But I'll write about it, just this one time!

1991 D2 R4 Final at the rockpile (Alamo Stadium). San Antonio Madison vs. San Antonio Marshall Re-match! One week after Madison sets a state playoff record with seven interceptions on a then (12-0) Weslaco's QB Sonny Cavazos (Texas Tech QB 1992-1996) they return the favor by turning the ball over to Marshall seven times who scores on six of those which leads to a 42-0 route in front of 20,000 sleepy fans. What comes around goes around and that night it was Priest Holmes (Priest suffered a deep thigh contusion in the Madison vs. Marshall Week #5 match-up, a closely contested Marshall win, which forced him to miss all of Marshall's district schedule) and the John Marshall Rams. Coming into the game Madison running back Harold Williams needed only 81 yards to pass the 2,000 yard mark on the season. Considering he averaged nearly 150 yards a game that seemed like a no brainer. Unfortunately, with all the turnovers he fell short and ended his season with 1,981 yards. Despite all the great running backs that Madison has produced, that still remains the school's single season rushing record.

All of those lopsided playoff beatdowns that 25/26/27 5A Austin/San Antonio teams put out on Valley and Laredo schools in recent years have been pretty horrible. I think I was playing the last time one went the other way when in 1990's D1 R4 Final when a Koy Detmer led Mission team turned a 17-17 half time score into a 56-17 drubbing over Madison. He threw for like 350 yards in the second half alone.

Oh let me think.... the 52-0 (think that was the score) massacre Midland Lee put on SA MacArther after Katy was disqualified in 1998......

That Mac team had shot their load in a 14-7 defensive struggle against San Antonio Madison in the R4 Final. They were wounded when Katy got to them and Zombies when Midland Lee shot them in their collective head. They didn't even get to practice for that state final. It certainly showed!

 Don't forget that Madison got 5 TOs in the Clemens game last week! :p

Clemens performance was not nearly as bad as Mac or my '91 Madison team. Granted your QB looked like he was throwing ***** to be shot down, but we ran back a kickoff after half time to the Marshall three yard line before the return man fumbled it off of his own thigh into the endzone. Of coure Marshall recovered it for a touchback.

I don't know, I been watching the Buffs since my playing days ended in the mid 80s and that performance was pretty damn sad! :(

They (Clemens) managed three solid scoring drives and quality total yards. Madison's big play ability hurt them, as did the turnovers. Had the QB been throwing to the underneath routes the game would have been much closer. He can't throw deep period! The only reason he completed that one streak route for a big play down the sidelines was because the Madison CB did not look back to see the ball until it was directly over his head. Had he been in the proper position that pass would have been batted down or intercepted. The kid (D'Andre Guy) who tackled the Clemens receiver on the five yard line ran one of the fastest forty times at the Nike Camp in Fort Worth last Spring. Madison's skills players and DB's were just faster and that played a huge factor in the outcome of the game.
