View Full Version : Schertz Clemens, Smithson Valley, and SA Lee will move to 4A

With the opening of Steele High in neighboring Cibilo, TX and Canyon Lake High just north of Smithson Valley, these two 5A contenders will drop back to 4A within two years. SA Lee (the weak team in the 265) is losing students rapidly to an open door policy as students are now enrolling at near by SA Churchill.

I'm currently involved with the new CLHS project and from what I've been hearing from the people of CISD is that even when the new school is opened, SV will remain with 5a numbers.

If SV does not move down, I think either JISD or Spring Branch ISD will not be in 26 5A.

Haha, thats got to suck for Clemens plus it will be kind of easy for them to be in 4A because we all know that 4A is alittle easier than 5A with more chance of better players. I know this is for 26-5A but John Tyler has 1967 and Tyler Lee has 2527 because John Tyler students are coming to Lee but now they can't because of the new principal at John Tyler, next year I think Lee will lose a quite alot and John Tyler won't lose but they will increase. I am looking forward to have Flint and Gresham combine to open another school in a few years if Tyler Tax has enough since we have so low tax but that will make Lee population to decrease. If that happen than Tyler Lee will be 4A (maybe 5A), John Tyler 5A, and Flint-Gresham to be 4A (They would have high median housing value is what I am interested in). Anyways, good luck for Clemems to be 4A!

Don't be shocked if UIL starts making 9 and 10 team districts in 5A football with the advent of 4 teams in playoffs. SV is going to remain 5A. One possible scenario is the 6 NEISD schools, SV, Wagner, EC, & Judson, with Seguin & SM going to Austin and moving Highlands to NISD. Just one ideal being kicked around. Of course, it depends what NB turned in for ADA and other things. IF some of the CC schools drop to 4A, then that will change things even more. Speculation on what UIL will do is always fun & frustrating.

According to Texas Public High School Review... How come Southlake Carroll have 999 Students? but the Median Housing Value seem right to me but don't understand why 999 students? is it because its old or what?

I do not think there will be 9 or 10 team districts across the board because it would mean losing some long lasting non district rivalries. If JISD is moved out of 26-5A a "FAR REACHING" possibly is because of Hays and the Buffs moving down and SV does not move down JISD could be moved in 25-5A with the Austin Schools and Seguin and EC could move to 26-5A.

1. Lee will not move to 4A. Simple as that. They have had 5A numbers and they will continue to have 5A numbers.
2. It is not news that Clemens is moving to 4A. Everyone and their mother has known about this since 2002 when it was first announced that SCUCISD would be opening a second high school.
3. Smithson Valley will be losing a lot of kids to the new high school. I have always figured they get taken back down to 4A but I am not certain. The only info. I had seen was from the Comal ISD web site that didn't help too much.
With that said, you can count on Lee giving it their all regardless of being in 26-5A or some 4A district.
You can also bet the farm that Schertz Clemens and Smithson Valley will win and be successful in 5A, 4A, or 2A.
There are some programs that are just don't go 2-8 or 3-7. Clemens and SV are two prime examples.
It will be interesting to see what the U.I.L. does.
I have my own theories and predictions and I will go ahead and toss them out there.
Next year, I see the districts looking like this.
25-5A
Seguin
San Marcos
SA East Central
SA Southwest
Converse Judson
SA Wagner
SA Highlands
SA Jefferson
26-5A
SA Reagan
SA Roosevelt
SA Madison
SA MacArthur
SA Lee
SA Churchill
Smithson Valley
Boerne
27-5A
SA Clark
SA Holmes
SA Jay
SA Marshall
SA Warren
SA Taft
SA O'Connor
SA Stevens

Headliner I like your lineup as much as any I have seen. It makes too much sense so the UIL will probably not go that route. The problem child is still Del Rio. Just doesn't fit neatly anywhere.

Correct. I forgot about them.
I say send them to a different region or they should recognize they are the problem and UIL should move then to 4A based on their location to other 5A schools and their level of competitivness or lack there of.
Or just toss them in with 27-5A

Why would you think Boerne will move to 5A and not New Braunfels. Boerne is smaller than NB High. As as far as Smithson Valley goes, they will stay in 5A only because the new high school wont open until 2007. But when the new school does open, they will drop to 4A since the SV area isnt growing at the original pace anticipated. However, it IS still growing.

And we can only hope that Jefferson can get their numbers to the 4A level.

I don't think SV will ever see 4A numbers again. They take in too many students up the 281 corridor that are continuing to grow at a rapid rate. I also think that the 5A number may stay the same or lower since they are going to the 4 team playoffs.
New Braunfels is kinda land locked with Comal and Seguin having them boxed in the city limits. Is that right? Boerne is moving too slow on their new high school and the ISD is growing too fast.

Don't tell that to Houston Memorial, Spring Woods, and Stratford. Also, you might want to inform 175a,195a, and 205a, beacause the second round will be played in their stadium this weekend.(Tully Stadium)

You might be right about the SV theory.
As far as New Braunfels High goes, you are right to an extent. New Braunfels ISD is pretty landlocked with Comal ISD surrounding it 75% and Seguin ISD on the other 25%. NBISD takes up mostly the centralized, older areas of the city, while Comal ISD (Canyon HS) makes up the remaining areas of New Braunfels plus more outer areas of the city. There are a few empty pockets of land within NBISD, since the district recently renovated New Braunfels High to accommodate 2300 students, so I can still see the school move up. The latest enrollment count was 1910 students; that is definetly within 5A's reach.

Yes, there is, but it's in Houston. SBISD is the home of Tully Stadium. (http://www.springbranchisd.com/)

Nice lineup but I have spoken with coaches at Lee and JEFFERSON who have told me that they will be at 4A by the 2008 season. Lee will be able to compete and make the playoffs at 4A in a four team playoff district. The NEISD magnet school at the Lee campus is the only reason why they are currently able to report numbers (1947 this year) above the 1850 cut off for 5A. Those kids come from all over the NEISD and are added into Lee's official student attendence (rarely do any of these kids compete in athletics for Lee). Jefferson is currently 100 kids under the 5A cut off and may wind up at 4A as early as next season.

I have been told by my AD and one of the AD's at Northeast that we can plan on being in 9 and 10 team districts starting next year. The reason being, with the 4th team being added to the playoffs, they thought that making the district larger would make it a better chance that 4 quality schools would get in. Do not be shocked. Another thing Lee will be 5A the reallignment, Del Rio and Eagle Pass are always wildcards. Clemens will be 4A along with Steele. If CC schools drop to 4A, which I do not think they will because 4A plays better football than 5A down there. I think they will petition to stay 5A. (Unless they don't care about football and want to compete at an easier level in baseball and basketball) It will be interesting. UIL does not give a rats a$$ about rivalries when they do allignment. The only thing for sure is that they will put schools from the same school district in the same UIL district (If they are in the same classification, and the district does not have to many teams.)

Maybe, maybe not! It will all depend what other teams are in their district, if this happens at all, which I seriously doubt!
It won't matter one bit! They will get rolled in 4a as well if they don't improve significantly!!!

Mad H, if that comes about as a district, look for Wagner to be in the playoffs within the next 2-3 years.
