This was supposed to be a big showdown this season but LC and Cy Creek have taken away a bit of the punch! It will be a showcase of two of the best QB's in the area. Both teams have been humbled a bit so I think they will both come out trying to prove their worth equally. Should be a good game and this matchup usually is. I expect tons of offense too!

Although this game has lost some luster it should still be good one. I think Ridge pulls this one out because they are motivated to show all that they are better than the last two weeks. Ridge will play with some real drive and it will be too much for Falls. Good luck to both teams!

Both are struggling... Ridge is struggling offensively (oh the irony ;) )... But this still looks to be an offensive explosion... But Im very unsure about which way to lean... Cy-Falls defense is worse than... Usual... Ridge has no offensive line which is why they are struggling offensively... So... The game will be decided by the front 7 of Cy-Falls vs. The front 5 of Ridge... And frankly I dont know which is worse... I mean better...

I think Im gonna go with Ridge though because Cy-Falls doesnt have quite the offense it usually has... Just think... The loser of this game is in a bad spot as far as playoffs... Falls might not even make the playoffs

Hope this thread doesn't get locked like the Langham thread did.

I think this is a must win game for Falls or they will not make the post season. Ridge and Creek are both DII schools and Falls has them back to back. Falls can not afford to drop both these games. Langham and Ridge lost to Creek, so I know both will be tough games.

It doesn't look good for Falls this year. May finish the season under .500.

I'm a terrible picker and when I vote on a poll I'm usually wrong. I'll go with Ridge.

As much as I hate to admit it, you make a good case here. It only gets harder each game. We have lost quite a few good players throughout the season for various reasons and many are playing injured. It is not the same team it usually is. Unfortunately it happens and these boy try SO SO hard to make things happen. The coaches are working hard as well with them and you can tell they want to win each game more than anything...as they should. You have to give them credit for their will and heart.

I was joking in the stands when both QB's were hurt on Saturday that I had to go in and help the boys out!! We all wanted to go in and help - we felt so bad. I will never turn my back on them though - these Falls teams have given us so much to embrace and so many happy times over the years - and you embrace all of your children - the weak and the strong - all the time. We will be there in full force and will support them on Thursday, on National TV, in front of God and the world and give them all of our support - win or lose. I'm not even thinking playoffs at this point - I'm thinking one game at a time and would like to see these boys end with a decent season.

Our team is, in many cases, playing hurt - including both QB's. We lost others for other reasons so we came into the season with our back against the wall in a way. It's going to be an interesting game to say the least...the two teams who were touted to be the best the district has to offer and both having a very difficult time right now.

My friend's daughter was a trainer for the Golden Eagles for the last three seasons. She is now doing the same for the U. of H. Cougars. She made it to the Lobo game and was invited back onto the field to hang out with the team. We spoke to her at half time. Although she was very disappointed with the way things were going, she was having a blast with the team and coaches.

This season's expectations may not be realized, but I don't see any fan support for the Eagles dwindling off. Cy Falls has made great strides the last few years.

I hope the Barry sells out for the televised game. For the last few years it's been all Fair and Fall. Ridge has come on as of late and would love to knock off the Eagles while all of Houston is watching.

Getting past Ridge could be season changing for the Eagles.

Falls missed Kolby's running game in the second half of the Langham game more than his passing. If he is able to go this week, Falls should be able to score. Defense is the question mark.

Defense is a huge ?? - they have shown us they have what it takes but there has been little consistency. This week they will more than likely step it up a few notches with all that is laying on the line. I totally agree on the Kolby comment.

I am unhappy that for the second week in a row I will pick against Falls. MOM, Booster2 don't go hating on me, I just don't think Falls has it this year. I think Falls will win one they aren't supposed to win this year, just not this one. Defense has been an issue since the 2006 State Finalist graduated. I'll be pulling for you. Unless it's a pic'em game.

Dynasty - I understand. You are one of my fave Katy posters and I get what you are saying. Something just tells me these boys are going to reach deep inside and pull out a win this week. They know what's at stake and they usually do well on TV:).

Falls has had some very shining moments this season and if they can just get the air game going and the defense can step it up, we should be able to take this one. I don't think either team will blowout the other - I just think there is going to be a very high score if the defenses don't show up.

I felt so bad for our defense last week...they were so gung ho that entire game and you could see the fire in their eyes to go out there and do well - but LC was just too much for them. I'm hoping they are working on the rush defense a LOT this week.

Last week, Falls' defense was focused on Langham's air attack. All the sudden, they change to jumbo backfield with 3 running backs and just start pounding out 4-6 yards a play. Falls tried to make adjustments on the fly but by the time they caught up to it, it was too late.

