At the end of every game that Lufkin wins, there is a chant that gets louder by the second that says...."Who's your daddy?" tap tap taptaptap........After losing the game and hearing this getting yelled at to their team...they put a complant on a website saying that it is uncalled for, unsportsman like, and stuff like that. Well get over it cause I am one of the three guys that started it last season. It just something we do for fun

That chant as well as this thread are both obnoxious and senseless. Glad the Dragons haven't had to hear it yet.

actually some fans in the Bronx, New York started that chant. Second of all I think that whoever put that complaint on the website is completely right.

The people complaining are not from Harker Heights, they are from Lufkin, you little imbecile. Do you not realize how stupid that was? We barely squeaked out a win in overtime against a team we were picked to beat by 30 points. Your "fun" was very embarrassing and not at all how we expect the Panther band to act. The LHS band is noted for having class and discipline. Don't ruin our reputation. You should apologize for your inappropiate behavior, and I sincerely hope the new band director puts a stop to this, pronto.

Hey, I am a long time Lufkin fan and I don't agree with what you and your friends are doing with your chant. We must be show better respect than that, especially since we alomost lost and had to win in overtime. I don't like any of that stuff, because it doesn't show any class or sportsmanship and don't forget I sit over there too and it make me and other Lufkin fans look bad and we don't do anything like that. I think Mr. Williams the band director should not allow you guys to do it, I also hold him responsible. Besides, if Lufkin doesn't get things together this week, Hays Consolidated will be saying that to you. Remember, if your going to dish it out, you had better be ready to get it back in your face if we lose! Just stop doing it, starting this week.

We did get it from the NY Yankees fans in the bronx and this is nothing that should be taken deep into heart.......We were excited about the win and it's the playoffs......We're just trying to have fun

Please STOP IT! If you want to be a ba. Get out on the field & say that to one the players. I will be at the game this week & hope I don't have to listen to trash like that.

don't try to take credit for something that you didn't make up. I am happy that you did admit to the fact that it was not your original idea. Try to express your emotions in a way that glorifies your school instead of trying to put down another. Especially after they suffered a close overtime loss.

its funny that I think this kid thought that he would come on this board and get a lot of support only because he is a Lufkin fan. Well he got what he deserved and it really shows the respect that "real" Lufkin fans have for both their team and their opponent.

I think most of us here have respect for Lufkin football, because it's flat out not easy to go undefeated no matter what district you are in. The problem with real football fans is that we respect the game when it is played the way it's supposed to be played. The chant, from the band for goodness sake, is not the "way it's supposed to be played". And, I"m guessing we all call a 15 yard penalty for BS on this one.

I hate to tell you, but chanting "Who's your daddy?" after a game is definitely obnoxious and uncalled for. It doesn't make you tough or impressive. It makes you just a punk who has no common sense at all. I would definitely be writing a letter to your band director, principal and possibly school superintendant if necessary to get that behavior changed.
The band directors at Plano East would never tolerate the band chanting something like that. Believe me, they put up with no nonsense. They kicked 3 tuba players out of the band last week after reviewing video of their final half-time performance only to see that several tubas decided to have some fun and dance around quite a bit different from their program. Trust me, if our band started chanting something like that, he wouldn't hesitate to kick half of them out. Why? He has pride in his program and does not like offensive behavior towards the opposing school. He expects our band to show respect to everyone at all times.
Our band does not play "celebration" at the end of a game. They don't play obnoxious loud music when the opponents are trying to call the plays.

I think the chant is rude and disrepectful. Sure, celebrate your win, but not to the point of putting the other team down. I bet it wouldn't be so cool if the shoe were on the other foot. ;)

Chanting something like that is truly a "classless act." I believe the Parents, School Board, Teachers, Coaches and Football Players of Lufkin ISD all will agree. When in your thought process, band member, was chanting something like this a good idea, espically when your team wins in overtime to a team they were predicted to beat by 30? I hope deep down inside that you understand how wrong your actions were. To get respect you give respect. Everyone else that has posted about this game has show respect to the players and accomplishments of both teams and I think both teams have respect for each other. You and your band friends actions showed a lack of respect and class not only for Harker Heights but for Lufkin also. You and your band friends represent Lufkin and will be the only example of Lufkin that many will see. Is classless and disrespectful the way you want the Lufkin High School Band to be remembered?

