I don't know what all was going on at Memorial Stadium Sat (other than a great job by the Colonels) but I know that at the Garland/JT game the announcer came on and was giving scores to other playoff games. When he got to the SG/Longview game he said it was 14-0 SG and the Garland Fans ERRUPTED in cheers, about 15 seconds later the announcer came back on and stated that he had given the wrong score, that instead, Longview was winning 14-0. The Garland Fans then start booooing the announcer. It was good to see that there is a HEALTHY RIVALRY between Garland & South Garland but that when playoffs come around it becomes all about the City/District. Again, I hope that the feeling is mutual with the SG fans. Hopefully you guys from SG didn't burst into applause when you'd heard we were losing. :)
Good luck to my Owls and to the Colonels. Maybe we'll see you guys in the Regional Finals. Wouldn't that be an amazing match-up. The entire city would shut down.

Well seeing how there was only 2000 SG fans at the game I couldn't tell if we were happy or mad. I was happy. That would just be crazy if we play in the 4th round! I'm coming for your game vs. Carter. Let's sweep round 2!!! :)

Ill be there for the Garland game friday... and I think I might have to cheer for South the game after... I've never thought it would come down to that... ;)

I am not sure how many Garland fans that we will have at the South Garland vs. Lake Highlands game, since after the game we do celebrate at the square and all... It was a good try though. If the South game were before I am sure that there would be a better turn out, but since it is after, and we do have to leave to go and hoot and hollar at the square, I don't think that there will be too many Garland fans present.

I would rather watch South play and cheer for them, then go to our square and celebrate for 15 minutes... just my opinion ;). I hope others agree...

I know, I was just about to add something on to my last post, but I would like to see the game, since I have to come really late to the Garland game. But it is tradition to go to the square. But I am upset that it is starting soo early, because I want to see the entire game. :(

But I do agree that I would rather watch another game than go to the square to cheer for ten minutes. After the John Tyler gmae the team got off the bus for about nine or ten minutes, and then we cheered and they left.

Ok I'm back, had to go to lunch, anyway the team was out for about ten minutes. While they were out of the bus and actually celebrating, it was really crunk, but when they left, the mood died. But still it is tradition, and Garland is full of tradition.

Seasons aren't the same without playing NM... they need to get North Mesquite and Mesquite back into the Garland districts!
How is the future for NM shaping out? Still rebuilding next year, of bright horizons?

These should actually be 2 great games, so anyone in the metroplex should go. I can easily see either garland team winning... or losing.
That said, I'm gonna say the city of Garland will be 0-2 by the end of the night. So get the fans out there and prove me wrong!!
I myself will be in LH red and black. I think I'll go to the Carter/Garland game as well. Which team should I cheer for there?

Garland of course! ;)
But Garland and Carter have steadily improved throughout the year and it should be a great matchup... Its going to be another toss-up IMO, and it will depend on turnovers and if either team can capitalize on them... cant wait! ;) Too bad its at 6:00... its going to be hell trying to get there in 6 o'clock traffic...

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to the Owls game Saturday. I was listening on 92.1 KXEZ. During the pre-game, one of the broadcasters stated that if Garland won the game they would face Carter. He said Garland was coming into the TJT game with a 9-1 record. Their only loss was to Carter in 5-OTs during the pre-season. Geez, where did these guys get there stats? Garland was actually 8-2 going into the game with one loss to Carter and the 5-OT loss to DeSoto. Most of the time these guys do a pretty good job covering 11 and 12-5A games. I still didn't like the fact that they wouldn't give me scores from the South-Longview game because they had it taped-delayed after the Garland game. I guess I need to post my gripes on their website. Anyway, KXEZ will be broadcasting the Garland-Carter and then the South-LH Friday night. I'll be tuned in because it will take forever to get into Texas Stadium at 6 Pm with Friday night traffic. You can also hear the broadcast at www.kxez.com. Maybe they'll have their stats correct Friday night.

The future looks pretty good but how soon it will translate to a playoff team out of that district I don't know. We thought this was going to be a good year, but it didn't go our way. We had a lot of very close games, but we ended up 3-7. :o Lost to both Tyler teams by two points each, lost to Mesquite by 3 in OT, and lost to Longview by 7 despite being without our starting QB for the first time in the season. We had a few key injuries as well, and lost two of our best athletes to a senseless off the field incident before the season even started. Our worst defeat was a 9 point loss at Rockwall, and that game was a 2 point difference in the fourth quarter. The district game we won over Horn was by 1 point, so we were about as good as most of the teams in the district, just no better. I like how the team never gave up though, and never got blown out by anyone. We have a proud program, even in the down years. I'm planning a 'tribute thread' once the playoffs are over.
I miss playing Garland as well. Maybe we will hold up our end of the deal next year, and meet you guys in the first round. That would be great - just like the good ol' days. :)

Hey NMHS...
A coach I know said he thinks that next year's realingment will bring about a bunch of 10 team districts - he thinks its possible that the MISD schools might be put back with the GISD.
THAT would be cool...

I agree that Garland and South fans should watch and cheer for eachothers teams. I know most likely I will be cheering hard for South Garland and in the case we both win we could celebrate togeather.
ALSO!!!!! Anyone going to the game PLEEEAAASSSSEEEE bring any kind of noise makers. We are trying to get students to bring coffee cans filled with pennies, marbles, nuts and bolts or any kind of hard metal. Some people are putting togeather some more propaine tanks but if we can get everyone to bring cowbells shakers or anything that makes noise that would be great!!!

Might want to make sure you'll be allowed to bring stuff like that into Texas Stadium - if you can, I'm all for it, but it would really stink if you hauled a propane can filled with bolts all the way to the gate, then had to turn around and haul it all the way back to your car...

Haha. Very true. Those propane tanks are ridiculous! Let's make Texas Stadium RUMBLE!!! I will talk to Ron (StuCo President), he does schoolwide announcements everyday and i will see if he can remind students (and Parents) to bring noisemakers and to come support South. We need to ask the SLC guys if they allow those types of things at Tx Stadium.

Yes, a bunch of old toots like me will be there for both games and cheer both Garland teams. I know of about 30 that are going, in just my little Owl world.
Yes you can bring the propane cans to the game. You should see the act that Stephenville puts on with them before the game and during. Pretty noisy and intimidating for the opposing team.
You three kids are a mess........keep up the good work! :D

I'll definitely be staying for the South game. Tradition is great, but I would rather stay for 3 hours of what should be a great South-LH game instead of driving all the way back to the square to cheer for 10 minutes.
