First of all let me say what a great game, both teams played their hearts out.
Marcus Came out on top 31-26.
Great game to listin to and Im glad I didnt end up going to bed at half time (still can't find the time to sleep!)
*Coppell's Jr QB Hayden Hawk sounds like an electric QB with great leadership.
*Coppell's Saftys played well in the box last night espically in the second half.
*Marcus' Stephen Hawkins maybe one of the best power running backs in 5A
*I really like Marcus' I Formation, call me old school but that was some good hard nosed football :notworthy
IMO if Coppell plays like they did in the second half of the game, the rest of the season they will be very hard to stop.
Heres 6-5A as is
Hebron 3-0
SLC 2-1
Marcus 2-1
Flowermound 1-2
Coppell 1-2
Lewisville 0-3
I think Hebron is a show in at this point.
Marcus and Flower Mound will face of next week at Texas Stadium
Coppell will Take on the 0-7 Lewisville Fighting Farmers (who gave Hebron a scare during last nights game)

More support for just how good Katy's run defense really is.

Lewilsville is actually 2-6, with 2 non-district wins. Just wanted to make sure we give our district brothers their due credit.

I think you will have an easy game against the Farmers. They are out of the playoffs at this point and know it.
The team has a lot of talent, though and could make things interesting for the Cowboys if they show up.

Great game Marcus! You guys played well. To kill the clock the last 6 minutes of the game and drive it 77 yards was impressive. I just knew if we could get the ball back we would score because our offense was clicking that second half. But you never gave us a chance. Hopkins is the real deal, huge, strong and fast. I think our defense did well though. They never let him get that long break-out run. Our turnovers hurt us, 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles, one you were able to take in for a TD and the other a field goal. Your kick off returns gave you great field advantage all night too. And oh if Coppell could just have that kick-off return count and not have that holding call.
Buts, ifs, and ands, don't win you the game though do they?

After watching the game last night, I'd have to say I liked how Coppell came out and fought to make it a game. Coppell's defense did a very good job of contain on Hopkins, keeping him from breaking the big one. He will get his yards, but keeping the 50 yarders down makes a big difference.
Marcus was hard-hitting throughout the game, extremely tough. Coppell came out and in the second half, were making some tough hits as well. A very enjoyable game to watch. I would have to say both Marcus and Coppell are right on the verge of great things. In several other districts around the state, I think they would be taking the district title.

I thought Marucs QB threw the ball better than I expected. He made a couple of big throws in the 2nd half. Coppell basically played 11 guys in the box to stop Hopkins but couldn't stop the 3rd down pass. Coppell has to do a better job of establishing the run if they plan to do anything in the playoffs.
In the paper it showed Shipley scoring the 57 yard TD but wasnt it the other receiver Tollet?

I thought they did exactly what they need to do to win. I think they can do it again, and that is why I picked them over FM. You have to be able to make somebody pay for stopping Hopkins, and they did.
