OU will be the safe choice, but I am going on a whim and predicting that Texas will win this one. Colt can't throw 2 picks like he did tonight, though.
I say Texas' secondary will be trampled on at first, but I think they will create crucial turnovers later on in the game that will give Texas all the momentum in the 2nd half.
I may wake up in the morning and think to myself "what the hell was I thinking?"....but I just have a feeling right now....

UT wins by 10 because Oklahoma is down by 3 with 30 seconds left and Bradford throws a pick 6...extra point and then control the kickoff return for the W.

And the madness......begin!
Texas by 3...It's going to be close Colt is going to work on his small frustrations after today's game with his 2 interceptions. He will get his head straight and the DBs along with the entire UT defense will come to play. Roy Miller will come out hitting hard and hurting alot of people and the line will knock down passes all day. They proved they can put pressure on the QB and when he makes a hurry up pass they can stick their hands up and knock it down. The defense will get things together!

Austin News Report: Football practice in Austin was delayed on Monday for nearly two hours. One of the offensive players, while on his way to the locker room, happened to look down and notice a suspicious looking, unknown, white powdery substance on the practice field. The head coach, Mack Brown, immediately suspended practice while the FBI was called in to investigate. After a complete field analysis, the FBI determined that the white substance unknown to the players was the goal line. Practice was resumed when the FBI decided that the team would not be likely to encounter the substance again.

One day in an elementary school in Austin, TX, a teacher asks her class if the Texas Longhorns are their favorite football team. The whole class says yes, except for Little Jimmy.
The teacher asks, "What's your favorite football team Jimmy?"
Little Jimmy says, "The Oklahoma Sooners "
The teacher asks, "Well, why is that?"
Little Jimmy says, "Well, my dad is a Sooners fan, my mom is a Sooners fan, I guess that makes me a Sooners fan."
The teacher angered by his reply says, "If your dad was a moron and your mom was an idiot what would that make you?"
Little Jimmy says, "Well, I guess that would make me a Texas fan."

OK I'll go old school!
Why will Texas never fall into the ocean?
Cuz Oklahoma sucks!
A Texan was hopping on a flat piece of wood layed out over a hole going 12, 12, 12 and he kept repeating it. An Oklahomo walks by and asks what he was doing so he says I'm jumping on a board over a hole chanting 12, 12, 12. The Oklahomo asks if he can join but the Texan quickly says IDK if you can handle it it's pretty intense. Quickly the Oklahomo replies I'm from Oklahoma I am tough enough. So he decides to let him join. The Oklahomo hops on acting tough 12! 12! 12! he chants and after a few seconds the Texan hops off the board pulls it out from under the Oklahomo and the guy falls in the hole. The Texas puts the board back on and chants 13, 13, 13! :D

So as I see it:
OU O-Line vs. UT D-Line: even
OU D-Line vs. UT O-Line: even to slight advantage, UT
OU DB vs. UT WR: even
UT DB vs OU WR: advantage OU
RB's, LB's grade pretty even with me as well
OU QB vs. UT QB: a wash, but Colt better be careful running against OU, they are not going to be knocked backwards into the endzone like the Rice player.
The key to this game IMO is whether the young Texas secondary can be up to the task. There was a BIG jump in performance in the Colorado game for them, many great knock-aways. But this is Bradford. For them to be successful, the D-Line for UT will HAVE to be able to put pressure on Bradford, no mean feat against that outstanding O-Line of OU's.
The second key is coaching. Texas defense has stepped WAY up this year; this is not your grandpa's UT defense. But Stoops has been notoriously crafty in these UT-OU matchups. It could be that the new defensive effort for UT makes a difference.
The third key is running game. both teams MUST get a running game established and keep the other from establishing it.
Finally as always, turnovers. Both these teams will make you pay.
My pick? Head says OU by a TD, but heart says UT.
Going with the heart on this one: 30-28, UT.
As far as arrogance, give me a break. I have lived in Texas and been a life-long UT fan, and I also lived in OKC for 12 years. These are two of the most arrogant teams and sets of fans in the country. Did you see how the UT fans were treating Rice? The only folks I have met that were more arrogant than these two were........NEW YORKERS!!!!

I'm not as concerned about the UT defense as everyone else seems to be. I think the Texas offense holds the key to this game.
They have to be able to sustain drives and keep their defense fresh. If the Longhorn offense can do that then Texas has a great chance to win the game. Like chill said, this is where Texas could really miss Irby. It'd be nice if the Horns attacked vertically more often, but vertical is not in Greg Davis' vocabulary. When Texas goes go downfield, good things usually happen so it is frustrating to watch the Horn offense for that reason. That's always been my primary critique of Greg Davis.
He has more talent than most schools in the country, but is never very aggressive with his play selection. That is what has hurt Texas against OU more than anything else in my opinion. OU is too good and too fast to get beat by the horizontal game. Texas must establish the run with Ogbonnaya, Fozzy and Johnson and then hope Colt is ready to seize the big moment and get them in the end zone.

I like our front 7 and espcially the LB unit with Muck,Norton, Bobino, and Kindle. Best unit in the country. Gresham is the only one that really scares me for OU. Hopefully Orakapo and company can get to Bradford I like out chances. However if Bradford continues around that 80% completion rate then I think we will be in trouble.
Who gets the nod at RB for us. Obi looked good last week.

