Everyone in the state knows about Chris Williams at Abilene. If he stays healthy he could repeat as 5A Defensive MVP. Who are some other top LBs in the state this year? I'll start it off.....Parker McKay-Abilene.

Another mention of Tanner Brock from Copperas Cove, All-State selection as a Soph and again as a Junior. This is his Senior season and he looks awesome. Tackling running backs and receivers all over the field. Leading tackler on the kickoff team and some special all purpose positions that show his ability as a football player. One of the best for sure!

I agree, UT would be great. Probably end up at Tech as they all seem to. Not that Tech doesn't have a good program, it's not great. Even though they are in a position to write their own destiny this year with an undefeated season which would result in defeating Texas, OU, OSU, Mizz and Co. I see them beating perhaps one of the three but not all three. Aggies could play spolier as well.

Bobby Schneider from Colleyville Heritage impressed me a lot against Clovis East. He isn't Lawrence Taylor physically or anything, but his measurables seemed good enough that I'm a little surprised his offer list isn't more extensive. I haven't seen Chris Williams this year, but he was good enough the last two years to deserve a spot on any list. Trinity's LB corps across the board was very solid. Mitchell Osborne & Cade Foster from Southlake are very gifted JRs with high ceilings.

Edit: Tanner Brock from Cove... just saw someone else list him. He impressed me a lot when they played Aledo in the playoffs @ Waco last year (was it last year or year before? Can't remember). He's a good one.

Yea I will put Dekker Williams up there as one of the best in the state. He moved to Safety this year though.

I agree on the Oklahoma getting all there players form Texas, but LSU on the other hand has like 10 players on there roster from Texas and only like 3 of them contribute. Just thought I'd throw that in there. :)

I agree with teXan:

Bouthilet is an animal...(in a good sense) He will "clean your clock" in a heartbeat. Great nose for the ball. I would not want the ball when he is on the field. I value my life.

Renton has more controlled aggression. Extremely quick. The type of kid who would knock the snot out of you but would help you find your head he just knocked off and help you back to your feet. ( if you can still stand)

Warren appears to have a lot of speed. Another one with a great nose for the ball. I would want him on my team. I hope he is ok......

Latimer a smart player.... he will also knock you for a loop..another LB you look for when you have the ball and run the other way.

Then if you are lucky enough to get by them, you have to face:

Nick Adamo- great open field tackler...one of the most consistent I have seen in years

Ryan Clappsaddle-don't let his size fool you

Logan Rowe-when he is on defense, has the speed to hunt you down

Chase Maires or Aaron Charbonnet- either one of these guys can stick you like a LB

Sorry, I don't mean to ramble.....this team just has a very solid defense and I have not even mentioned the D-Line. Getting back to the thread....TWHS has a very strong group of linebackers.

I'll butcher the name but the best LB I have seen over the last two years in this state is hands down Elikena Fielo from Trinity. He is one of the best tacklers I have ever seen on the HS level and his ability to shut down the oppositions run game is beyond impressive. His coverage in the flats and the other short stuff is amazing too. He just has a great knack of where the ball is going to be and always seems to be there to make the tackle.
He's not as glamourous as a Norman or Williams however, if I had to pick a LB to form a defense around he would be my first pick whitout hesitation.

I will second (or maybe third?) Fielo from Trinity. Some of the best technique I've seen at the position. He just doesn't get caught out of position and is a tremendous tackler. Good speed and good at shedding blockers. If you were a coach, you could make a film of this guy and tell your kids to "do it like this guy."

i played right tackle for cy-creek last year and while #30 wasnt the biggest backer i went up against, he was by far the fastest and took great angles to the ball and laid the wood when he got there. he was hard to cut off on the outside because of his quickness of play recognition