Too many Falls' players playing out of position right now and they are not looking good. I know the kids and coaches are all fighting hard, but it seems as if they have one hand tied behind their collective backs. I have to be honest and say my gut feel is that Ridge will take this game this week.

:(:(. I hope they prove this wrong this week - I really do. I know they have the desire and hope as we all do for them. I wish, for their sake, that it was a healthy, complete team this year. I always feel so positive when I go to a game, no matter who they play...and I will still be positive on Thursday regardless of the situation. I have to miss the Creek game which is probably for the best though - I might have to hurt someone near me;)

And, speaking of the LC game - they did EVERY thing they could to win that one in the end - just ran out of time. That last few minutes was pretty exciting but that's how they won the Springs game as well - you can't keep coming from behind like that.

Watching this game on ESPNU right now and what a GREAT game it is. The difference in this one so far is Ridge's heart and determination to win. Ridge's uniforms look really great and that has to help also. Hard to believe that Falls could be out coached like this also.

Well, as much as I love my Eagles, I think it's time to say this just isn't our year in any way shape or form:(. God knows the boys try really hard but it doesn't seem to be in the cards for them. Ridge, with the exception of their total lack of discipline, is very good right now. Shepard looks like VY and Lipscomb is just amazing. By Discipline I mean - those coaches need to teach them some. When a player is injured you don't act thuggish and jump around - you should show respect and kneel.

Eagles, we know you are doing your best and will continue to do your best - we fans LOVE YOU GUYS win lose or draw!! You are still the best.

C-Dub, Dynasty, Pool Man - it was great to meet you guys! C-Dub, sorry I left without saying goodbye! That was so not too nice - I was frustrated:rolleyes:.

Booster, as always, so nice to see you!

Where was the adjustments for Falls' defense? It looked to me like Ridge beat Falls with just a few different plays ran a few different ways. How did Ridge lose to Creek?

because creeks defense dominated ridge in the second half and held shepard to 50 yds on 22 carries in the game and picked him off twice in the second half.

creeks team is the real deal this year beating ridge was no fluke they controlled the game

I sit next to a guy at work that has a daughter in Ridge's band. He helps drive the buses. He will be a happy camper tomorrow morning.

It always seems there is a lot of scoring between Cy-schools especially when Falls is involved. If you like offense, head over to the Berry. If you spend too much time in line for concessions you might miss a couple of scores.

Having never seen these two teams this was a treat. I really like Grey at the beginnning. He had moves, desire, but had some players drop his passes. Once they got behind by a gozillion points he couldn't do much right but that is to be expected. Either Ridge is the greatest team on earth, or Falls needs to find a middle and the rest of the defense.:o

That said, Ridge really impressed. My first time to see Shepherd who really impressed me. A complete player. The RB for Ridge was also outstanding, as was the LB. They have a plenty good team.

THAT has been the problem for us this season. Grey is a fantastic PASSING QB, but has had to be a running QB this year in order to try and generate some offense. It seems it has gotten into everyone's head so much that the coaches are grasping at straws to try and win a game. No apparent scheme or direction. The kids are playing hard, but things are out of sorts. Good size and talent on the OL and defensive front 7. If a team runs between the tackles, Falls can handle it well. If they attack the edges, Falls does not have the speed to deal with it. Tough year. Time to double the effort and win out.

Don't get me going!! I've had a problem with that group since the state playoffs in 2006 when they were turning their backs on the other school's band while they were playing their schools song - just as Ridge showed little class when the injured players were on the field tonight - so did our student section then. Neither group shows much in the way of class and it's embarrassing.

I told you not to get me going on that topic.

As for our defense, it's just not there this year. Anthony Brown is a shining star on that side of the ball but he is only one person. Our rush defense is very much lacking. Playoffs? This may be the first year in a while that we won't be there. There is still a minute chance but we still have Woods, Creek and Fair...not an envious position to be in.

I wouldn't paint a wide swath across the defense. Between the tackles, they are pretty stout. But, hit the edges on them and they just do not have the speed to contain. Tough year. Their backs are against the wall right now. I think they have enough to make the PO's to keep the streak going.

I don't know, I saw a lot of 'up the middle for a TD' kind of plays. Even the Junior RB for Ridge did it. and seems like at least two were called back? (can't remember, getting too late, and I have already deleted the recording). I felt that Falls initially (up until 14-0) was actually playing a better game as a team. Just could not get into the end zone. Ridge definitely has a lot of speed so pursuit once they broke the line was a challenge.

Just trying to be objective, I have no dog in this hunt.

Not to mention the Cy-Falls "MOB" is just a replica of Fair's "Crew" in every way possable. The Crew has had their bonehead moments though. In `06 vs. Pearland I remember saying a few choice words after hearing them chant "Overrated" with 3 minutes or so left.

