Lots of Garland/Carter threads, but another GISD team is trying to get to the 3rd round. Its the first time Rowlett has been to the playoff, but they are GOOD. Burkner is undefeated. They have been bashed for being in a weak district, but I saw another team (Carter) that was in a "weak" district last night,OMG! Should be a very good game between two improving programs that very few thought would be here.

a berkner deffensive lineman just intercepted the ball and ran it back to make it 17-0..... rowlett needs to step up their d, so far theyve lost 2 onside kicks.

Berkner is a great team this year and I am sure they were so mad that they lost to us last year but at least we won the state so It shouldn't matter about that because they are good team.

Could anyone post any updates? I'm really eager to see if we can squeeze in another district sweep.

I believe its like 31-0 Burkner. I saw the first half, and Burkner is for real. Very quick. they had a great plan, and Rowlett just could not match up. Great Season Eagles!

I did not think Berkner was that good - Their weak district made me think their record was a fruad. I was sure they'd lose - thought Rowlett would bruise them - no way in hell they'd make the third round....
Then I saw them play - now I'm a believer! They are good, of that there's no doubt. They have my respect - I'm a believer, I can see them winning region 2...

I'm 3-for-3 this weekend in the 11-5A games. I had South over LH easily. I had Berkner over Rowlett but didn't expect a blow-out. I thought this would be Berkner's biggest test of the season, I guess they handled it pretty well. I said those Johnson brothers are for real. I also called the Garland-Carter game a toss-up but picked my Owls to win by a small margin. Normally, I would have pulled for an all 11-5A sweep. Unfortunately, I have kids at Berkner. Plus, my wife teaches in GISD and has a co-teacher who is very obnoxious about Rowlett football. My wife can't wait until Monday morning. Hats off to Rowlett and their running back for a great season. The playoff experience will help them in future seasons.

I have nothing to say except Berkner has the option down to a perfection! Great game Eagles, even better game Rams.

It's a little scary how well Berkner runs that option. They looked like the old Lake Highlands teams today.

Our head coach was the offensive coordinator back when Lake Highlands had a successful playoff dynasty, may I say. Does anyone know how many yards Pierce had this game??? I was there.. I think he only got under 60 yards. Nice season Rowlett.

Haha, can one of the admin's please change the title of this thread? It's making me sad.
Also, any more word if the next game is Friday or Saturday? I've heard conflicting updates.

According to the Dallas Morning News box score, Pierce had 24 carries for 86 yards. Berkner did a great job shutting him down. Congrats again to Rowlett for a great season. A bigger congrats to Berkner!

I was verrrrry impressed with Berkner. I couldn't really find any weaknesses except for a lack of pass game kind of, but with that running attack you don't need it! Great game and keep up the good work!

Rowlett has a very good team this year and stepped it up after they lost to us in zero week. the only reason we were able to beat them like that was bc our D was able to stop pierce in his tracks. i havent heard anything about berkners defense but theyv got to have a great game bc that little guy is very fast and can bouce off of tackles

It seemed like the Berkner defense was one step faster than Rowlett's offense. I think the longest gain Pierce had was around 8 yards. Honestly, I was sitting in the stands amazed what Berkner was doing to Rowlett. With 4 interceptions, 2 onside recoveries, and a fumle recovery, it was a really good game for Berkner. It's about time a Richardson team is doing good in the playoffs.

My son was telling me when he was running scout team offense for this game that our defense knew what the play was as soon the scout team got into formation. He was telling me our defense picks up on what offenses do really fast. That's why it looked like Berkner was one step ahead (they really were one step ahead).
