Well... funny thing happened last night... I really didn't think it would ever happen to me but it was pretty crazy... So I'm drving from my buddies apartment here in Austin to my aparment... the drive is no longer then 10 minutes it would be about 5 minutes without traffic lights....

So I noticed a car behind me as soon as I get on Hwy-183 North going back towards my apartment... the exit I need to take is only one exit up... so its a quick on and off the highway... I exit and still notice the car behind me... now I can see its a crown victoria... so my first thought its a cop making sure I'm driving straight and what not... cool fine with me... I give no reason for the car to pull me over... I make it to my apartments which has a gated entrance and I enter the gate and the car follows right behind me... I'm still kind of thinking it's a cop but I have my suspicions now...

So I park my car and get out and see that the car had stopped about 20 feet away from where I had parked... the driver opens the door and just stares at me... right now its 11:30-12:00 at night... so its kind of hard to see... while I was parking my car...(and something I didn't notice)...the passenger of the car that was following had already exited the vehicle and was hiding behind another car... well I started walking towards the driver because I had no idea what was going on... and low and behold the passanger comes from behind another park car where I couldnt see him and just knocks me right in the face... I was kind of caught of guard but did my best kimbo slice impression and acted like the punch didnt phase me he was a pretty stocky mexican guy... about 5'7 185-190 then I notice the driver went reaching into his car.. at that point I ran like a bat out of hell... I knew they wouldnt be able to catch me if I ran but I had to make sure they weren't going to shoot me from behind or something crazy like that....

anyways I'm just happy to be alive and make post

No but I threw my car keys thinking they might have just wanted the car... but I threw my keys far enough to where they would have to go find them... it diverted the guys attention that hit me just enough I believe to let me get a good head start

yea for sure...after the cops came and I talked to them... a guy from a nearby apartment came down and asked me if I was alright and everything... extremly nice guy... I told him what happened and he said that he has 2 handguns with his license... he told me where to go and everything... so I'll be doing that shortly

Dude, great to hear you're ok. Strange story and similar coincidence w/me when I was in school, sort of.

My buddies and I went to sixth and I had way too much to drink and told them I was going home. Had a program where you could get a ride home from any taxi in Austin w/your student ID, so that was my plan. Walking down the street I bumped into a guy who I was pretty sure tried to get in frint of me. I had no desire for a confrontation and apologized jumped out of the way, and got into a cab on a side street.

My apartments were Woodland Heights(still there), in IH35 right north of 183. Anyway, I was having diffculty exlpaing exactly where to drop me off and told him to do so on the other side of the complex. I get out and wander, stumble is probably a better term and a car pulls up and it's the guy w/two friends from sixth. WOW.

They toss me in the back seat, and I am scared lkjkless. They drive right down 35 to 183 shopping are next to some random office building take me out of the car, and one right cross to my face and I'm on the ground, they're back in the car, and am bloody. No cell phone back then, so I crawl up to the building and sleep it off.

Wake up the next morning, walk back home, clean up and go to the hospital to get a few stitches. The APD comes by and tell me that it was pretty common at the time as part of some sort of gang initiation. No money taken, nothing else, jsut a scar.

In Texas you do not need a CHL to legally carry a gun in your car. But 2 things I would advise you consider are a CHL and a nice 1911.

Seriously though, next time if you got someone that's not a cop following you, head towards a public spot while you call the fuzz. These guys obviously have a strategy down, so it may not be the last of it unfortunately.

i'll go ahead and echo what everyone else has said, get the gun and glad you're ok. i used to carry an axe handle for the very purpose of dealing with situations like that, but when you step out swinging and the other guy has a 9, you're sh!t outa luck and face down on the grass thinking this is how it all ends.

glock 9mm's are fairly inexpensive butmake sure you know how to use it and arent afraid to. the biggest mistake people make is pulling the gun out but having no intention of actually using it, just trying to scare the other person away. be ready and have no reservations about pulling the trigger, otherwise the gun will just bring you more trouble than not having it at all.
