Help me with the thought process here.
Shouldn't the "All Texas Teams" list match up with the "Top Ten Position Players" list?
For example.......The All Texas Team has 12 wide receivers combined on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd teams. You would think that the top ten receivers would fill out that list, and vice versa.
However, Gary Myers and Eddie Murillo are on the 2nd team, which you would think should make them one of the top 8 players at that position in the state. But, a look at the Top Ten players at WR shows neither player.
On the flip side, Derron Montgomery shows to be the 7th highest rated WR, and Dez Byant is #9, yet neither is on any of the All Texas Teams.......what gives?

Top 10 Players factors in recruiting status/pure talent much more so than the All-Texas teams which are more production based. Montgomery had the numbers to be considered for All-Texas, but there were a ton of receivers to choose from.

I guarantee you Dez Bryant won't be #9 come December.
as far as your question. the only thing I can think of is...
it's like someone having the highest batting average in the league...
being considered one of the top players and not making the
all-star team...sometimes it just beeez like that.

Agree about Dez. I just want to see what he can do over the course of an entire season as one of the main men, and not a "super sub" like he was last year when he moved up.

When I saw this earlier about Dez. Your "super sub" was exactly what I was thinking. I'm sure he will be a good one. He just needs to prove it over a season. Which I'm sure he will.

I agree that Dez made a impact when he came from JV to start two games for us.He has the size and speed to be a good one, but let,s don,t jinx this kid by making him a super star yet. Let him prove what he can do and I think he will.We need another big time reciever to really be effective this year with Lane gone. We had a super recevier in 2001-2003 , a undersize kid name Holman who could catch with anyone in the state. He made tall db,s walk away shaking their heads, let,s hope that Dez can step in and duplicate that for the panthers.

hey, thomas, gordon, and shankle are very capable of putting up huge numbers also. it is not just dez even though i think he will be special. this wr group is loaded. raines can make some plays also as a backup. raph thomas is one of the best overall athletes i have ever seen in hs.
