I'm talking about 60% of the people in the stands. Tampa was averaging about 40% attendance on the year until mid summer and it (the average capacity) rose up to 50%. They had the upper deck closed until waaaaay late in the season. Pretty sure they sold out today...

It happens. Losing this year will make the next WS title that much better. We have been spoiled since 04. The Sox will be back. Good luck to the Rays. It hurts to say but they are the best team in baseball. Lock up the captain and the Sox will be back in 09.

Sox need to get healthy. They looked very old in this series against Tampa. It was remarkable they forced it to a game 7 but IMO the worst game in all of sports to lose is a game 7. I'd rather have lost game 5 and packed it in then. Sure the comeback was great and last nights win was great, but it was all for naught. Good luck to Tampa, they were clearly the better team anddeserved it. I hate any team from the national league so go Rays.

Most of Tampa is either rich retired yankee lawyer (hence the large attendence at the Yankee and Red Sox games only before this year) or really really poor - on top of that foreclosures are a HUGE problem... The Yankees could care less about the Rays because their roots with the NY Yankees and Bosox are deeper, and the poor people really cant afford to go to the games, and even if they could they dont care... Theres about 40,000 people in Tampa Bay (not just Tampa but Tampa and St. Pete) that can actually afford tickets and are not die hard rich Yankee lawyers who only care about that team shows up in Tampa for Spring Training and a few series... Its hard to put butts in seats in that kind of environment, especially when u have one of the lowest pay rolls in the majors... It really is another world entirely over there - u have no idea...

But Dick Vitale is a season ticket owner, he counts as 20,000 fans at least ;)

I went to two Rays games this summer... They are definately getting a lot more following than usual... But, its still really a small number of people compared to say Houston that can follow them...

And I agree Boston sucks... Just look at the Patriots... They should be renamed the New England Pretty Boys *with a torn ACL* (astrisk part is for the limited addition 2008-09 jersey)...
