I want to get a chat room set up for us. Do any of you know of good chat software out there? I've stumbled across some through searches, and want to get your input.

I think it'd be good for game days so we can get in there and have real time score updates going. I've tried chat rooms in the past and they work pretty good if you can find one that works well for most.

I have seen Volano Chat rooms and they seem pretty cool. There is even a demo chat room in their website. www.volano.com

If you want to chat...you can use AOL IM if you have it.
Just paste this in internet explorer....or whatever web broswer you use....
I have created a room....
aim:GoChat?RoomName=chat9268271091636445849+Chat&Exchange=16
paste the above link in your web browser and the chat room will open (YOU HAVE TO HAVE AOL IM)

A chat would be pretty kool. I haven't been a bigger "chat" guy in many years, but I would chat here with the people that are here.
This site has good folks.

I've tried it once during a Redskins game (on a redskin board) and it's pretty good.

I'll suggest mIRC. It's been out there for at least 15 years, tried and true and the most popular internet communication client(even more popular than AIM) out there. Tons of servers to go to, and there can be channel operators to kick out unruly people or trolls. It's free too(although you can optional pay $20 to register the program, like a donation)

I use IRC everyday, but its probably too complicated for most people. There are so many commands you have to really know to do anything, and it took me a long time to learn how to use it properly, and im still learning. Its a good chat program if your knowledgable about it, but I would suggest trying something else ;).

I think its a good idea.... you can open it up during game days... and or other occasions..and have it closed other times... so it doesnt get watered down ....but just a thought.... either way... this is still the best texas fooball site on the web.....

I'm not in favor of the idea. I think it's a trainwreck, too. If you did add a chat room, I might not be able to access the fourm on a government computer anymore.

Not really, I think its rather easy to use. All you REALLY have to know is the server the chat is on(example: EFNet) and /join(example: #5atexasfootball.com) and you're set.