I'm with the other mom. YOU can look ahead all you want, but that is not what Creek will be doing. One game at a time, baby!

The difference between Creek this year and last...Defense. They've always been able to put points on the board, but this year they can stop the other team. Special teams are a huge difference (well on the kickoff and punt teams). Last year (and many years), Creek has been unable to keep teams from returning kickoffs for 20+ yards and often all the way back. This year, it's much better.

It's definitely embarrassing and I never understand the point in it at the state playoffs, but with district play... I think a lot of it has to do with the fact these kids have issues with each other. Like basically everyone in the district grew up with one another and we're all friends but at the same time... we all definitely have some problems.
It's disappointing, but it's kind of how it is. Hopefully this makes sense!

So true...I would imagine there is a lot of overlap between Ridge and Falls kids. It's sort of like Creek/Fair, Creek/Woods, Fair/Woods. They all know kids at the other schools, especially with the way Hamilton divides. That's what's always kept the Creek/Fair rivalry strong, even when the won/loss record of late has been lopsided.

I posted for quite a few years on the old rivals board. I was CyCreekTiger. (as in LSU) What happened to that board? Now it's THe Old Coach and there aren't nearly as many people. There were several Creek people over there a few years ago. I know that DJ's dad posted and Zac Scotton's mom posted some. A couple of the players were on that board too.

I understand what you are saying and I can not argue against you. Ridge definitely has some speed on both sides of the ball and when they broke past the LB's they were off to the races. But, I think Falls did OK between the tackles for the most part. But, I guess in the end, when your opponent hangs 62(?) on your D, they did not do their job well enough.:(

I have been able to watch Ridge 3 times this year and I can assure you that last night was the best Lipscomb has looked all year. Shepherd just plays the game at a level higher than most of the players on the field, and it really is a treat to watch him play.

Kolby played very well. I thought that a couple of early dropped passes really hurt Falls and any momentum they were building.

Fan support:mad: Where were all the fans from Falls and Ridge? Ridge has typically had a low turnout, but not FALLS!!! Last year our TV game between Falls/Fair was a sellout, and I expected the Falls side to be full again last night.

As opposed to what? Sitting at home while the rest of the district play first round playoff matches?

I'd rather my team be "one and done" than to be "none" at all:)

Falls usually has a mediocre turnout...we never fill the stands unless we are A) really winning and B) playing Cy Fair! Also, many of our fans get there mid 1st quarter so it grows as the game goes on. We did have more than Ridge last night but does it really matter in a game like that? Not really.

I totally agree, and so would all the players, band, drill team, etc. The playoffs, regardless of how far you go, is just a great experience for the students and fans. Plus, anything can happen in ONE game. Just ask Lufkin about Round Rock last year:eek:

I posted for quite a few years on the old rivals board. I was CyCreekTiger. (as in LSU) What happened to that board? Now it's THe Old Coach and there aren't nearly as many people. There were several Creek people over there a few years ago. I know that DJ's dad posted and Zac Scotton's mom posted some. A couple of the players were on that board too.

i just started posting because last year i played for creek so i tried not to get caught up in what people are saying about us or other teams. but now that im in college i am getting addicted to the forum

Oh what a sad game on our side of the field. The only people I saw getting mad about the game were the fans. Defense looked good for the first couple of series, but then it was off the the races for Lipscomb and Shepherd. They are quite a duo. Shepherd looked great! He has moves like some of the pros! Lipscomb is something else when he gets away from the crowd. There was no stopping him last night. I expected to see Ridge play so well, but I was hoping that Falls could step up and play with determination. That part didn't happen.

So, now on the Cy Creek! Ok Eagles, it's time to kick it up a few notches. Light a fire under some players and lets get this season back on track. Our district play is 2-2. CFMom and I will be there cheering you on. This season is no where near over. We have 3 games left and I know that you have it in you to win out! Tighten up the defense and pull in those dropped passes and you will do great! Let's go Eagles!!!!!

Okay, now that it's been almost 24 hours, I will start thinking positive again!

They DO still have the door open for playoffs but it will take a lot of effort, determination, heart and reaching deep inside themselves and pulling out that WILL to WIN. I don't care to see players on the sidelines talking and laughing when the other team scores - that's not fair to those who came to contribute.

It would be nice to see leadership and the older ones getting the rest fired up - not just to run through the tunnel but to be that way the entire game. 68 points should be enough to fire them up to where that they don't want that to happen again. I don't ever remember 68 being laid on the Eagles since I've been watching...even in 2001 when they were terrible.

I hope that it was just Ridge being THAT good. Creek isn't going to be any easier - might be more difficult actually - so they need to be ready, willing and able to beat the Cougars!!
