To any Garland fan or anyone who will be supporting Garland at Texas Stadium pllleeaasee bring any kind of noisemaker you have.
Cowbells, propaine tanks, buckets, coffee cans anything!!!!! I posted this on another thread but it has dissapeared so im starting a new thread about it. Im trying to get everyone i know at school to make at least coffee cans filled with marbles or coins to take to the game to make some noise. The football team said that they feed off the crowd and i think it would be a big help if we could rock texas stadium all night long. So please bring anything to bring some noise and disrupt the red storm.

The Carter Band seems to be sufficient for that. :)

Actually, our football team does feed a lot off of the band, but a good and loud crowd always helps.

Hey Storming,
Does "The Band" always enter the stadium playing and blowing their instruments? I noticed it this year when the Owls played the Cowboys.
I thought "where the heck is Carter's Band ....and then here the come,
marching and playing all the way into the stadium and down to their seats in the band sect.Kinda intimadating

Yes, Carter's Band, "The CC MArching Marchine", always makes an "entrance", it's tradition.

It will be real fun to watch them come through the tunnel at Texas Stadium. Most will probably miss them because of the early start.

Its going to be after 1:30, probably around 3:30 - 3:40. The team gets there usualy around hour and a half early, and its like a 45 minute ride the speed busses go...

The stands are gonna be rocking! Hopefully everyone is able to get there by halftime(I know traffic is awful at that time of night, it will be pretty hard for everyone to get from work to the game), but I hope that our fans can make a difference. I know I'll be getting really rowdy.

Please don't bring the gloc's. Best noisemaker but a little dangerous. That goes out to both teams. :D

The Send off is going to be 2:30-3:00 the band and Debs aren't even getting called out of school until 1:30 for our field practice.

Carter Band IS a noisemaker. Wouldn't call it much of a BAND. Can't really hear much above the loud blasting and lack of musicianship. If Loudness is the measure of a band, then they get high marks, too bad musicianship IS. Allen is Loud, but Good. Garland's Band is Good, and can be Loud. JT's band is just nasty..

One thing I bet is that Carter and Garlands fans will all be in their seats at half time when Carter take the field as well as both sides grooving in their seats when they are playing in the stands. You can't compare bands when they play different style music. Carter has always had one of the best jazz, concert, and symphonic bands around, but their marching band might be something you are not comfortable with. I've heard many Garland fans and many other team fans post that Carter's band is cool. You may be the only one or few who feel like you do.

Did i say the Carter Band wasn't cool? Did i say it wasn't entertaining to watch? If i did, please point it out. I said they played with a lack of musicianship? Is that bad to say coming from a musically trained person?

I've been a musician for years and probably before you were born. So don't try to teach me. I know what musicianship is. It is playing a piece the way it is written from the original score sheet not computers the way you guys write music now days (including Carter). If they play that way....then it was written that way. I've never received anything less than a one in any competition when I was in school. When you compete this year for UIL, look and see how many kids from Carter's band is right up there with the best. Carter will play a march in concert band and you'll be suprised, but don't knock their marching band because you've play one way and they play another because I don't think you were passed ouy any of their sheet music.

Are we really arguing band on here??????? I enjoy carter's band more than ours just like i enjoyed John Tylers band more. There bands actually entertain you during halftime while our band doesn't playing star wars.

Black&Gold06

Well the lack of desire to entertain like Carter, Desoto, TJT, etc does not stem from the students. We have the music that they play written out to play but our director will not let us play it. :-/.

the band directors dont seem to know whats going on during a football game. They always want to play some horrible stand tune that is in no way entertaining right when we are on offense and right in front of the band..... so seeing them play something as dumb as star wars should surpirse no one.

We weren't supposed to be arguing, but I just can't let owl06 think that Carter's band isn't musically talented. I'm not good with handling his insults and ignoring him.

I didn't say anything about you not being muscially trained. It doesn't bother me that you are nor does it really matter. But whatever, this forum isn't for arguing about bands. Take it to PMs if you want to continue.

i remember in hs and college our bands were far too conservative with their selection of game-time music. it was weird, when the visiting band would start to play we would get hyped up, even dance - a little - to the tune....when our band (especially in college) would play we would laugh and shake our heads on the sideline. in the pros there is no bands...well except that damn redskin band! i always had one question for them..."why?"

Doesn't KC have a cheesy little band?

Some pro teams have fight songs that sound like they were written by Pat Boone in 1961... :D

Personally, I enjoy both Carter's and Garland's bands - especially the little kid who came out with the drum majors last week - awesome. They are different styles, but both are good. I miss some of the songs the Owl band used to play, but I have, for the most part, enjoyed their music this year (Like everyone else, my friends and I are really tired of the UIL show - Bring back the Hustle!).

One more thing - I hope we get to see the Debs' "traditional playoff routine several more times - that would mean we keep winning...

Yea I agree! I wouldn't mind seeing Olympia say...5 more times?! :D That is a great routine. By the way, I love Carter's band and I loved John Tyler's too. Our band is pretty good most of the time but it is time to get rid of the war of stars.

Havent been to a Garland playoff game in 2 years... so its nice to see Olympia once again, and hopefully we get to see it a few more times!

I've loved watching Carter's band play since I first saw them in 02'. I love how they march onto the field, and music selection is always good! ;) Cant wait to see them Friday.

Mr. Beshears E-mail address. He's the Head band director at Garland.

Let him know how you feel. Make sure your friends tell him how you feel. He listens to the alumni more than he does kids... I have successfully pushed ONE tune (Go, Fight, Win) and got two removed. I can try to help, what do you want to see? What DONT you want to see (Star Wars, yes it's getting very boring for us)