I think it's pretty apparent to all that Lufkin fans don't put up with this nonsense. If the chant is ever heard again - the band director will get an earful - poor sportsmanship is simply not tolerated at Lufkin - period.

Doing anything like that *after* a playoff game is just classless and beyond tasteless.
Anybody who would make fun of, belittle, demean a high school kid after playing their LAST GAME EVER needs to be kicked in the bag repeatedly.

Don't bring our school down to others level...If other schools are showing lack of respect by cussing and mooning, does that mean Lufkin can do it as well?...This is absolute garbage, and your too immature to know it...I'm not saying CLAP for the other team after the game, but please don't chant an immature and disrespectful chant towards another team which has worked their tail off all year. The band, cheerleaders, and drill team have no idea how hard it is to start the season in two-a-days, then go through scrimmages, then pre-district, then district, and then finally the playoffs. These guys have worked too hard all year to hear some classless chant from the "band"....gimme a break

I was a band mom for 4 years and I sometimes noticed things like this. Our band used to yell "Scoreboard" and point to the scoreboard..one time they did it and we lost at the last second. I hated and was embarrassed when they did that but the main band director is pretty clueless when it comes to football rules and etiquette. A great majority of the band parents at CF are clueless about football too. They just can't wait for the game to end and they don't care what the band students say. They hate playoffs with a passion.
The other day, during the Homecoming game, we had a player down and the percussion section (an obnoxious group if ever there was one) started playing right before the injury happened. The director was watching them like they were the next BIG thing or something (guess he thought everyone was watching them but I know most football parents don't even know the band is there because I sit near them now and half the time I forget they are there) and he saw the player down and nobody did anything to shut the drummers up out of respect for the player. Finally one of the coaches had to go over and tell them to go to their seats. A COACH!!! There was a chaperone (whom I know and who is also clueless) standing near them the entire time and he didn't say anything.

Well... that explains why there were only 5 tubas at the Arlington game. I have said before that Plano East has a tradition of "Winning with Class" and I am glad to hear EAST maintains such a high level of integrity. :)

I have already said it in thread before that i wanted to hide my head because it was so embarrassing. This is a team Lufkin was supposed to beat by at least 30 and the band has the nerve to yell that arrogant chant while half the hh players are on the ground very upset after almost pulling off a major upset vs a top 5 team in the state. Just seemed very disrespectful and childish to me that we did that to a team Lufkin has never played before and a team that just gave it everything they had. Act like you have been there before like Lufkin has. I would almost understand it if it was a hated rival and their band and players had been trashing Lufkin the whole game but this time it was completely inappropriate. Even in that was the case, it would be more classy to not to do it back. hopefully this chant will not happen again because it makes Lufkin look very arrogant and classless. Other then that i thought the band was great in the stands. They were jammimg or should i say getting crunk for most of the game. LOL

This is Lufkin we are exspected to win and win with class. BTW if anybody should by chanting who's yout daddy it damn show woudnt be the band last time I looked it was Claybon and the team scoring TD's and shutting down the opponets not the Tuba player who broke a 40 yard run to the concession stand for a beef jerky bar. Come on if you can please dont allow this to be done at the next game you just make Lufkin look stupid and dumb we barely beat a 6-5 team.

Even if it is a rivalry game, that is still going too far. Eisenhower has this thing of playing a tune such as "Eagles to the Dome, Aldine go home" or whoever when they beat them. I think this is still going to far, because both teams still play their hearts out, but someone has to loose. Even when Aldine beat IKE, the band director would not allow them to play it back. Nimitz started doing the same thing, except at least with Eisenhower, they would wait until both school songs were played and the players were leaving the field. Nimitz would start playing it while the other team is still playing their school song and the whole team is still in the middle of the field. Plano East sounds like Aldine's band director, he would not allow them to play anything that was raunchy, had cuss words in the lyrics, or was demoralizing to either team.

