SV '04 vs SV '05

There seems to be something similar between SVs '04 and '05 squads. They both came off a loss (two last year) in the regular season to pretty good teams. As soon as they both hit the playoffs, the level of play elevated.

Look at the '04 Playoff scores:
SV vs San Marcos Win 38-21
SV vs SA Clark Win 48-20
SV vs San Benito Win 51-0
SV vs SA Taft Win 42-24
SV vs Clear Lake Win 18-10
SV vs SLC Lose 24-27

'05 Playoffs (Based on prediction)
SV vs San Marcos Win 42-14
SV vs SA Jay Win 34-14
SV vs Valley (Blowout)
SV vs Madison (SV will probably win again)
SV vs Katy? (Close game could go either way based on prediction)
SV vs SLC?


Based on these similarities, I believe that SV will at least make the Semifinals, and could very possibly win it all.

Your crazy if you think Smithson Valley isn't physically or mentally tough enough to beat an opponent. That along with great coaching is the only reason Smithson Valley is consistenly making deep playoff runs. If you list out Smithson Valley's team athletically vs. Carroll's team last year. Carroll should have won by 30 or so, but that was not the case. I'll go out on a semi-limb here and say that Smithson Valley plays harder than any other team in the state. Obviously, that is an opinion and not a fact, however, it would be hard to argue against that point.

You're right Katy did not show up for the semi-finals last year. We just happened to play Clear Lake on their best day. No turnovers - no penalties - blocked our field goal with 6 seconds left. They just played a fantastic game. They did not play flawlessly against SV. No one will ever know the outcome of a Katy-SV game cause it was never played. Hope to see you there this year if we both can make it.

No - that is not what I am saying - You were saying that because Katy didn't make it to the semi-finals last year SV was better. I'm just saying that it is all about matchups - You might have matched up better against us or maybe not. Until you play the game - you never know who would win and one victory does not mean you are better than the other team - especially when the game was very close. I don't see how you can say that. If you know Sv's history than you would know that they are a team that learns from their losses. Sv vs SLC in 02', carol wasted a good sv. Last year SV came back and held SLC to a very close game. It took SLC the final 4 seconds of the game to win by a fieldgoal. True Sv is notorious for getting to state and blowing it, but if you don't think that Sv can get back and do the same thing to SLC, than your mistaken. SLC is a very talented and well coached team, but so is SV. I also think that most of SLC's success is due to the fact that there isn't many teams in the state that know how to defend against their offense. There is only about 4 or 5 and one of them is SV. In any case it should be a great matchup if both teams can get to state and play each other again.

The last second kick was a fluke? If I say the same thing about 3 or 4 of the fluke plays that SV had in that game it would be a lot like 2002.

The kick was not a fluke. If I remember right I think it was a 39yd kick, which isn't easy to nail. Wether by a FG or 30 points, SLC won and you have to give them credit for that. My only point was that it was a close game, and I think that it would be again if the two teams met for this year's D2 finals.

I said lets not turn this into a religion thread. I never said what I believe in and you would be hard pressed to find many christians that don't believe that god is inside of everyone, even non-believers. if you want to say anything more to me about this subject just PM me
