I know of 1 still playing for FB Kempner. Are there any more females that you are aware of still playing and are they contributing?

Does she actually get in the game

Not sure. At the Kempner - Marshall game I picked up a program for a friend and saw her listed as a WR. I also spotted her on the sidelines, but don't know if she got in the action.

Really come on if you can show me a gurl good enough to play at a 5A program and start then I will be a believer. But its to rough a couple of year ago a gurl broke her neck and died trying to play football. Its like guys arguing to play in the WNBA theres no point. Sorry I would be embarrased to have a gurl play for Lufkin heck Im embarrased that we have a Male cheerleader.

Purple, you are a sexist. There were girls good enough to lug around an M-60 when I was in the military. You ever go through basic training, ground defense course at Camp Bullis, desert combat course in Nevada? I did and there were young ladies hanging with the guys every step of the way.

I have a brother that has been in the Marines for nearly 12 yrs (4 years in the Navy, as well)...we've had this talk! Even he agrees there's a difference between a training course or even actual combat then there is in the "head to head" brutal nature of football.
In his opinion.....
Training is simulation, while getting on the field and being physically pounded is far more crazed, in nature. I have no problem with a girl being a kicker...or playing football at a smaller level, but 5A or 4A (and you can forget about college or pro) is pushing it!
But then again, if she can take the physical pounding "play after play after play after play etc, etc..." and most importantly if "she wants to take that pounding", let her. I think, however, there is a possibility of longterm health issues - in regards to cycles, pregnancy, etc... - with woman though!
We can take those bodybuilder WWF chicks and suit their "5'10 188 pounds of solid muscle" up in a college uniform, but at what position? With all that "bodybuilding muscle" (steroid induced) they probably run a 5.0 40 yard dash, so forget about rb, lb, cb and s. Ok, they bench 275, great, but kickers do that in the league, easily....and I doubt they could kick for sh**! Maybe QB....but that's the most important position on the field, and you gotta have YEARS of experience and knowledge!
Sorry, the WWF Chicks wouldn't even make the scout team at Baylor University!!!
(Just like to add....
Most importantly, that WWF Brock Lesner kid learned something when he embarrassed himself trying to play pro football....."muscles" don't mean sh** if you don't know how to use them on the field. Gotta know how to play football first....and trust me it's not as easy as going out on the street and throwing the ball around!!!
Technique, technique, technique....agility, mental toughness, power (not just strength) and overall football awarness!!!)
There's so much more to the game, but I guess on the HS level there's nothing wrong it.....I just worry about these girls safety!

I have to agree with you.. Girls do not belong in football.. They do, however, belong in my kitchen making me a pie...
No, kidding...Seriously...I am not that way... I prefer cake...
okokok.. Really though...I think women are great, but they are not made to be football players.. It's just a bad idea...

Funny coaching story: My very first year coaching we had a girl on our seventh grade football team. She played defensive end. We taught our defensive ends to turn everything back inside. We did not spill anything. Well we were playing somebody and got way up and put her into the game. Well the other team ran the sweep and she let it get outside, and from the sideline you hear one of our coaches start yelling "Amanda you got to make him come inside of you.". I walked down to him and told him to be careful how you word that. We laughed our a$$es off.

I'm a trainer, so the action I get on the field is a little different. The only football expeience I've had with football is...well, powderpuff. But I can say I know the game enough to play the game. Being at every single practice for two years and every single game- knowing most of the plays or at least the formations we're running- I'm pretty confident I could hold my own on the field. I'm only 5'3 and 130 lbs and lift weights/ work out seldomly.
The reason I'm posting this is because, yes, it was very piggish and shovenist of you.

Some of you are just too funny.
Redneckn..you can cook for me. My kitchen is big enough for a man like you. :D
My daughter has mentioned wanting to play football. I said, "HELL NO!" Not because I don't think she would have the heart to do it but because I think girls probably take an even worse beating than the boys do just to make a point. I told her she can do PP & K if she wants to, or perhaps kick but that is it.
But she is my daughter which means she probably just wants to get a closer look at the tight ends. (that was for you Redneckn ;) )
One questions though. Is there any reason to think that players on a 6 man, 1-A, 2-A, or 3-A team would hit any less hard or be any less competitive than a 4-A or 5-A player. Just because they go to a smaller school does not necessarily mean they are any less tough. Or am I missing something? I don't really think football at any level (high school and up) is a place for girls.

Male or Female. You either have the ability to play the game or you don't. What sex you are doesn't matter once those pads are on. If you can't take the pounding, don't step on the field. If you can't take the competition, don't step on the field. Nothing else matters.

Military is completely opposite of this subject about football and other sports. Boys at this age are being taught to not hit girls and treat them nice, so for them to know a girl has the ball and its your job to hit them at full force has to be difficult for them. I know I would not want to be the one held responsible if she gets her leg broken or something else happens to her, cause you know good and well if I late hit or a fight breaks out all her "boy" teammates are going to defend her. I say stick to boys only. You know, there are sports strickly for girls also, should we let the boys play in the girls softball team? not fair if they can't do that but the girls can play football. In the military you are fighting for our country, men and woman, not high school football. SHould we let girls in the NFL?

Sure if we can get some male cheerleaders out there for us ladies that equate the women cheerleaders they have now. Shoot, they should already so that for us anyway. There are allot of ladies that go to those games. LMAO :D

There is a true story of a girl playing on a boys basketball team, which is not as bad except for she played post. I know a kid that was assigned to gaurd her and it was very awkward playing defense and boxing out. Also this kid was a dominant player in the post (offensive lineman size). He could not perform as he wanted to because the girl was gaurding him and he could not be physical. It just wasn't in his nature. The one time that he tried to do something physical the girl fell down and was injured and from that point he was not on his game that day and played the worst basketball that I have seen him play in a couple of years.

