I have to tip my hat to Westfield, they played an exellent game. It was extreamly close though most of the game, but westfield pulled out that "thing" at the end to help seal the victory. I wish Westfield well on their road to state.

Peace!

Damn, congrats to WF - I'm almost glad P'land didn't get any of WF! NS has been a thorn in our side for years and I'm sure NS feels the same pain going against Wf. Good Luck to WF you have all of HOUSTON backing U! Bring it home baby! We will see again next year. Rooting for the fruit in 06 (P'LAND Baaybeeeeeee).

Its quite simple what took place at GPISD stadium tonight. The Westfield coaching staff may the right calls while the North Shore staff did not. I mean your down by two touchdowns with less than two minutes left in the game. You get a good return that gives your offense the ball in good position and then you try and run the ball with a QB who is not a runner. It seems we've seen this happen a few times before in our playoff history. Taking nothing away from a great effort from Westfield but honestly they aren't that much better than we are. They just executed where we did not.

I mentioned before the game that I felt like North Shore needed that passing game on offense to be able to win. It doesn't look like they got that established from what I heard on the radio. If I'm North Shore, I come out throwing to spread Westfield out and not let them feel like they can just pin their ears back against the run. Westfield made the proper adjustments on offense and won because of it.

Once again. North Shore got outcoached. Extremely questionable play calling. Trying to sit on a lead against a team a great as Westfield just isn't the way to win championships. But hey, it's been the same results 14 out of 15yrs. My hats off to the WF coaches they game planned excellently, and to their players, they excecuted when they had to. Good luck. Bring the title home to region 3.

Ruff and Big Daddy cool have you ever coached high school football?
I'll tell you right now that it was not the coaching that led to the defeat, but a very experienced and GOOD Westfield team. To say we were outcoached is ignorant. I'm calling both you guys out on that . AND my name is Dan Ford and my e-mail is 9thfloorprod@ev1.net if you would care to respond directly.
I think I know who one of you guys is and to call out coaches that are two years removed from a state title is IGNORANT and WEAK. I am so sick of hearing the absolute crap that comes out of "fans" pie holes on the rare occasion when Northshore loses. Everyone has an opinion but not everyone has class. How many state titles is it going to take to stop the *****ing?

If you could not see the obvious talent of the Westfield team then you are both blind.
I felt like I was watching Northshore in 2003. That is what Westfield looked like tonight and I say congratulations to them. I hope Westfield wins state.

Not going to get in the middle of the calling out but I'll throw my 2 cents in. I've coached and there were some questionable play calls but thats what arm chair coaching is all about isn't it? Either way I don't think that was the difference in the game.

I do have to agree that Westfield has an excellent squad and no NS isn't far off. KT2k is right that the most vulnerable place Westfield has is in the air and the drop passes just plain hurt NS. Number 3 made some great catches as well but the drops still hurt.

I gave Westfield the credit they deserved. They did what they had to do. we didn't. But this game was definitely winnable. I gotta go coach my son's game. Same here I'm nottakign anything away from the effort put forth by Westfield. However anyone that was there would have seen that when we went up 14-9 you could see the Westfield sideline starting to break a little. The D came out and forced them to go three and out. And what did we do on offense we ran three straight running plays and got nowhere. It was pretty obvious they were keyign on our running game by the fact they had eight or nine men in the box most of the game.

All season North Shore had tore teams up with the quick short passes that not only helpe dset up the draw play but the big pass play as well. Where was that throughout this game. In essance you allowed Westfield to somewhat take you out of your game.

Something tells me FB that you just may be related to someone on the coaching staff so I can see why you might take offence to people making comments directed towards the coaches. May be I'm wrong here but isn't this a place where come to express our displeasure of how a game went or our frustrations over a heart breaking loss?

That's all that myself and ruff are doing here.

