much rather Katy play Stratford... pretty much for the same reasons you listed. The game would definitely have to be at Tully.

I think Stratford will win this one. Elsik doesn't pass well, and they're unimaginative on offense. Their strength is the run which plays to Stratford strength. I think Stratfords defense is pretty good. The held Hastings to 9 points and I think going into that game Hasting offense had been fairly productive.
Memorial will ease past Hastings. Not to much difference between Hastings and Elsik. Hasting QB passes better, but the recievers can't catch. The kid who's the world class 200m sprinter is fast but not as fast as I'd expected (you don't really see it in his first 50-60 yards). I'm guessing as a 200mm runner his speed kicks in later. To bad the field is only 100m long.

How does playing a power running team play into SHS's hands when they are giving up about 170 per game on the ground at 4.5 per pop (accd to the Chron)? I agree that a one dimensional offense is much easier to stop, but teams have run on SHS and they've shown an inability to get the other team's offense off the field.

I agree... I think it will only be low scoring because they will both have prolonged drives that last a while... But I wouldnt be surprised if they both score more... Im pulling for Stratford (at least lose by less than 7 - that should get them in because they beat Taylor by 7)...

Because I think your front four is pretty decent. And, as you mentioned it easier to stop a one dimensional offense.

ya. we give up some yards running.. but so do all.. we just have been givin up a little bit more.. but thats also because majority of the teams we have to worry about the pass more. With elsik, who will run 19 out 20 plays, we dont have to worry that much about the pass.. instead of having 7 guys in the box.. we will have close to 8 or 9. and with the 4-5 offensive plays they run its pretty easy to pick up on which play they are running....
Also, katy vrs stratford... HUGE game!!! it will be like stratford vrs cy-fair last year... which was a sick game
I know you guys aren't looking ahead, but where will the Stratford/Strake game be played? Tully?

Dont be surprised if it isnt the best of games... Id say Strake wins by 3 TDs

Well *Looking ahead, both are possible playoff opponets for Katy....so would be good to see both in action
*A big No-No....I know there is still a lot that can happen.

I didnt have time to make a thread yesterday... So Ill just put my picks here
Stratford over Elsik in a close one
Memorial dominates Hastings
Strake Jesuit dominates Spring Woods
Taylor dominates Northbrook
Theres my predictions with a lot less wording

I agree with all those picks. This district has played out almost exactly as I thought it would, but it helps when two teams are pretty much out of the running before the season starts.
The only team that surprises me is Hastings. They've been quite inconsistent; something tells me they're gonna give Memorial a fight tomorrow night. Not win, but make it competitive.

I agree with the picks too... with us there is no way of knowing... we have had perhaps the best week of practice we've had all year, and we have shown to well in saturday games(or the one we've had... Alief Taylor) so i think this plays well for us... I expect LB campbell colyer to really impress people as definately one of the better players on the team (somewhere near the lead in terms of tackles.) and offensively i think we have the upper hand since we have played the same base defense for 3 weeks in a row... (Woods, Brook, and Elsik all run variations of a 5-2 w/ cover 4) and we have just started to really click... what absolutely sucks is that a major piece in the puzzle that is our offense, RB/Slot Receiver, is out for the season... I really hope that JR WR Derrick Platt steps up and has a good game, being the fastest football player at stratford and holds the record along with CB's Eric Odom and Roland Rodriguez for some relay.... hahaha.
I really hope that everyone comes to the game since it has such huge implications, and sits on the stratford side...:D