I couldn't agree with you more. If you can take the beating (male or female) and you have the heart (male or female) and the knowledge (male or female), no one can take that away from you and you should be allowed to play the sport of your choice. I wanted to play volleyball in high school, because I loved playing and I was good, but I couldn't because I was a male and there are no male squads. I would have liked to have joined, but I didn't know it was an option, or even if it was. I have seen guys be cheerleaders, and this year, for the first time at Aldine, there was a guy on the drill team. If he has a passion for dance, why shouldn't he join the drill team? If a woman has the passion for football, why shouldn't she play?

Well because, speaking as a woman, there could be potential long term damages to her that a boy could not suffer. Things that a direct hit could cause. And as a young girl she may not understand the magnatiude of those risks. So having the heart, knowledge, and ability is great, but you need to add to that some mature guidance.

There could be long term damages to anyone who gets beat around. Just ask the ones who break their neck playing football and can't walk anymore. That is not an excuse to not let them play if they want. Males could have damage to their reproductive organs as well, maybe not as easiily or searous as females, but it is still possible.

Sure anyone can get hurt, and badly too. I know that. But boys bodies are made to take those hits better than girls are. Especially girls that are devolping like that. We are not talking about steroid ladden women who lift weights for a living. We are talking about girls. Believe me, I understand your argument. I wanted to play really badly when I was a girl. My dad was a coach and I grew up with it, in the weight rooms lifting, PP & K. I was even the personal takling dummy for my 6'9 385 lb. brother, and I took it just fine. But I wasn't allowed to play and it didn't kill me. And now as a parent I am so glad.
Yes boy's reproductive organs can get hurt. But I am not just talking about that. You take a few hard hits to the pelvic area or any hits that wrench your back which causes damage, and then down the road carry a baby in you for 9 months and see how easy it is when those old pains start to resurface.
There are lots of good athletic opportunities out there for girls. They can get banged up enough under the b-ball goals, believe me.

Girls should play football. If they have the talent and commitment to do it, I say go for it. Boys have a physical advantage over girls and we will always have a system where girls can play boys sports, but boys can't do the same. I won't argue with that. Girls need a chance to play their own sports, but I agree with them playing with the boys if they can hang.

man this is so true, one of the games we were at, there was a punt on 4th down for -2 yards. i have no idea.it was stunning to me. but i guess when we are behind the amazing quinn sharp that is what happens.

so....im very torn on this subject..if the girl that is playing, actually PLAYS then i think it would be cool. but to sit on the sidelines would suck, not to mention that the hot defensive end would never date you if you were "one of the guys" on the team. i just think for a girl to play football would be tough. i've grown up with boys...my brother and his friends play football and my dad played football too, and i tell you what, it is TOUGH to hang with the boys. it just doesnt fit. but if you actually are good enought to START then i would give you the thumbs up....

Men and women are not equal period (I don't mean they should or should not have equal rights). Women can get pregnant and men cannot. Men do some things better than women do and women do some things better than men do. Football is something that women should not do. A woman's body type is not made for that type of punishment. It can take plenty of punishment but not the kind football dishes out. A woman playing football is like a man trying to give birth. Their bodies are too different and are not made for those things.

WOW not to be a pig but gurls shouldnt play football.
lol, I agree with you and I think its sick being your girlfriend that plays football and you don't, wow disgusting... I rather take a girl from volleyball or any other girl sports like cheerleading or drill team.

There was a women's football team that practiced where my son playes pee-wee football a few years back. They had some big dudes on that team!!! Funny thing tho - they could play  .

I think a lot of you guys are forgetting there are plenty of male players on most big varsities that couldn't take the pounding play after play either. You always see two or three mighty mites on the sideline who don't get in until the final 3 snaps of the game that, if they played 60 plays a night, would wind up in the E.R. If a girl started playing as a freshman and worked her way through the program just as hard, what right do you have to tell her she can't suit up as a senior? I've seen 5 foot 1 inch quarterbacks take the final snap of 50-0 games, are they more deserving of being high school players than a girl just because of their sex?
The males in here who think women are so inferior athletically are the same ones who watch Cat Osterman pitch a softball and think to themselves, "C'mon, I can hit that!"

What a freaking tool!! lol Ok let's put together the best women's football team and let them play in the NFL and the best women's basketball team in the NBA etc etc (wait they did try that in baseball a few years ago when the best women team "the silver bullets"?? played MINOR league teams and got absolutely embarrassed) It does not even make sense just like you do not?? You are either a wacky feminist or another victim of today's wussified political correctness movement and you ignore reality. Men are far superior athletes (on average) and are much stronger then women and that is a giant fact. you would have to be either a ****** or blind not to admit that?? Sure you have a few extreme exceptions when a girl can compete in a men's sport ( the woman golfer did ok) but golf is a completely different sport when you are talking football, basketball, and baseball. I hate to break it to you but men and women are very different in terms of physical abilities. This is not ground breaking stuff here.

Purple, you are a sexist. There were girls good enough to lug around an M-60 when I was in the military. You ever go through basic training, ground defense course at Camp Bullis, desert combat course in Nevada? I did and there were young ladies hanging with the guys every step of the way.
LOL what does this have to do with football.

It has to do with ability...which was called into question. As for learning football skills, I'm not saying they could march onto a JV team and compete for a position. They'd have to start young.
