Although I feel like we will be the much better team, this game could be a massive trap. Our two big rivalries lined up right next to each other seems a little dangerous. I still think we will win.

Lee just isn't the program they used to be right now. Permian wins big. I predict all of the former LSWC making the playoffs this year with all four 2-5A spots going to the Midland's and Odessa's, Abilene in 3-5A, and Cooper in their 4A district. I also predict Cooper to make a deep playoff run, and depending on whether Abilene goes D1 or D2, that Permian and Abilene to make deep runs. If Abilene were to go D1, they'd play each other in the second round I believe.

Lee has the district's top defense statistically. Last year's game was 31-7 which was closer than expected.
I see this one a little tighter than MOJO fans are thinking after this week's rout. Lee's running game looks formidable, but I think Permian's defense can gear up to stop any one-dimensional team.
My pick: MOJO 39, LEE 10
Empire strikes back

I do wish Permian and Abilene High would meet up again. But as of MOJO vs Lee, Permian rolls in this one. Permian 47 poor webles 20.

I'm not sure I could survive another Permian/ Abilene game. But it sure would be FUN trying!! :D
As for Lee/ Permian... Permian has to avoid any after effects from this week and continue to improve. They should win - but beating Lee (in any shape) is never a foregone conclusion.

not many coaches want to travel 2 or 3 hundred miles for a non-district
game, thats unfortunate for both teams, permian and abilene. thats what i was l referring too, both teams are very good but they wont get any real test till the playoffs..............

That has also worried me a lot. I was glad that at least last night was a big-game playoff type atmosphere. Last season we had two really big games to hang our hats on as big-time wins going into the playoffs. This year, I worry that our guys might not be quite as accustomed to the hype once December rolls around.

IMHO for Lee to win this game they need to slow it down, grind it out on offense. Play impeccable defense, and make Permian have to grind it out when we have the ball. Problem is, so far Permian is showing they are capable of grinding it out if necessary. I expect a game similar to last year's game.

We would meet in the quarterfinals if they got past OHS :) in the second round and Euless Trinity in the third and we got past Plano/Allen in the third.
However, the odds are against them being in Division1. Not impossible, but unlikely.

Ordinarily, this game would draw a big crowd since Mid. & Od. are only 20 mi. apart, but I think this time there won't be many Lee fans, esp. since Per.'s going to beat the stuffings out of Lee in the 1st half. If the Lee def. wants to make Per. grind it out, the Per. off. is very capable of playing grind-it-out fb (Per. can also pass pretty well, too). Plus, the towns of Mid. & Od. pretty much hate ea. other anyway. That'll be motivation enough for Per. even though these 2 teams are completely unmatched: Per. has pretty much everything & Mid. Lee doesn't have much. It'll be pretty boring in the 2nd half.

Exactly. Even though this year's game shouldn't be close, it might be. This game is still one of the biggest rivalries at this level of football. The Lee crowd will be the biggest visiting crowd at Ratliff all year except for our own crowd at the OHS game. Make no mistake, the Rebels will give it a shot. I just don't anticipate that their shot is better than OHS's was. The key for this week is to continue to improve, and we'll be fine.

The reason Lee has a better shot than OHS did is simple: Lee has a defense. The Bronchos on the other hand...

Well our D fell flat in the first half and our O couldn't get rolling either, Now Lee did play very well on both sides of the ball but the game looked like zero week against Dville. We will not go past the second round if we can't get some consistancy on both sides of the ball as well as stepping up our pass coverage and closing the gaps.

Not that they are bad, they just have not got to where they need to be to win state.

I do agree that Lee has a good team this year, I think they are the 2nd place team in our district.
I just wish for once we could play equally as well both directions, I agree that state is out of the question with the current state of our D.

I think our problems defensively tonight start and end with our ability to stop the run without having to blitz every play. Really, our pass defense this season has not been too bad. Some games we do seem to get into a relaxed zone coverage that is easy to exploit though. I don't think anyone has connected on a deep ball against us yet this year.

No clue. All I know is that they ran more Wing-T looks and 18-pitch/39 pitch than I have seen in a long long time. They executed it really well too. Contain was usually there, but they would turn back into the rest of our defense which was getting chopped to the ground. I was impressed.

At times ran the double wing-t as well(Lee). Have they been running it all year? I guess they took a page out of Clovis East's playbook from 2005. Either way it was pretty effective for a while.

I'm glad someone is willing to run the Wing-T still. If executed properly, it's impossible to stop. The ol' 18 pitch was our bread and butter for a long, long, long time. Seeing it again last night warmed my heart. lol

Yep. A lot of fans freak out when the opponent scores on their opening drive. Remember all the hue and cry when we "allowed" SA Central to score?
A well coached team, which IMO Lee is, will come out on offense and do something they haven't shown much of on film. A good coaching staff, which IMO we have, also makes adjustments to those new wrinkles. So far, our staff has made adjustments well.

Lee was tough as they usually are. This was by far the hardest hitting game I've seen this year. Ouiz was running what Perrmian ran for 40 years. He played in it and now has coached it. It just had our lads confused for a while. I think Lee will win out and finish second in this district.
This crowd was sparse compared to the 20,000 plus last week. Lee may have had 3-4000 there but it's hard to say. A lot of Permian fans who don't have season tickets sit over there. 4000 Lee fans are = to anyone elses 6000 so I didn't notice a lack of support at all. They are a loud bunch.