You can voice whatever you want, but I'm going to call B.S. when i hear it(or read it). My nephew is the offensive coordinator. Since he has been the OC, Northshore's record is something like 68-6. All but one of those losses were in playoffs. I should not even have to defend his credentials; whether you think so or not,I and many of his peers know he is one heck of a coach. If you followed Northshore history, you know they never won district or went to the playoffs until Aymond got there. 1994, I believe. Do you want to go back to the days when Northshore had talent but did not have any idea what to do with it. Kind of like the basketball team is now. They lost their good coach some years ago and have not been the same since. I attended a 4a Catholic school with not near the talent that Nortshore has in basketball and we would have HAMMERED that NS team from last year. Do you want your football team to be the same way? The fans and specifically fans like you are spoiled and have forgotten how bad Northshore sucked before Aymond(and his great staff) got there. AND I KNOW THEY could have been better back then , but did not blossom until they got some professional coaching. Three bad passes by Cain(bless his heart; i feel for him) turned a possible UPSET by NS into a loss. The seniors for Westfield imposed their will in the fourth quarter and would not be denied. If Northshore had won it would have been an upset. westfield is that good . You calling out the coaches on this forum is a low blow. I believe their record speaks for itself, but I WILL ALWAYS HAVE MY NEPHEWS BACK. By the way that ring (STATE CHAMPIONS) on his finger says more than I ever could.

You don't have to tell me anything about the days of North Shore before Aymond as I graduated from there the year before he took over. So I know all too well of the programs history before he came. And I'm not saying your nephew is not a good coach. As you said his trck record with the team speaks for itself. All I'm saying is and I think you would agree sometimes we make bad decisions. Yes the Westfield D came out with a plan of what they wanted to do to stop us and did it.

And while we weren't able to do much in the first half. They went in made the neccessary adjustments and came out and played North Shore football and scored 14 unanswered points. Though after takign the lead it seemed liek they forgot hwo they got that lead. And then after surrendering that lead instead of going back to what had gotten them that lead they tried to continue doing something that hadn't worked the entire night.

Big Daddy, You called it. His nephew is the OC. Yes Aymond has done a tremendous job of putting together a winning program, and we thank him for it. But FBJones on first down and 10 with no safeties, you don't call an option with a qb that doesn't run the ball very well. It just seems that the coaches made calls that were playing to their strengths instead of ours. Cool, your nephew is the offensive coordinator. Is he above criticism? In a game where you have two evenly matched teams talentwise, it's gonna come down to play calling and adjustments. Not one time did the defense stop the naked bootleg. On 4th and 5, both receivers were running a deep route, noone coming across underneath. They blitzed relentlessly. What kills the blitz? A screen pass. Come on Fb. If anyone here doesn't know about coaching, it's you. But We're all on the same side and don't need to fight over coulda woulda shoulda. But I for one am not ignorant. I will not put up with anyone calling me so. I watched the game. Maybe you didn't. To a man, everyone I've talked to since last night has had the same opinion as me and BDC. You're like one of those coaches that would put his son at quarterback as freshman even though there's 6 other kids on the team that are better than him. Let me look out for mines and not the teams' best interests. I have agreed with everyone of your posts, but now I have completely lost respect for you. E-mail or no E-mail address we got OUTCOACHED.

The refs din't cheat. There were only 4 penaltys called the whole game. The only call that might have been questionable was the late hit in the first half. Other than that, I thought they let the kids play. I could be wrong.

To everyone else here on this board, I apoligize for rant. Aymond has done a good job of directing our football program. But anyone who knows anything about football and has seen our program, knows that we have squandered at least 8 opportunities to win state. He has been blessed with the best talent top to bottom year in and year out, and has only gotten it done twice. I still love him, but I'm frustrated right now. Peace!

Eight Chances to win State?
I played on a state championship team(baseball)
I have been around sports my whole life and I am almost 50.
I believe I understand a little bit about a bunch of different sports and I understand how to evaluate talent. It is not rocket science. I mean when you see Vince Young or Tom Seaver you don't have to look for very long and you know they are special. My point is that westfield was better than us. It was not an even match. You need to take your mustang colored glasses off and be honest with yourself. Westfield had 14 returning SENIOR starters. They SHOULD win state this year.
For you to say we should have won state 8 times leads me to believe you, RUFF, don't have any idea what it takes to win state.
Because to say we should have won state 8 times is a rediculous statement.
Their are teams in the Houston area this year with better talent than Northshore that lost in the first round. Go watch the Elsik running back (Caverness) and honestly try to tell me that any of our running backs were better. They were not.

I didn't say should have won 8 times. I said we had 8 opportunities. And yes I went to the Elsik game. Caveness is a great player. I never compared any of our backs to anyone, even though they all had good seasons. Over the years, and I'm sure the coaches would agree, That maybe they would have done a couple things different. Friday's game was definitely winnable, we just didn't get it done. There was definitely a big momentum shift after the Qb option. For the most part we all will mull over what might have been until next year. Especially since the both of us have watched alot of football over the years. I don't question your sports IQ, so don't Question mine. I do understand strategy. And these were two evenly matched teams, talented, athletic, and experience-wise. Yes I wear my Scarlet & White on my sleeve, but it doesn't cloud my judgement or my opinion.