I agree, It was not that serious of a deal that they chanted "Who's your daddy". I think fans should be able to chant and have resonable fun. We can't be so sensitive that it's not football any more. Maybe one day fans won't be allowed to jump up and down and cheer for their teams too. We should lighten up as a whole and continue to enjoy the games. The use of profanity should not be allowed and it shouldn't be tolerated by stadium security, but "who's your daddy", come on. We need to regulate the crazy actions of the players celebrations maybe, but allow fans to chant and cheer for their teams.
I think there is a BIG difference in the fans chanting and the band doing it too. Either way it is pretty sick regardless of who is doing it especially after the game we saw last week and I havent met anyone from here (Lufkin) that thought otherwise. It is certainly not something I would want to take credit for starting that is for sure

I understand where you are coming from but this was not the fan's it was our band. Trust me, it was a very inappropriate time to do it. I agree that fan's, players, and band members should be able to celebrate and sometimes people are too anal!!, but if it is completely disrespectful to the other team that is a different story. Maybe it is not a big deal to you but i just thought it was a lack of understanding of the game. You do not do a chant like that when you are heavily favored by 30 points and you barely beat them in ot and many seniors from the other team are on their knees crying. I just thought it looked silly and disrespectful. There is a time to do silly chants but this was not the time in my opinion. I do know where you are coming from though.

I am in the Lufkin Panther Band, and I agree with most of you. I do not condone this demaning and offensive action, and I have had no part in it. I have tried to stop it, as have others. Some of our band members are obviously immature. Belittling another team is not what the band is about, and it should be above us. Just because other teams/bands/whatever show no class, we don't have to stoop to their level.
Whoever you are in the band that started this post: I am in the band with you. I don't appreciate or condone this behavior. Your "fun" is offensive, so take it elsewhere. Stop being immature and just plain rude. You're a hindrance to our program if you're going to act like that. Please represent us with class, or get out of our program.

While I don't agree with the chant business, I think most of y'all have been unfairly harsh against the boy and bands in general.
A bunch of people jumping up and bashing the band is just as bad the the chant that got you all fired up. Not every can be on the team. But he/she can still participate in the band. You don't have to be big and pumped up on 'roids to do that...
Cut the kid a little. I'm sure he now knows it was uncalled for.

Well said Lufkin fans. Our students did the same stupid thing last year when Collins led at the end of the third at ABE and I was embarrassed and your fans really blasted (appropriately) our kids so I was surprised to hear your band doing this but glad they are being slapped.
Band directors must get ahold of the situation. I have seen our band playing when injured players were down, I saw the Lufkin band playing 30 minutes before our game when the announcer was announcing the seniors at senior night. I our cheer squad started a cheer during an injury timeout because it was quiet.
Knowlegable band directors intentionally play the loudest songs when their team is on defense which is actually in violation of UIL rules if it is designed to interupt signals but I have only seen it called once but I saw the AD on the field at halftime letting the officials know it. It is part of the game and The Woodlands is as good as anybody at it..
I also liked the 48 high kicks that Lufkins drill team got to do after they stomped us. It was neat.

Oh, for the good ol' days when our team played John Tyler and our band would play thier own song back at them as the stands yelled "FLUSH THAT JOHN!"
Yea, it was a juvenile thing for our band to do, but lets remember, they are juveniles. I just think everybody has become way to thin-skinned and whining about every little thing is just as classless. Just my humble opinion so bring on the beratings.

