Should be a great game with great weather and great fans. Looks like a toss up to me..What do you think? Would be interested to hear from some SLC fans who have seen these two teams the last two weeks.

This will be close. Coppell quickness against Marcus brute force. Should be good. As are all the games in this district.

Personally, I think either team can take this. I feel that Coppell played a 6th round type of game against us, kudo's to them. Also, you have to avoid the penalties; we got some critical pass interference calls. I don't have much more meat for you, maybe one of the other Dragons can give you a better analysis.

But hope that Coach Campo doesn't go meet with the Coppell kids again and tell them that he doesn't like Marcus. That will be the kiss of death for you! :D (and no, I am not going to let up on Coach Campo for the rest of the season).

I think it is hard to use the Coppell/Carroll game to judge anything. Taking nothing from Coppell, they stepped up and won the game when it mattered, I just believe that any game that ends at 57-53 in 2 ot's is hard to use as a measurement. I think the Carroll/ Marcus game was more a read on each team, and that Marcus could give Coppell trouble. There was no quit in Marcus and they absolutely believe to themselves that they should have won the game and will build on that. Not that I agree, Carroll took the game to the house at winning time, but what matters is what Marcus took from it. I think they will come out mad and will take it to Coppell, and Coppell will come out confused, after beating Carroll and then falling short the next week. All IMO..:p

Based on what I saw, Coppell should win. They are muti-demntional and fast. Marcus is a very good team but even though Hopkins ran for 308 yards they lost to a Dragon team that lost it's starting QB and starting MLB before the second quarter. Both replacements have seen little or no varsity action. We have also lost a defensive lineman and an offensive tackle.

That said, I don't know the health of either Marcus or Coppell. It should be a good game but Coppell has the firepower to win. IMO.:)

I think Coppel has the blueprints on how to stop the Marcus Offense.

- Pack the box with 8 or more, if you can squeeze 11 in there.....even better
- Keep an eye on Joel Free. Watch the quick throw to him and use tight man for the first 10 yards. Marcus' QB can not throw with any accuracy beyond that....sad really.
- WRAP UP. Hopkins is good, real good, but if you can get 2 or 3 hats on him (the way SLC did) he should go down (not at all like SLC).

I will defer the counter arguement on how Marcus stops Coppel as I simply do not have enough info.

SLC used that same blueprint. In fact I saw 10 in the box most of the game and they couldn't stop Marcus most of the time. SLC did stop Marcus when it counted though on the last two drives. Its no secret what Marcus is going to do on offense.
Similar to the SLC game it will get down to how often the Marcus defense can stop the Cowboy offense..Not enough against SLC. Hopefully enough Friday night.

Which will be better?

The Marcus secondary or the Coppell D-Line and Linebackers.

With the adjustments Erwin has made in the Marcus secondary the last couple weeks it will be a close match up. I hear that the Coppell D-line is pretty tough though....

Should be a great game just wish it was at Goldsmith, because I hear getting out of the parking lot at Coppell is a pain. ;)

Ok...the celebrating is over, the media has left, and the loss has been forgotten about...it's time to play some football. Coppell has learned alot the last 2 weeks. The offensive game will be back...Coppell will win 43-28.

OK, here's the secret to getting out of the Coppell parking lot quickly, but don't pass this along. Just for the friendly board folks here.

It should be a no brainer but I see it every week. People always try to park close to the stadium......... don't do it. Park close to the exits when you first get into the parking lot. When you enter the parking lot take an immediate right and follow that along to the first open spot and park there. Then exit the same way you came in, even though this is a one-way street in they reverse it after the game. Yeah, its a bit of a walk but you'll walk right past the folks sitting in their cars waiting to get out of the lot.

Coppell 42
Marcus 27

Halftime. Marcus by a thin margin. (Should be a very good halftime with two fine programs ready for their area contests on Saturday).

The real secret to dealing with Coppell parking for visitors is to get there sufficiently early to avoid the Coppell police and administration putting up the parking barricades which force visitors to the home side and then have to make their way back. (Of course, they may have only done this to Carroll ;).) But once you get there, just have good time on a fall Friday night. When everyone else tries to leave quickly, hang around for a few extra minutes and take your time heading back to your car. Talk some more with friends. No rush to be gone. Then you can pretty much simply drive away with minimal hassles.

Hey! Speeking of parking and Carroll, What's the big idea of Carroll, one of the richest comunities in the DFW area (heck, the state) charging for parking??? Nobody else does that!

Mesquite charges $4.00. We started it when we got raped by "Robin Hood" the great equalizer. Half the proceeds go to the band and half to CISD. Both home and visiting fans pay. I have hated it from the beginning but like most taxes, I doubt it will ever be repealled. Sorry:o

While it may not mean much Marcus wins 3 out of four JV matches.
JV1 and the two freshman games. Good sign of things to come.

It does bode well for the future. Especially the Freshman and JV-B games. The JV-A games depend on the needs of the varsity. Especially later in the season. Good luck. We are pulling for you.

This one could go either way. I would give Coppell a slight advantage since they are at home, but I am picking FMM in an upset. This will really mess up some of the tie-breakers. Good luck to both of you - this should be a great game to watch.

FMM - 28
Coppell - 27

Tale of two games Marcus on fire in the first half on both sides of the ball causing turnovers and scoring. Coppell never gave up and came back in the second half. Marcus gets the ball with 6:23 left in the game and runs out the clock which they couldn't do in the SLC game. Great game on both sides.
Don't like to complain about the refs but here goes. I don't get it. 10 penalties for Marcus and one for Coppell? And on the 4th and one where coppell jumped offside and they don't call it?

Great game and Coppell's back up QB did a fine job.
Marcus looked good and played very hard the first half! Second half I think the bad calls from the refs, got to them. But they finished strong great control of the clock in the last quarter!

Oh and what is with the PA system at Coppell, great stadium but the PA was awful, could not hear a thing.

The announcer is Todd Withorn (spelling?), a TV/radio guy I believe. He's actually a very good announcer with a sense of humor. But he has a tendancy to announce Coppell scores loud and clear, and opponents score somewhat under his breath. Unfortunately last night he was announcing more scores for Marcus.

Normally the PA system is blasting but it did seem a little soft last night. I noticed that when they played the music at the end of the game.

Question for Marcus, what's the story/history behind that cheer ya'll do, and what are you saying? Something like "hooray, hooray, umph".

All that aside, congrats Marcus, you are a very good team. I have this game recorded and will watch it tonight.

There is a guy that brings a flashing "Alright" sign to the games. When there is a good play on offense or defense he stands up with the sign and leads:
"Alright ,Alright, Alright, Humph"
Its been around for years at Marcus.

Coppell at least made a game of it in the 2nd half. I still don't understand why Okotcha only ran the ball 4 times all game????? Coppell's coaching staff has to get the ball to him more if they plan on doing anything in the playoffs. I was thinking the Lewisville game would be easier but I think it could be a close one. Coppell seems to have a lack of speed on defense.