I was in attendance at the game....it was a snot knocking physical game! It was one of the best games I've seen. Great programs, great players!! I said I thought it was going to be a close game, and they made it that way! The extra touchdown, in the closing seconds just sealed it!

One thing, however....Pierce was not very impressive!!!! He made horrible decisions, and made some horrible throws!!! Anyhow, he's looked very good - for the most part, all season!!!

Congrats to Westfield!!

It was a great game Friday night except NS lost (as you can see I am biased)
Westfield is everything said about them. They are a tough hard nosed team and I believe they will win state and would probably beat SLC if they matched up due to WF's defense. Yeah, things could be different. If Risner catches that last pass and gives Shore a 1st down who knows how it would have turned out. Shore held their own against the no. 2 team in the state and even
had them down for a good period of time. I personally think the difference was in the QB's. I've railed against Cain all year but the truth is, I think Cain did ok in the game it's just that Beasley is like Bobby Reid- fast, quick and very agile. If he were not so, I think Shore wins it. Also, I'm not badding Risner one bit. He had a heckuva game and gave us the go ahead TD. I felt he would be the game breaker and one dropped pass does not lessen him in my eyes a bit. I have no problems with coaching. As I've said before, there are 35 returning players for next year so look out. No. 20 is a stud running back.....

Well, I see Westfield playing for a State Title, however they'd have to beat, IMO, Berkner or Euless Trinity!! It looks to be a great match-up....but I have to give the edge to Westfield, because of their defense and overall athleticism!!

As far as matching up with SLC, that would be a dream match-up!!! And Westfield looks good enough to get the job done!!!

your team shows very little class as well, they came into gpisd stadium and the first thing they did was go to north shore's endzone and start wiping their damn feet on our helmet and repeating the jesture on the 50 yard line logo.so don't talk to me about class for one. for two they had no penalties called on them the whole game i sat there and watched for 4 quarters and yes there were 4 flags thrown and all were on ns westfield got away with crucial pass interferences as well as holding on both sides of the ball.I'm not saying anything that wasn't true.do i think we were robbed, yes do i think we can beat westfield, yes will we beat westfield oh yeah. north shore has always been a first class program and people in and around the houston area try to look down their noses at north shore we have good kids athletes fans and coaches.this is my last comment on the issue.

"there are 35 returning players for next year so look out. No. 20 is a stud running back....."

That is just scary comming from NS. I suspect that we will see yall go deep into the playoffs next year as well. There is no doubt that Aymond and his staff will be great again.

I don't claim to know alot about football however, This game came down to heart and will. I think NS looked good, I was really nervous when yall came out and were all fired up in the second half, and the WHS D came out flat. I was thinking oh no here is the repeat of the state game last year. But I now see were WF is different this year, IMO WF reached down and found the will to win. The D came up with a couple of sacks that really changed the flow of the NS O (just my opinion) and the 2 or 3 dropped passed were killers as well. I say you take away those four to five plays and this would have been a final second game toss up. even as a WF supporter it was hard to imagine two teams so good that just a few (I wont even use the word mistake) mis-executed plays could kill you. So with that I have nothing but respect for NS this game could have gone either way.

BTW, The penalties or lack there of in no way changed this game!!!!! this is high school ball and you could call a penalty on every play if you chose to do so. There was reciever/defender pushing and shoving on both sides of the ball, and luckly the refs chose to let the teams play. I say keep the flags off the field except in flagrant calls.

There was reciever/defender pushing and shoving on both sides of the ball, and luckly the refs chose to let the teams play. I say keep the flags off the field except in flagrant calls.

You pretty well said my thoughts. I felt like Shore was gonna increase the lead
but the WF D made some timely stops. As you said, in a game like this, a couple of plays could have made a difference in the outcome. WF should roll over everyone on their way to the title. They are a monster team and good luck the rest of the way. I'd like to see the title back in Houston. By the way, how does WF look for next year?

not real sure I know that the RB that played in the fourth is a junior so I think he will be in the backfield, not sure about the QB. only time will tell.

If that is Stewart, he is one stud running back. If Sweeny is not having a good day than Stewart takes over. At least you will have that to build on.
He looked like he should have been the starter anyway.