Again, I see it both ways but what they did Saturday at the time they did it was very bad timing. Nothing wrong with bands teasing each other (like Lufkin & JT used to) during the game nobody is saying that?? I know i am not!! I am not the sensitive do not want to hurt anybody's feelings type either. Far Far from it!! But it was even embarrassing to me as i was leaving the stands.. What is done is done and nobody got killed or hurt and as far as i am concerned this subject is over for me. It was something i disagreed with because of the timing of it that is all i will live trust me. LOL The Band does a great job and i am not going to let this one chant make me think less of them that is for sure. Well this is what is going to happen. We(the band) noticed that people do seem to complain about the smallest things and maybe it was bad timing I admit. So decided as a group to quite because of all the complaining. I've even spoke to one of the football players and he said he didn't think it was unappropriate and the they (as in all the teams Lufkin has played) "got they *** whooped". But oh well. Honestly, everyone is taking is way over. We (the people that started it) admitted it was bad timing. We thought it wasnt a big thing but i guess it was. good post #77...the lufkin band should not have chanted that...the only game they could have would have been nac but we only beat them 27-14 so this year they cant chant that to anyone...as a lufkin high school student and fan i am deeply sorry to you and all the heights fans for our bands lack of respect

HeightsBoy: I can understand where you're coming from, but to say that everyone hates someone is, in fact, a harsh statement. I understand that you disliked the feeling of being belittled, and in no way am I blaming you or condoning the chant. In fact, although I, too, am in the band, I am against the chant; I believe that it is pointless, as well, and I'm sorry that you had to hear it. To assume that everyone hates a person because of their immaturity, however, is a particularly questionable assumption. Although I do not agree with this particular band member, I am far from hating him.
Also, please do not judge the whole band because of a few select members who choose to act immaturely; I'm not going to judge your whole football team from your statements, so I beg you to realize that there are people in our band who despise the chant..me being one of them.
I would also like to apologize to your team, and you personally, on behalf of the band. The chant was stupid and completely irrelevant. It disgusted me, and I am pleased to say that we are bringing it to a stop.
Great game, and I wish you luck in your future endeavors. :)

What I can't believe is how anyone could get three pages out of this topic. Let's concetrate on something more important than this stuff. I have talked to a couple of people at the school and I think this problem will not occur again this week should Lufkin win against Hays. If not, I am afraid these band kids will get it right back in their face and have some new daddy's from Hays. The bottom line is it's sad when you do something like that and you think your having fun and you don't realize what you say is not is good taste or how it affects the image of the Lufkin fans.

To me it really wasn't about disrespect...
It was about being stupid.
They squeaked by in OT...it was a really close game..
and to chant "who's your daddy?" was just moronic.
However,............I do think if you play a highly ranked team...preferrably a team that out-ranks you...or a team you have never beat before...and you blow them out...
Then you can bust out with the "over-rated" or "who's your daddy?" chant...
But any time other than that....it's just dumb.

You know what? You need to stop making yourself sound so "perfect" and as a person that never makes mistakes. These kids are just going through a high school stage. You are also putting yourself down. If band is the only thing you think you can handle...you need a life. This has nothing to do with inmaturity. Because right now I have no respect for you. I do not appreaciate you putting down your classmates to make yourself look so "mature". Save it for when you are out in the real world. Do yourself a favor and enjoy your high school years....from the looks of it.....you are going to need it. GO PANTHERS.......GO PANTHER BAND!!

I never stated that I was perfect; I'm sorry if it came across that way. I'll be the first to tell you that I most certainly am not. I was merely attempting to state my position, and inform others that one cannot judge the group as a whole on a few select members, because band members are all not the same.
I also do not remember making the statement that band was all I can handle, because it most certainly is not. I am involved in more than band - much more, as a matter of fact. And I do have a life.
And yes, I do believe that putting other teams down when they have played their hearts out and just lost by a narrow defeat is pretty immature. I'm not saying I'm super mature or anything; I just think that the chant is embarrassing, and by the looks of it, most of the Lufkin fans agree.
I have been enjoying my high school years... :)
Sorry if I offended anyone, because I promise, that is not my intent. My intent is to merely state my opinion as the rest of you on this forum are here to do. Everyone have a great day, and GO PACK! :)

Well said young person....it really irked me when you made the comment for them to leave the organization and how you made sure that there will be a stop to it. My kid came home from school pretty upset....I thought there was some instruments thrown or cuss words said. Really....deep down....how much harm was there done (other than bad timimg...of which I am sure that they would've respected a hurt player). Lufkin is a team that everyone would love to hate. Be proud and take it all as grain of salt. Do we really need all this stirring up? And we need to realize that the person who started the comment.....is acting like a sore loser and now has Lufkin talking about themself...(who's laughing now?). If we were ever to lose....I am sure that we wouldn't take it out on something as petty as that. We would bow down gracefully and look foward to next year.

