In your face Buffs.

Great game that nearly gave me a heart attack. ACU went in the half with a 38-14 lead and the Buffs pulled within 10 to 45-35 with 8 left and got a huge 4th and 1 stop. The 'Cats got a INT and Scott scored to ice the game.

If Bernard Scott does NOT win the Harlon Hill trophy they should just throw the award away, it's a sham!

ACU looks like they could make a legit run for a National Title.

I knew ACU would win. Lurking around, laying low in the weeds, waiting to pounce on poor old WTAMU. :notworthy
Wish I could have seen it. Must have been a good-un.

Scott had 407 total yards and 3 tds. Now we know what happens when he plays a full game. Johnny Knox had 10 receptions for 203 yards. Not a bad outing.

Either Malone or Scott could win the HH this year and it'd be legit.

As of 18 October my man Scott has 1149 yards rushing and 763 yards recieving and 18 touchdowns. He's been getting pulled in the 3rd quarter most games, too.

What's insane is the fact that although the unquestioned star, Scott is by no means the entire ACU offense. Most DII teams get a stud and ride on his back like Danny Woodhead at Chadron or Xavier Omon at NW Missouri last year. ACU is a team that has a 2,229 yard passer also getting pulled from games in the 3rd (averaging 329 a game) and a 66% completion rate. We have a reciever with 733 yards (averaging 20 a catch) , another with 473, another with 316. You will not find a better offense anywhere in college football.

Last week against WTAMU Scott picked up about 400 yards and WR Johnny Knox 200. Two players gained 600 yards between them against the number 4 team in the country. It boggles my mind that ACU is so good, I wonder where these guys were when I was in school.

Scott is sick though, head and shoulders above his competition. He averages 8 yards a carry and 20 yards a catch.

Great job by the Wildcats!

As for West Texas A&M. I know there were a couple of Abilene High Eagle football players at the game on a recruiting trip by the buffs. I wonder how the loss sits with these two players on continuing their football careers at WTAMU?

True that. But, that's kinda my point. Being in Abilene, they could very likely receive offers from ACU as well.

I went to the game, if I were a recruit, win or lose, the atmosphere there was better than any ACU game I've ever been to. The announced attendence was 19K and change. It felt more like a D1 game than D2, and Malone Scott and Knox will be gone next year. Yes it is possible ACU could reload, but WTAM has proven they will reload every year.

And the fans there were as wild as any I've ever seen. If I were a recruit, that would be the type of place I want to play.

Malone will leave only for the younger Harrell brother to take over. Not sure about who else they have, but ACU is pretty stout at the QB position.

I think there will be quite a battle between him ans Stewart, but either way that will be a big step down. Also, I'm wondering if Thomsen will get a better offer after the year ACU is having, and everyone who is leaving

A Billy Malone isn't going to come along every year for a DII school. He was one of the better quarterbacks in the state coming out of HS, a three star gunslinger from Paris. He had committed to UT before VY came along and led him to reconsider. You'd have heard his name a lot more had he not tested for that heart problem. If anything, the years off made him more mature and a better leader.

We'll see how well the coaches can get someone prepared. If Thomsen sticks around, he'll figure something out. As an ACU fan, I of course want him to retire at ACU but I will not begrudge him any success he has if he wants to move on. He's earned it. The man has taken a small Christian school with strict rules, twice the tuition (which hurts when half and quarter scholis are all you have to give) and fewer full scholis than its competitors to the top of the conference and national contender status. He is a great man and a great coach and if a big school comes calling I'll wish him the best.

I didn't know you were an ACU fan. Good to have another. Let's just enjoy the stunning and rare success we're having for "tomorrow has worries of its own." Right now, the 'Cats need to think about beating the pants off the pagan plowboys from Stephenville at homecoming next week.