Greg Davis will be tested again by Bob Stoops. Colt McCoy is our leading rusher. Whos face is plastered all over the OU locker room ? Safe bet, Colt McCoy. He has a target on him, hell I would bet some OU alum has a bounty on Colt. Our offense has not been tested this year. It will take some River Boat Captain type gambling for us to defeat OU. We need a running back and a TE to step up! Our defense will do an admirable job, however or Secondary will have their hands FULL. Coach Muschamp will probably have a shot at replacing Mack in the distant future so this game and Mizzery will have lasting ramifications. Look on the bright side, we win both games and a National Championship is within reach. Can you spell S T R E T C H. ;)

The Ags and Horns were playing in C-Stat one year and the game was winding down in the 4th quarter - the horns with the ball. Well the train came rollin' through town and when it blew its whistle, all the Aggie players thought it was the end of the game and they all got up and left the field for the locker room.

I agree.. I'm not at all worried about our D... And I'm not "worried" about our offense either... I just believe they hold the cards in this one... As stated we have to get our running game moving early so we can grind first downs and open up play action... I dont want Greg to over think the run game though... He shouldnt be afraid to let Colt attack this team... I belive if we get them thinking the run and start to toss the ball around without it hitting the carpet a bunch.. Then this becomes Colt's game.. Meaning run and throw.. If Colt starts to chew yards on the ground, he will have them right where he wants them. Colt IS the X factor in this game and I know he is up for the task.. He is a true "Field General" and he does and will inspire those around him to rise up and punch them in the mouth... Something they havent tasted yet.. We have to be the "Bully". If Colt gets hot... Air and Ground.. this should become a UT victory..

Your spelling is terribly overrated.
Colt has shown he is big-time player, and big-time players step up in these type of games. With the experience of Shipley and Quan, I have no doubt Texas will be able to match OU's firepower. While Texas does not have a JCharles, Benson, or even Selvin Young, I am confident that the stable of decent RB's can play well enough.
When it comes down to the reason why I am at ease... I feel Colt is a better QB and leader than VY at this stage. If VY led the Horns to a title, Pistolas McCoy will have no trouble owning OU this year again. Colt is the next coming and he does not remind me of Chris Simms in 2001-02 or VY in 2004 (the other two years Texas was evenly matched with OU and should have won since 2000).
Colt is the TRUTH!

Your football jesus is one of the best collegiate players of all time, and had a season that will be hard to duplicate by any player, ever. I don't see that in Colt. I think McCoy is a great player, but I'd wait a minute before anointing him the second coming. Also, your team in general was much more complete and experienced in 2005 than this year. Texas could easily win this game, but tap the brakes a bit.
I got quite a bit of enjoyment out of "have no trouble owning OU this year again," Since I haven't seen McCoy own OU. I also like this bit where you said Texas should have won in 2001, 2002, and 2004. I guess that's why they play the games...

If you think McCoy in his Jr. year is a better QB/Leader at this point than Vince Young was, you truely are delOUsional. So far the real question is whether he can stay healthy a whole season and beat A&M.

True. But the rules of the field don't apply to the rules of the endzone.
Regardless...this game has one of the worst officiating crews I've seen in a while.
From the "roughing" the passer penalties on Coltie and the late hits to someone hardly hitting Floppy the Punter.

OK, remedial defensive rules for both #28 on the Sooners and the Texas PR team- don't freaking touch the guy after the play is done/ ball is gone...
(Herbstreit alluded to the soccer-like acting going on, but I really don't think the OU punter or Colt are acting. The refs are just being a bit overprotective. The rule on the punter is that you cannot run into him, though and UT did just that both times)

Best Texas game since the matchup against the greatest team of all-time. OU came out fired up and a bit more focused. They scored three quick offensive TD's, and held Texas to 3 points on offense. It was 21-10 (with a Shipley kick return accounting for the only TD to that point), but the rest of the day belonged to the Horns. the Thieves/Cheaters blew their load a bit too quickly. From that point on, Stoopsie tried a fake punt (and failed), the OU punter seemed more like a Manchester U forward, and McCoy, Cosby, Shipley, and OB1 had their way with the OU D. Oh, yeah, BMF'er's D played execeptionally well the rest of the game, allowing two TD's (one of them faciliated on the BS roughing the kicker call) .
McCoy was the MAN, no doubt about it. While Mizzou is a bit scary, those chumps will have to score 50 to beat the Horns next week.

Or, they could score 35 pts and keep Texas from running back a KR... and allowing the Kicker to get a thorough workout by kicking a gazillion fg's! Texas doesn't want to get into an offensive scorefest with OU, Mizzou or Tech. God bless their defense front-7 because if they breakdown anytime over the next 5 weeks, TU could wind up 2 or 3 losses.

Thanks for inviting me over SLC. The UT is all new to me. It's been hard. I dropped baby girl off at orientation and decided to stay an extra night just to make sure she would not need mom....she didn't so I drove on home. Then I left on Thursday from Houston to go a day early so I would not be late picking her up when orientation ended (it was just an excuse to my husband so I could get to Austin and know in my mind I was close to her). The time came though to drop her off in August....I did fine driving into Austin, but lost it unloading all of her things......I hate to admit it but I lost it...the tears flowed.
I'm doing fine now. She's having fun, making good grades except Biology. I've been to the coop and spent tons of money, I've driven down 6th street and it scared me (could not believe I was dropping my kid off in this town), found my favorite mexican food restaurant.
I've learned to do Hook em correctly now (I was doing it backwards) and embarrassed myself. I've learned not to like OU and A&M and I have my first Texas Mom t-shirt, a horn magnet on my bumper, a sticker that says my daughter goes to UT, and my first burnt orange bag to carry my teacher things in.
Am I doing okay? Oh, and I'm broke after paying all the expenses!