I'm sorry that the comment irked you so much, but there are some underlying issues in that irking comment that I will not delve into on this forum, because they are matters within the band program.
About the harm done: I'm not sure; I guess you would have to ask some of the other Heights players how it felt, because personally, I cannot answer that.
Also, I never said that I would personally bring a stop to anything. I quote, "It [the chant] disgusted me, and I am pleased to say that we are bringing it to a stop." Notice that I said "We", as in the whole band.
I apologize that your child was upset, although I'm not sure why. No one's feelings were hurt today at practice that I saw.

Wait a minute what the Band did was plain stupid. Why in the world would the band director let this go on and I am glad that I heard that this will be fixed. I go to the football game to watch a football game not a bunch of band idiots shout who's your daddy. Last time I looked I didnt see a band kid score a TD on HH. The band plays some good music but they have to know there place during the game and after. We barely beat a Team in OT we were favored by 30+. Im sorry that this one band kid was being mature about the situation and to see a band parent shoot him down for something that should have been fixed since day 1 is plain dumb. I think the band is good I really enjoy the new rap music they have been playing(Bone Crusher) but this is the playoffs I know when I lost to SLC last year I was in tears and that the last thing I would have wanted was the SLC band saying stupid stuff to us after we gave the best effort possible.

Well if we can't answer to how they feel...then why worry about it? I think that if we would've lost...and they started some chant of whatever.....they could've cared less about us.
I stand to be corrected about the "you" handling whatever....but it was the impression that you left. And my child was more angry than hurt. We all want to move on.....graduate and and remember high school memories...don't you? I even told that to some of the kids today. This (high school) is an experience that they will never forget and will always carry it in their hearts. be there for each other and have a good time. Everyone has flaws. And I am sure that Mr. Wiliiams, Lufkin ISD and everyone else is proud of the organization.

What a pathetic piece of trash you are...Your membership should be revoked for you stupid tasteless comments. "Whos your daddy", man way to leave your mark on Lufkin, a queit pathetic disgraceful mark at that. You truly are a disgrace to Lufkin.
The funny thing is, during the half time show, is HH fans were amazed by Lps halftime show, it was amazing. "WHOS HEIGHTS DADDY", man dawg the band surely was HHs daddy. They played great, without them HH would of lost the game. I think the most pathetic thing is, i actually noticed and pointed out how classy the LP players were. I didnt see one LP player taunt. They seemed like a great group of respectable kids. I admire highschool kids who just won a verrrry close game and didnt taunt. That really amazes me. What also amazes me is how a BAND could chant "Whos your daddy", to a 6-4 ,30 point underdog, whom lufkin only beat by 7. Someone take this fools sax away, send him to catilian, sh it someone teach this idiot some class. This rueful clown expects us to pitty him because someone from HH critized the band? hell no,,Your really the most pathetic piece of trash this board has ever seen.

I understand the bad timing and all that.. But I just really have to side with the band kids on this one.. Not because I agree with what they did, but because they are kids and a mistake was made. Those of us that are out of school can surely relate to doing something stupid when in school. Not that it is ok to make them, but I really feel like saying "it was bad timing and poor choice of chant" would have sufficed.
I'm glad nobody talked about losing all respect for me and hating me never came up when I screwed at a younger age. God knows I prolly had it coming a time or three.
It appears that the band (kids) are aware that it was bad timing and a bad idea. I think they have learned from this mistake. The bickering between fans could turn into something ugly and I see no reason for that. I think everybody, in the end, is on the same side and should treat each other with equal respect.
What I said to start this was wrong, and I'm too lazy to go back and change it, but there shouldn't even be sides.. There should be SIDE. The Lufkin side.
That's all I have to say about that...*insert Forrest Gump voice*

