I know but if Judson wins they will play spriing westfield at Judson or alamo stadium..........Judson should beat harlingen , I saw them play Reagan first week they have some size and strength but they will not be able to keep up with Judson's team speed. I say Judson 31 Harlingen 14.................

yeah and that should be a win for westfield, 45 to 17 , westfield wins division one title this year. north shore was the only team in division one that had a chance at them and westfield beat them by 13pts so go figure who wins it all.

Where did you want the game, D? I'm glad they didn't flip home and home. Kingsville is not too bad of a drive from either SA or Harlingen, especially on a long holiday weekend.
I personally like Buccaneer Stadium in Corpus Christi, but Kingsville's stadium was my 2nd choice. If you are going to the game, stop and get lunch in Corpus Christi. There is NOTHING good to eat in Kingsville, save fast food. I am a big Whataburger fan, but sometimes you don't want fast food.
I think its gonna be Judson's size that kills us. Our D- line is really small, and our O-line ain't that big either. Plus, I have yet to see Harlingen play a mistake free game, and that is what we would need to have a prayer against Judson.
I'm still gonna go, though. I would hate to have missed it if this was "THE" year, besides, true fans go when they think their team will lose. Judson is down a little bit, but I'd still have to be crazy to pick my Cards in this one.

Frdiay, 6pm. Harlingen does have some good running backs. Judson can't overlook the Cards. Rockets need to come out fired up and play with the same intensity that they had against Reagan.

There is a good Mexican food restaurant right off the main drag close to the stadium but dang if I can remember the name of it right now. It is between the college and Highway 77.

If Judson could not play at home, I would have preferred Buc stadium in Corpus also. The last time I was in Kingsville was 1994 when Judson played Harlingen and I thought that stadium was a dump then ( not that our stadium is anything to right home about). I wonder if there have been in renovations since.

DW,
Harlingen played Judson at Buc stadium in 1994. I remember because we played back to back games in Corpus, we beat Carroll and lost to ya'll. You must be thinking of a different game in Kingsville.
That '94 game was a heck of a game. Harlingen featured Maurice Hunter, the Texas 5a- offensive MVP. That was the Harlingen team that had a real shot at beating a SA team. They got intimidated. Judson jumped up BIG in the first half, but the second half was all Harlingen, Judson did hang on for a 29-20 win.
Our running game is our strength this year, we have 3 backs that could all start, and they all have different strengths. You really almost have to condsider our QB a running back too. He is big, fast, and not afraid to lower his head and run at you.
This team is a much better team than the one that got blown out against SA Reagan, they have done a lot of growing, but I still think our lack of size will be a killer.

One thing that hasn't changed is your team speed and Harlingen is a few steps behind Judson when it comes to team speed. and I hope Harlingen passes the ball because if all you do is run now its going to be a long day for Harlingen, To have a chance you will have to pass against Judson's defense. I do not feel you guys are any better than Seguin who Judson just shut down. If Judson comes out flat thinking about Westfield then it might be a closer game, but I still say it will be Judson 31 Harlingen 14....GO ROCKETS GO.......

I have to take everything firebird is saying with a grain of salt. Harlingen is due a win against a SA team. They get here almost evry year. The law of averages will catch up, someday. Good luck Cards. It should be a great game.
Rocketman

The laws of average will not catch up to a san antonio team this year, they will have to wait one more year.
Ive seen harlingen a few times this year..they are defenitly not the same team they where when they faced Raegan..This team is better than the La Joya team that Judson played last year and Judson is NOT the same team they where last year they are down this year but still tough and solid.
Harlingen brings 3 backs including the QB who was not a QB instead a WR turned QB..not afraid to run and lower his shoulders like a RB and is pretty quick..they can also pass the ball well and have recievers who are not afraid to make that catch in the middle and get hit..there speacial teams unit as far as kicking is very good and Long FGs wont be a problem..now special teams kickoffs might be as they give up big chunks there..there soul on the D is the middle LB will be the one who has to stop Judson rushing attack and i believe he has the size and strength to get in there and make some stops..but I know Judson is also a diff. team and is passing now..this is where the diff will be this year..
I think Harlingen can play with judson for about 2 maybe even 2.5 qtrs but late in the 3rd if Harlingen is limping around is where the game will be decided..

The name of the restaurant is El Jardin. It has been over five years since I have eaten there but they always had a lot of locals in the restaurant.

Does it really matter where this game is played? They could play it in the middle of the Gulf on an Air Craft Carrier and CJ would still stomp the daylights out of them!
hmm...the last time Harligen and Judson played it was 29-20 not what i would call a stomp..but they did have a back that ran all over judson who was D1 so who knows..I just know that harlingen plays tough and will give it there all even if they lose..

I think they will play with Judson for about 2 1/2 Qtrs and then Judson will pull away from them Judson 31 Harlingen 14..............
yea I see judson pulling away in the middle of the 3rd qtr. more overall teamspeed and more depth...

