LOL, I thought thta thread would get some attention. I'm only kidding though. This is just my first post since the game so I thought I would post a few of my thoughts about it. The game pitted 2 evenly matched teams. I wouldn't say either one of the or of state championship caliber, but yet they were very evenly matched. For the most part the game went about how I figured it to go. Overall, we were faster than the owls but they were more physical. The lack of depth really showed in the 2nd half. I was impressed with the way you guys didn't give up. The Garland side was really quiet most of the second half. Special teams killed us as it has all season long. Our punter has a big time leg but we routinely ended up losing the game of field position all season long. I take nothing away from Garland. We got beat by a good team and can hold our heads high because our kids competed. We won more games this season than the past 4 years combined. We overachieved and I for one was proud of our team on Saturday. Too bad someone had to lose but we knew that going in. We now know what level we have to play at to get back to where we want to be. If Garland comes to play, you all can beat Carter easily. Your kids didn't quit. Our kids didn't quit and they built lots of character this season. We learned a new offense, defense, coaching staff, and broke in several new players all over the field. The only thing we could'nt learn in how to win, this only comes with experience. So in closing, we'll smile. We had every chance to win this game, and most of us thought it was won including the players. Anyways, good luck Garland Owls. You all handled your business and deserved the win. I won't even comment on the Longview thing, lol. I guess its easier to stomach a loss when you already felt you've already overachieved.
So owl fans...Do you know who Kerry Maddox is now?? LOL. Good kid. He needs to be at home playing playstation. He's been noticeably limping around the past 5 weeks but dug deep. I only hope he didn't do any further damage to the ankle by playing on it. At some point the coaches should have rested him. He was only half speed though. You guys finally caught him when it mattered. Stay tuned though, the running back you all seen saturday..is the quarterback next year. Not bad for his first game at running back huh. I think we'll be bigtime next year, with any defensive help at all. Injuries and poor numbers finally killed us. You can only plug holes so long and we did all season long without missing a beat. In closing, Garland, this was your day to shine and you all did so. Be a tough out, I'd be proud to say we lost to the eventual state champs. I smile, because I know..we're baaaacck. Well, almost n e wayz lol. Good luck and stay injury free throughout. Lata. Cujo, "Are you still around buddy?" Relax, we set up nicely for next season.