Yep, playing the flute will keep you out of jail. Instead of juvie-bootcamp, we shoud send them to bandcamp?
Nothing wrong with being in band, it's a great activity. I respect the time and effort those kids put into their performances. But, they still represent their school just as much as the athlete. Time to come correct.
The real question Mom, is Did you hear the chant and did you condone it? If not, did you say anything to anyone? Not like saying anything would have done any good, but it would have been an attempt.

Yes...I've heard it and to me it is not a big deal. There are worse things being said out there. What are we suppose to do.....go up there and slap our kids around so that others can be happy? Oh please.....I have better things to do with my children. Time to be always there for our kids.....let them hear what we have to say without belittling them. And then pray that they will take our advice.

You can sure tell by how long this topic has lasted that there are only 48- 5A football teams left in the playoffs, soon to be only 24..... at this point I am more concerned with winning football games than someone hollering " who's your daddy" at the other team. I don't like it and it doesn't show class. If it will make the LP band feel any better, you can yell " who's your daddy" at me, I will be sitting on the 50 yard line in Panther Purple. I have already put my lowly 2cents worth in with the school administration, I will leave it to them to make the call on this band issue. Other than this debacle of an incident, the Lufkin Band has been a TOP program all year long and a class act on the field. A tradition of excellence is the Lufkin Panther band. Mr. Williams has done an excellent job, the Panther band can probably out march just about anyone in the state.
Right now, all I care about is winning the football game Saturday.

On another note:
Is the "Warm up the bus" chant at a basketball game wrong, in bad taste?
I don't think so but I have heard that KC admin has banned the Standleaders from this chant as well as "Who's your daddy".
What are some good chants that are acceptable?

This thread is getting a little crazy!! If I am correct everyone has a chant that dogs someone. Lufkin used to do the song about John Tyler and say flush that john instead of big bad john. Also they would paint and bring plungers to take part as well. Its called rivalry, everyone has them. I hope none of you that are saying this stuff is wrong are Yankee fans, because you are supporting it with them as well. Chill out people, I saw some tape of a previous game where Plano East had a personal foul call on them, and the fans were booing the refs and cursing, yes, cursing you could here them over the speakers. After reviewing the accident, it was a very good call, so maybe we should not speak about others without looking at ourselves at the game

Nice generalization redneck.
No reason to cut the kid some slack, classless BS is classless BS. I condemn the Consol kids that chanted "go home rich kids" during the Woodlands game last week. Absolutely stupid and uncalled for. I told several of them to shut up, but only a few listened.
Uh, I would think the whole "kid" part would be a fine reason to cut some slack here. They didn't line up and talk crap about dead people or pee on graves or anything. It was a stupid chant and it timed really really bad.
Why sit and kick down, over and over, a kid? What do you gain from that? The point was made. The point was understood. It's way past time to move on. If people can't let go of this simple little thing, how on earth will they ever move on with other things in life?
Yes, the 'roids thing was a huge generalization. But it did get your attention. :D

Where was the band director? At Westfield the 'Director' directs and no one better sound a note without his approval. Can various groups in the band just start playing on their own? That's unheard of in most programs!

