hes got several offers, but hasnt commited yet... hes got like a 4.3 gpa so hes gold at 6'3.... he plays basketball as well so no decision yet, and he goes to state in high jump. I dont want to say any thing until i know for sure.

Brandon Antwine- DT(5th DT in the nation, 2nd DT in the state, 20th ranked overall player in the state) runs a 4.8, kinda small at 6'1", but he is 275, and he is the strongest player at Garland. He's also a stick of dynamite, energy-wise. Most interested in USC and Florida, and loved his visit to USC, so that is probably where he will go.

Buddy Brumit-OG runs a 5.3, plays tackle, but has committed to play guard at Texas Tech. 6'3 285. Ranked the 85th player in the state by Rivals, 28th ranked offensive guard in the nation.

Devin McDowell- S/CB runs a 4.4, slightly small at 5-10 170, but is very fast. Has offers from OkSt, Iowa State and a few other smaller D1 schools. Will probably go to ISU to play with his brother.

Tim Crosby- CB fast, smart player. Has decent size for a cornerback at 5-11, but will probably need to gain some weight up from 170. Was defensive newcomer of the year as a sophomore, and played QB his junior year and first part of this year, but has moved back into the secondary after injuring his rotator cuff against DeSoto. He has offers from Minnesota, Tulane and Wyoming, and will probably go to Minnesota unless he gets other offers.

Other players that may go D1- RB Dante Sloan (5'10", 200 lbs), LB Terrance Henderson(6'0", 195 lbs, also plays baseball) size would probably be the issue, but he could go to a smaller school, OL Jeremy Kennedy(6'4", 300 lbs, but probably not D1 talent).

Check out Rivals or ESPN recruiting. They should have full lists of recruits from Texas that have either signed or that are ranked in the state.

We all know about Miss. State, Colorado and Tech. But UTEP is really hot right now. They were a fake punt away from beating Colorado last year at Reliant. Mike Price is great at developing players.

From what I've heard is that the colleges are still beating down his door after the injury. I would think that with broken bones and not a tore up knee they should not shy away, especially with a 100% recovery that the doctors are predicting. However, my bet is that he will not end up a Sooner and that he will be playing his college ball in the state of Texas! At least that is what we are hoping! Anywhere but OU!!! LOL

another note on Garland...John Murphy (S 5'9" 175) and Devonta Brown(DE 6'0" 195) have gotten D1 offers. Devonta will most likely play CB in college. Cedric Brown probably won't go D1, but I believe that is still 8 Garland players that will.

Devonta playing corner in college? That would be a sight. I knew he was fast but I didn't realize he was that fast. From DE in high school to DB in college? That's an interesting jump, but I like it. And I also doubt Ced would get a D1 offer... he's got the weight, but he's only 5'9"

After '01 SA Madison CB, and Texas Tech Verbal Commit Anthony Arline tore his patella tendon in a January '02 practice for the Army All American Bowl he had his offer from Tech rescended. He instead went to Baylor and has a good shot at being named to the BIG 12 SECOND TEAM as a CB now in his Junior season.

Have you seen OU?....they need a back that can work with a less than decent O-line. I'd give it a 75% chance of him still having his scholarship to OU.

James is going to play safety in college. Almost a sure thing. As for him going to OU, that is still ont he table. I don't think he is leaving the state though.

Copperas Cove will send atleast 5 to D1. Garner QB is lookin at A&M for both football and baseball. RB Buckram can go anywhere, Atchison is also A&M bound most likely. Powell DB/WR is lookin everywhere, while LB's Lewis and Henderson are recieving some offers from D1 and D1-AA. Also DT Porter is seein interest. So 7 most likely

Considering how big high school football is here, it's really poorly represented on TV compared to what a lot of other states have (UIL's fault?). Every year, I can't help but feel disappointed that only the 5A championships (and occassionally a 4A) are shown.

Just off the top of my head, from having Directv, I know all of Florida championships (though tape delayed) are shown, the Pennsylvania ones are shown, all of Michigan's, all of Wisconsin, Washington's top 2 classes, Oregon's top 2 classes, the top 2 classes in California's "South Section", top 2 classes in Colorado.

And while not available over Directv, I know Oklahoma shows most of its championships, all classes in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, Alabama, Nebraska, I believe all classes in Louisiana (if not then most classes), Mississippi, South Carolina.

The one difference is a lot of those states have their championships at one location, usually spread out over 2 days.

I know that the UIL apparently is strongly opposed to 1 site, but I think any loss they may have at the gate would be more than offset by getting a better deal from the championship site/hotels, etc. because of the increased number of people coming to that 1 location (and attendance may improve if fans could be able to come see the state's best teams and players from more than 1 classification), and also the TV rights of more than 1 game.

I've heard some of the reasoning for the current situation before... but Texas isn't like most of those other states I mentioned, where every place is about a 3-4 hour drive from any other point in the state. Here some people aren't going to attend a single state championship game unless they have a rabid interest, just because of the distance,... and most of those attending currently are so rabid they would go regardless of whether it is on TV or not.

O'Connor Recruits:

D-1
Dale Kouri - 6'2" 225 DE he just needs to work on speed and pack more muscle on, but he's got Division 1 on him right now. Last i heard Tulane was talking to him.

Kelvyn hemphill - 6'1" 185 Safety. Great speed plays the ball well, all around great player his brother went to Air Force, we'll see where he ends up but I know D-1 schools are talking to him.

D-1 AA

QB - Mike Klabunde 6' 1" 170 - Could possibly go D-1 with Army, but I know Texas State is looking at him. Probably not as a QB but maybe a reciever, or DB. Could probably also go D-1 as a punter!

D-2

Stephen Nicasio 6' 1" 280 4.89 40 squats 580 and benches 320
A lot of D-2 schools are contacting him, but i think his favorite right now is Abilene Christian. If he had more size I Definatley could go D-1 but I think the best fit for him is a D-2 school.

All of these guys are seniors, I've also heard of a couple juniors getting attention, just don't know which ones yet.

Derrick Williams- Will make an impact on any college roster on Special Teams
Rob Housler- 6'6" Has the ability to strech the defense when needed...
Hector Sobers- Most under-rated player to ever come through Judson... Well shock alot of schools when they pick up the blue chip athlete... top 10 in the state according to NIKE combine...
Travis Houston- Top recruit from Judson... with the grades to take him anywhere...
