Who is the best team of each decade: 1990's, 1980's, 1970's, 1960's (I wouldn't know much about the 50's on back)? This one's (2000's) not over so let's not go there. Do some research and try not to be a homer. ;)

60's - Garland
70's - Plano
80's - Odessa Permian
90's - Converse Judson

I'll assume this is greatest in the top classification or at least for most of the respective decade.

90's Judson
80's Permian
70's Plano
60's Wichita Falls
50's Abilene
40's Highland Park
30's Amarillo
20's Waco

Let me make it more interesting by actually picking one winner from each decade.

1960's I'd go with 1965's Odessa Permian (14-0) defeated SA Lee for title
1970's I'd go with 1971's SA Lee (15-0) defeated Wichita Falls for title
1980's I'd go with 1985's Houston Yates (16-0) defeated Permian 37-0!
*I saw this team live and they were possibly the best of all time!
1990's was a tie between
1992's Converse Judson (15-0) defeated Euless Trinity for title
*I played against many of these guys in '91 & '90 and they
really jelled together, however they should have been
(14-0-1), because Jerod Douglas' 4th down game winning
TD against Madison did not break the plain of the goal line.
I know because I was standing on the goal line and the line
judge blew the call. Douglas was pulverized by then Madison and
later SWT linebacker Joe O'Havier at the two. Douglas stretched
out but the ball was at least 6" short of the line. Should have been
35-35 not 42-35. One super game anyway! Too bad Euless Trinity
could not have played them like SA Madison (52-0 loss was  )
&
1998's Midland Lee (16-0) defeated SA MacArthur for the title
*It would have been more interesting had they played Katy, but
there was no way this team led by then Sophmore Cedric Benson
was going to lose to anyone.

80s- permian panthers. a pulitzer prize/ blockbuster movie was made from the 88 season.

90s- katy tigers. houston chronicle team of the decade. the stats and records are phenomenal and limitless. hands down a modern day dynasty alongside south lake carrol.

00s- southlake carrol dragsons probably.

There are some arguments that can be made about the best of a particular decade but the 90's isn't one of them.

I'm sorry, but 3 titles, 6 finals, and 8 semifinals by Judson trumps any decade by any team in Texas.

BTW, Katy is the #2 team in the 90's. I think most of the Houston fans will agree with that.

Judson is the undisputed team of the 90s in my opinion, and benchmark program overall in class 5A.

As far as this decade goes, Katy and Southlake Carroll both have two state championships so they're probably even right now.

Best individual team of this decade so far is 2003 North Shore hands down in my opinion.

70's- 72 Permian- won each game by a average of 30-6
80's- 85 Yates- one of most dominating teams of all time

2000- 03 Shore. see 85 Yates.

Hey, I heard Lewisville bribed the refs in the title game. At least that's what I heard! ;)

the Austin Reagan Raiders of the late 60s and early 70s deserve mention. 3 State Championships in 4 Years. '67, '68, & '70. also a Finalist appearance in '73

also in the 50s-60s time period would be the Pflugerville Panthers. played in Class B which weren't allowed to play to a State Final. rolled up 55 consecutive victories from 1958-1962; beating Abilene's mark of 49. it was the National Record for several years and the State record until Celina topped it not too long ago.

Regional Championships in '52, '53, '58, '59, '60, and '61
Regional Finalists in '54 and '64.
State Finalists in 1970.

Those Austin Reagan teams (1960's & 70's) were pretty darn good without question. That program was still solid going into the early 1990's and then just fell off the map.
