I love Sammy Sosa's broken English quote.

Anyway, I'm referring to Kirk Herbstreit's comments tonight. He disagreed with the Gameday guys and said Tech would beat K-State, but tonight he said they were the most overrated team. I honestly think this goes back to last year when he was so sore that Leach wouldn't let those guys talk to Crabtree. He did move them up to 10 on his ballot for the AP this week, which somewhat speaks of him talking out both sides of his mouth.

Stuff like that makes Leach's job easier. Last week, one of the K-State WR's said they were going to put 40 on Tech and they only got to 28 with a short field TD and a blocked punt. That ensured that they were going to be ready.

The "overrated" Red Raiders will be ready for the Children of the Corn this week and will probably beat the 17 point spread going into the game.

I think you're completely misconstruing his words. Ya, he feels they are overrated, so do a lot of people. I see teams ranked behind them that would wipe the floor with Tech, notably USC. That doesn't mean they aren't top 10 or 15, only that comparatively they aren't as good.

I noticed you also forgot to mention the next part of his argument, where he said that they very well may be that caliber of a team, only that they haven't shown it to him yet.

If you wouldn't get so offended everytime someone didn't proclaim Tech as national champions, you might be able to see that he made a dead on assessment of Tech. A team that hasn't ever been this good and has proved nothing so far, but certainly has the capability of being a top 10 team.

don't taunt Lonny like that...

But it's ludicrous to think that Kirk Herbstreit holds a grudge because he didn't get to talk to Michael Crabtree last year, AND as his big unleashing of revenge is to call Texas Tech overrated until they prove they belong. It reminds me of people who buy into Nostradamus.

It's just like Bruce Feldman said, why does everybody bag on Tech for not playing anybody, but they give a free pass to Texas and the rest when they don't play anybody in non-conference, either?

If you beat everybody, the media says you didn't play anybody. Teams are only good if you lose to them or barely beat them. The media said Tech was going to lose to K-State and then they said the 'cats were terrible when they got beat by 30. Seriously, you're almost better off in the media's eyes to lose to a average to mediocre team and then beat a good team than to beat both teams.

Last year is last year. The media usually wants to gauge the past to form their present opinion.

Here is what I know about typical Tech in most recent years:

1. Typical Tech doesn't win at Nevada with Harrell playing his worst game ever. Those are guaranteed losses.

2. Typical Tech doesn't go to Manhattan and win and definitely not by 30 points.

Those 2 points alone are reason to think that Tech is different this year.

I can tell you right now that Tech is one of the 10 best teams. The question is if they're one of the 5 best teams.

Loony, Tech has gone 4-17 the past six seasons (excluding bowls) against game day ranked opponents. This very well may be the best team Leach has fielded but until October 25th Tech will continue to remain idle in the polls even if they win every single game until that point.

If I thought there was a conspiracy, I'd say so. I just think too many voters have agendas and vote like little kids.

who gives a rip. The country obviously knows who Crabtree is. he doesn't need ESPN's annointing, contrary to their belief.

Just win the f'ing games!!! then go get paid.