I disagreed with the timing and i thought it was stupid and disrespectful but it is not like this kid led a group to rob a bank or kill somebody my lord!! I have done many things that were much worse then leading a silly chant when i was in hs that is for sure. I can almost promise you this, and if i am wrong i apologize. I bet if Lufkin would have lost we would have heard a overrated chant by the HH fans and band?? Lufkin heard it 2003 when Garland upset them in the 1st round. I could be wrong but who really cares?? Band mom can answer this better than I -- but I think the director gives a little latitude in the 4th qtr. for the drumline and others to start things - but I could be wrong. Our band director is definitely a take charge guy - there is no chaos whatsoever in the band.
Important to note again that Lufkin cheerleaders are not permitted to start a chant directed at the other team - or chime in on a chant. I find Lufkin to be toward the extreme "untolerant" end on activities such as this - as depicted by most Lufkin posts here.
Two points toward those that find this is really no big deal - whether you are from Lufkin or anywhere else - remember it will likely come back to you in the form of an "over-rated" chant or go home, or start the bus, or whatever chant - is it still no big deal? And...this stuff escalates in college. The really tacky colleges start chants that make who's your daddy seem like grade school. Do you chime in like you did in hs -- or show class and refrain?

The Pflugerville students were chanting that at the end of the game last week (which see-sawed back and forth before they finally won). I just thought it was stupid--and I"m a Yankee fan.
I think we all need to encourage good sportsmanship with our kids and taunting at the end of the game--whether it's a one-sided affair or a close game--isn't any part of that. So to the Lufkin bank kid who's so proud he started this, I hope his band director and parents will try to impress upon him more positive ways to show his enthusiasm for his team. If my award winning high school band had done anything like that, I would have expected a stern lecture about our responsibility in representing our school and community in the band hall the next Monday.

I just now read the Lufkin band mom's post above--and it probably concerns me more than the band kid's post, unless she's his mother. I hope you reconsider your responsibility as a parent and an adult--if we don't speak up and tell kids what is expected and just hope they figure it out for themselves or ignore crass behavior because it's not that big a deal--we're not doing our job. I may make my teenagers cringe at times, but they know where I stand.

And so do I......I make sure that they respect authority. As I wrote before.....if administrators make a change....they will abide. I adore everyone of those band kids, and I correct them as needed. I offer supportive guidance not trashing them with name calling. Some of them come to a game probably very overwhelmed, probably without anything to eat all day and some have eaten, some of them work and some of them don't, some have family support, and some of them don't....... but all of them come together as a group and show the hard work that ALL of them have done. Be a parent to your kids and offer help to those who aren't as fortunate. Their are kids everywhere with different circumstances and sometimes school, band, choir, drill team, cheerleading, football...etc..... is their refuge. With that I bow down gracefully and I am sorry if you think different than I do. But hey....that's what all of this message board is about. ;)

I've heard the director has taken care of it so everyone calm down. Besides, it's about the only thing the LP drumline can do together and stay together. The band is good, but geesh.
It may have started in the Bronx, but LP had it chanted to them after a loss. That shouldn't be hard to figure out. I didn't like it then and I still don't. Maybe others will take notice of this thread.

I do not know much about band's at all!!, but i hear Lufkin has one the top band's in the state. They make difficult marching and formations look very easy. I hear if you know something about military style marching bands you would appreciate them. To the typical football fan they might seem boring but i hear they are very very good at what they do. I agree with what he said. Military isn't easy. Cor bands (not that im talking down on them) its really hard to pick out a mistake. Military, its easy to see that someone is out of line, is out of step or just turns at the wrong time. I find it hard to keep perfect. The Consol band really came through last night on that last P-ville drive. The band got going LOUD as Pflugerville came down trying to win the game. They even cut the tune short when Pville called a TO. Then started right back up again when they came back onto the field.
Great job kids. I actually took a few seconds prior to that drive getting too close and spoke with one of the drum major girls. I just don't think all these girls really understand football that well. I politely suggested that they play as loud as they could when Pflugerville got down close. I explained what a WEAPON a good loud band can be. Bless her heart, she listened.
After the game I thanked the band director. He had a bit of a smug smile on his face. I'm not sure he understood what I was saying, but I truly appreciated the efforts those kids made. Our band was right on top of the field in waco sitting around the 5-15 yard lines. Perfect spot to disrupt. And they did.
Kudos.

This thread needs to have more posts than the "over-rated" thread...
I didn't hear any "Who's your daddy" business today at the game... Is everybody happy with that?

And for the record, I heard none of the classless chants from the student section this week. Kudos to them as well.
