SLC has got some major rebuilding to do during the offseason after this year. I know this year is by no means over, but how will they replace the graduating WRs? Also, a good chunk of defense will be lost. Does the scout team have enough to replenish SLC after this season?

Probably and I think that most of the people that will be starting next year will be juniors. So next year may not be as good as a SLC team, but watch out for two years

No worries, people will step up during the offseason and summer. There are alot of good athletes that will step in and the dragons will be in the same position at this time next year as they are in right now. They have Newton, he is basically "Sportscenter Top 10 Plays of the Day" every game.

I dont know about every game, DR wasnt having much trouble with him before he was hurt, so how is he after the injury anyway?

according to his dad, he definitely will be returning to offense. he will have every wr reception on the books. should be an exciting off-season and spring training. there won't be any prisoners taken, i reckon.

Good programs just get it done. It's as much the coaching as the players. SLC will still be a pre-season top ten team in the state. They will probably do no worse than two losses next year including the playoffs.

yeah here's my prediction, they'll be good
Teams like SLC, Katy, Lufkin, North Shore, SV and so on, we just reload. This will be just as evident in Katy's squad next year where we only return 9 lettermen. The experience the underclassmen and playoff callups learn from upperclassmen on the teams mentioned will be extremely valuable.
I really feel that is what helps these teams. Each year, subvarsity guys get to continue practicing in fullpads with the big fellas four, five, sometimes six more weeks, and you can NOT discount that valuable experience.

this is absolutely correct. It is like having like a second spring football

Please give us a break! So what if the chamber is empty at the end of this year, just stick a few more shells in the magazine, **** it and fire! SLC has the coaching and the kids to reload that gun every year and be a strong contender and that is not going to come to a end in the near future and you all damn well know it! They are just starting a run like Converse Judson has been on for some 25 years. Sure there may be some years coming up that the Dragons don't win it all, but get over it! Year in and out, they are going to be top contenders for a long while to come!

no joke, and i guarantee at these schools the coaches stress to the callups that "hey, this isnt recess for you guys, you will practice and prepare just as if you're starting the game this week."
While other schools are back home washing pads and helmets and playing grabass during football period, these guys are getting better and preparing towards next year while helping the varsity win now. It's one of the main reasons why they saying "winning breeds winning" really holds true.

you are exactly right. The players also learn what is expected of them at the next level

Same goes at Katy pretty much. They participate in the position drills portion of practice, then work scout team. They don't get to run any of our own plays really, but they work on our play techniques in the position drills. In the actual team drills they just do scout team and then dress out for the games. The dressing out for the games and getting used to that gameday routine is big also, so it's not such an adjustment come next season.

the only real problem is that it is really crowded on the sideline. I would rather it be crowded then have a lot of inexperienced players on the team.

yeah same here, ESPECIALLY with our limited returners for next year.

looks like Katy and Carroll will be in the same boat next year when it comes to returners. Carroll has 52 seniors on the roster right now and will return maybe 5 starters.

i'm talking 9 returning lettermen. at my last count at the final game of the year, we had 9 soph/juniors on the varsity roster.
the biggest worry? ZERO of them were o-linemen

Carroll has no returning o-lineman either. The only o-lineman that they return were people that played on JV and then just dressed out for varsity. The good thing is that those players are supposedly really good.

Can I put my two cents in about my Panthers ,for next year. Offense will return all but about three, so they should be better there. Don,t know how many we are losing on "D". I really don,t think we can go the distance this year but maybe next year.........hopelly look out........... :D

i would only guess that Dodge has a pretty good team in line for his Riley to play QB for. It's the same every year, new faces in new places, same results.

the only thing that will stop the dragons from from being awful next year is Tre Newton and Riley Dodge.
But then again...you gotta have faith that Dodge knows what he's doing

wow sounds like the panthers will be loaded next year. Good thing for both Carroll and Katy advances far enough to face Lufkin they will have a lot of games under their belt.

same could be said for katy, the guys that appear right now to keep them good are Aundre Dean, Michael Fuda, and Trent Hunter...but of course, we all know there are players to step up.
