31-39 for 380 yards, 4 tds, 0 INTS. 80 passer rating.
I gotta say that HUM had it pegged with this kid. I look forward to watching him for years to come. I also have to give our offensive coaches a lot of credit, as the unit has truly improved throughout the year. Working with a banged up and bad line, a two converted QBs at WR and TE and a bunch of kids who never played in a pass heavy O on the college level, they've done a great job. Unlike Fran, this staff has shown a willingness to adjust their schemes to the players they have.
A small bright spot, but a bright spot nonetheless. I think we win more than 3 games next year, and I like our chances against Baylor at this point. Won't pencil in a win, or even say we should be favored, but I'm less scared than I was when Big XII play kicked off.

I called it. I knew this kid had potential. 15 tds to 4 ints. To imagine.. this kid was holding a clipboard, all last year, while a decent pocket QB ran the Option.
Sherman might pull it off after all. Not holding breath.

Scary thing is that when he gets a line, he will be even harder to stop. If the coaching staff ever designs plays to use his legs, you could see some astronomical numbers for that offense. He can just potentially do so much for you on offense, and hurt you in various ways.
He is no doubt the future of the program..and if i were an Aggie, id be ecstatic with what he is doing having only run this offense this year...

You know, in the Tech game there were several plays where I wished he had pulled it down and run. I wonder if that is the pro mentality of the staff playing in, as he seemed reluctant to tuck it, as if he'd been taught that it's better to go ahead and throw it away. I think that if they would give him some run/pass options it would really open up the offense.
I am thrilled with how he has responded and I am looking forward to watching him for three more years.

Now that you bring it up... if he had 713 attempts at 7.8 yds per pass, he'd likely pass for 5600 yds and (1 td in every 14.8 pass attempts/1 int in every 55 attempts) 48 tds w/ 13 Ints. However, he'd have to be suiting up for the Red Raiders to have that many attempts. Matter of fact, I bet WR-Tannehill would look like the greatest WR to every play if Johnson had that many attempts. Oh, I forgot... it has nothing to do witht he amount of "attempts"!
Wow.. would'cha look at that... those stats look pretty identical to Harrell's 2007 stats. (5700/48 tds/14 ints.. on 713 attempts) ;)

If he would have made a decent choice of schools, he might have had that opportunity, but alas, he went to the career killer school...

Jerrod looks like the real deal. I've heard that Sherman promised Tannehill that he could compete for the QB job in the spring. If I were Sherm, I'd tell him that Jerrod is too good and you're too good of a WR to be messing with being a QB IMO.

Just for the record, the most touchdowns McGee ever had in a season is 12. Johnson didn't play the first game, still has 4 games left, and has already easily surpassed him.

He plays as if he's in his backyard with his friends. He's not afraid to make mistakes which I think McGee was.

McGee played afraid???
How quickly "memories" change.
mcGee knew he had his coach's confidence and played like a LB while he took beating after beating just from waiting for his blazing 5.2 WR's to get open...
Call him what you will, but I would never have thought I would hear someone accuse McGee of being tentative or scared. I always thought he played hard.

I think he must have meant "confident". It's not hard to play "hard" when you have the natural trait of leadership. The issue with most (if not all) Aggies - over the past 3 or 4 yrs - was confidence. For God sake, Denny had a pocket-QB running an Option offense... while an excellent 6-6 230-pound Dual-Threat QB was holding the clipboard. How confident would you play if you knew your HC was a complete moron?? ;)
If he did, in fact, mean "afraid" then I'm with you... wtf are you talking about?? Did you see how many times he was wrecked?? Yet, he got up time and again. It's not like McGee was a big dude. Mistakes were his least concern. The kid had a soft (overrated) O-line w/ an even softer offensive scheme. He was a red cape and almost every defense in the Big XII was a Spanish bull.

Yeah. McGee is obviously not afraid to take a beating when he's running. He is, however, afraid when he's looking for a receiver. McGee will just take the sack whereas Johnson will either try to make a play when the pocket collapses or will just throw it away.
And for whoever says McGee had no receivers.....where were these 5.2 receivers when A&M played Iowa State?....(381 pass yards, 4 tds, no picks????)

I'm an Aggie, but it could be that our 5.2 receivers were just outrunning ISU's 5.3 DB's. Our receiving corps is depleted very badly and our O-Line is not good and lacks depth this year. Johnson will be really good by his senior year. What's encouraging is seeing that the offensive scheme seems to be coming along already. The defense is lagging behind, but they will catch up. Someone just needs to make a move back to the old 50 defense.
And McGee is a gutsy dude. The guy has been known to get into a scuffle when he's hit out of bounds to spark his team. Not many QB's will really do that on the opposing sideline.

A&M's best receivers this year are freshman (Tannehill and Fuller) and weren't there for McGee last year. The only person McGee really had to throw the ball to was Martellus Bennet, who Fran didn't like to get the ball to very much. The McCoy brothers are both pretty good pass catchers and the afore mentioned freshman look to be very solid players in the making. After that, I'm not confident in any of the other WRs.

Tannehill has actually been at A&M since spring of '07. I wonder what his reciever athletic stats are...(40, vertical....)

There were several plays in that game that I was scared he'd run!:D He didn't do too well when he did run, which surprised me.

Yes, but he was red shirted and didn't touch the field until this year.

Don't forget about the injury to Roger Holland. He makes for a very solid slot receiver which seems to be the only thing we are missing in concern to pass catchers. Next year you will get Tanne, Fuller, Holland, and both Mccoys back along with Brandal Jackson and Uzoma coming in as freshman (if they don't redshirt) making for a solid receiving core.

you dont see solid wr corp. and A&M together that often.... unless its... A&M was destroyed by another solid receiving corp.
Im impressed with our group of Wr's... Tannehill is slowly becoming my favorite college player

Tannehill just goes up and gets the ball. If I was a QB, I'd love nothing more than to have two 6'4'' receivers on either side of me to throw the ball to.
