Great game...score doesnt do the game justice...it was close...24-24 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The game boiled down to 4th and 1 at midfield with about 8 minutes left in the game. It was 31-24 at the time and Hays offense was driving the ball well. Why in the world did Amadeus not get the ball??? Very frustrating!!! Pack held...that was the ballgame!! They come down on another short field and score again. GAME! They give Awaters the ball on 4th and 1 and he does not get stopped...plain and simple! Get that first down we could be looking at another overtime (maybe). BUT...shoulda woulda coulda...AWaters told me all the Lufkin players were giving him props after the game and saying how he was the best they have faced this year....nice to see he came outta of that game earning his peers respect. As for Lufkin....that's the most talent I have seen on one team in my life. I wish them well...good luck winning state!

Nice post Haysfan - it was a great game. You guys have an A+ offense and kicking game. Yes - 4th and 1 - you go with the man - Waters was tough all day. Not sure what the reason was there. We definitely had the speed advantage - but you guys can move the ball on anyone - great game again.

I have great respect for Hays they will be a force in 4A next year. LP, we should count ourselves lucky--AGAIN!
Central Texas teams should not be taking likely for now on, unless ur Judson.

I honestly thought it was anyones game going into the fourth. But Hay's couldn't catch a break in the last quarter. How about that kickoff from around the 15 yard line. Lufkin gets backed up after two penalties for celebrating a touchdown. I'm thinking "great Hays just got the field position they needed" and Jamie's kick still finds its way into the end zone for the touchback. Who would expect an 85 yard kick off? Hay's played well and hard. Good game.

yea our kicking game sucked but thats usual for our kicker to get the kickoff to the 30( lufkin fans we wernt trying onside kicks every time if you were wornding) he misses the clutch kicks but is going to baylor and i think i heard but like 12 outta 22 starts are going to d1 schools not sure if true but thats what i heard. only only passing came from when lufkin had 10 guys in the box like the 1st play of the game. good luck rest of playoffs i want us to lose to the best and no more execpt the westlake game we should of won that.

Let me correct a few things, Brandon is a solid kicker, missed 2 XP's this year and only a few FG's. The kicking off short has always been our thing, we did it last year too and I'm not sure why. At the beggining of this year Brandon was kicking touchbacks and i was glad Coach Shelton got rid of kicking short, but 3 games into the season we started kicking short again. I don't know why we do this when we don't have a very good defense  The only player from our team that will play D-1 ball (if he qualifies) is Amadeus Waters. Scouts have looked at a few of our O-Linemen, Trey Miller and Jacob Posey, but I don't think they have been offered yet. Like our players in the past, some will go on to play lower level ball at TLU and Junior Colleges.