One thing Harlingen does that gives teams fits is run out any number of offensive sets. The coaches decide what they are gonna do based on the strengths of the other team. You literally never know what the O is gonna do on any given night. Heck, I've seen us start out of the shotgun and coem out at halftime in the I. We run a lot of shotgun and spread sets, but for some games have gone primarily out of the I, we also have single and three-back sets. It really keeps the other team on their toes, and is a huge advantage over valley teams-- we have more formations than many teams have plays.
Running the football is, however, our strength. QB has a cannon, but makes questionable throws, which he absolutely CANNOT do against Judson. I don't think it is gonna be team speed here, Rocketman, at least not on O. Our problem is the same problem most Valley teams have-- a lack of a combination of size and speed. Many of kids on the field are truly great athletes, but so are Judsons-- but Judson's have several inches and pounds on our players.
The real legit D-1 prospect for Harlingen is our punter, ya'll are in for a treat to watch him kick.(No surprise-- of the 2 Harlingen graduates to play pro ball, one was a punter-- valley kids can often flat out kick) Not only can he boom it (legit 86-yarder), he can place it anywhere on the field, he is the best directional kicker I have seen in High School athletics, RGV player or not. He has received interest from several Big-12 schools, and is looking for a place where he can play soccer and kick as well.
I will never stoop to the level of picking my team to lose, but I will say that the deck is heavily stacked against us. Judson's combo of size and speed is what poses the real problem.

This should be a better game then most Judson fans want, and I think that Harlingen could pull this one off. I think that Judson is already starting to think about Westfeild, why I do not know but will lose focus on this game. If Harlingen can keep Judson and its crowd out of this early could give the valley a playoff victory over a San Antonio team. After that well Harlingen will get blown away by Westfield, which might possibly do Judson a favor by not havinig to play them that to would be real ugly.

I agree this will be a better game than most think , Lets face it Judson played one hell of game against Reagan to get into the playoffs, so if Harlingen does beat Judson , you just beat a team that was almost out of the playoffs to start with. If Harlingen wants to brag about beating a san antonio team have them play Smithson Valley and S.V. would have them beat by half time. So don't get so excited about beating a weak Judson team and I love my Rockets but this is one of the weakest teams I've seen in a long time. Their offense is not very good and they have an average Defense this year so I'm just glad they made the playoffs this year win or lose tomorrow night. Doesn't matter Spring Westfield is going to Roll who ever wins this game.

TexasRed6x & Rocketman, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. To think that Judson could lose to this Valley team is like picking them to lose to Lee. Not gonna happen. And do you really think Rackley would let them look ahead to Westfield? Not a chance. Have some faith in your team. Do you mean to tell me that you honesly think Harlingen is better then Reagan,Seguin or O'Connor? Please !!!! Where is Lonny when you need him?

I read that, but didn't respond because the system was running slow. It was the most ridiculous thing Judson fans have said all year. I don't know why there is a complete lack of faith in the Rockets. I know some of these guys were at that Bowie-Judson game with the 32 point comeback. They were at the Midland game in 2002. It's not time to jump the Rocket ship yet!

I don't know how long rocketman has been around, but I think it's been a while. Red6X has been around since the 70's. I'm just surprised that a team that last won a title 3 years ago and might play in their 3rd semifinal in the last 4 years has fans with no confidence.

I can agree with the position of some people here who suggest that Judson needs to be very meticulous about preps for its meeting with Harlingen. In view of overall performances this season, that's understandable, as is the high level of trepidation of what might await Judson the following week if they live to play another day this evening. What I find rather distasteful is to read of some glowing posts about how well Judson will do today, but in the same post about the massacre that is automatically "scheduled" to occur next week---sort of like their subliminally cynical view of "eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die."
I for one don't plan on losing either today, next week, or the week after. Now, obviuosly the challenge that lies before Judson is very steep indeed, but a little Apollo 13-lke tiger team effort from everyone will vastly improve whatever result does occur---hopefully improve it well enough to get three more w's, and at the very least ensure that the team "goes the distance" with dignity, however long that distance still may be. Historically, the Judson Rockets have been at their best when they're the "Judson Rocky's."
Remember the words to the song:
Trying hard now
it's so hard now
trying hard now
Getting strong now
won't be long now
getting strong now
Gonna fly now
flying high now
gonna fly, fly, fly...
And, hopefully flying REALLY high---as in a Judson Rocket/Judson "Rocky."

I like your poetry of words. I'm going to keep it simple. I think Judson wins tonight and they get a pseudo home game next week against a top opponent. In less than 24 hours, they're going to be 2 wins away from a title. They're too close for me to not believe they can pull off some patented magic from the past. Judson has not played well in Houston in the playoffs, but they have played well in San Antonio. I'm going down with the ship, but that also means I'm staying on board for the victory. I wish I could be down there for the Westfield game next week and for Ike's show!:p

Thats right I've been around a long time since the 70's and I even played for Judson and this year's team is lucky to be in the playoffs. I saw some things this year that made me want to talk to those guys and remind them who they played for but one big thing is the times have changed and the kids have too. When I played you didn't see the crap you see now and I know Rackley has had a tough year with this bunch of kids. I just hope they can pull it out tonight because I'm not some FWF as you call it , I call it like I see it and Judson will not beat Spring Westfield next week, Just like when we played Dallas Carter going into that game I knew we didn't have a chance in $$$$ they were just to physical and better than we were if you can't stand the truth then go somewhere else. Rocket Pride will live on thanks to Coach Rackley, Rackley keep those kids in line, I know you will.

Well, my money would be on judson solely on the fact that valley vs. SA's record is so terrible, they might be a good team but i just dont see that happenin, not with judson anyway ill take em 34-10
BTW anyone know why judson continues to wear those baggy/loose jersies? that has to be some sort of drawback seeming as theres more for any teams D to grab onto. i'm all for throwbacks and everything but they should get some tighter ones, keep the same design, just tighter
