State's top RB scratches UT, leans to USC

Coppell running back Emmanuel Moody, the top-ranked running back in the state, said Friday that he is no longer considering Texas and is leaning strongly toward committing to No. 1 Southern Cal.
Moody said he made the decision to back out of his commitment to the Longhorns after an official visit to Texas last weekend for the Kansas game.
“I felt more comfortable with USC,” Moody said. “I imagine myself playing there for four more years.”
Oral commitments are nonbinding. The first day a recruit can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 1.
Moody, No. 4 on Rivals.com’s State Top 100 list, said he would make a decision between USC and Miami (Fla.) after a visit to Miami on Dec. 16.
Moody created a buzz in late September when he visited USC for the Arkansas game, something Texas coaches urged him not to do. Moody returned and said “I’m a soft verbal commitment to Texas right now,” prompting Longhorns coach Mack Brown to say he doesn’t consider a “soft” commitment to be a commitment.
On Friday, Moody said that had nothing to with his decision to back out of his oral commitment to Texas.
“USC feels more like home,” Moody said. “I like the players. I like the weather.”
