Just questions regarding his move from New York, not really sure what the questions are exactly...I would imagine that will be kept in house by the UIL. Too bad he is out indefinitely because he was putting up some sick numbers. He was our Region 4 "player of the week" a few weeks ago. Here's to hoping he's able to get back to playing on varsity again.
The article below does state that he will be playing on JV for the time being. He may run for 700 yds/game on that level.
The 16-year-old junior tailback, who had rushed for more than 700 yards and seven touchdowns in Del Rio’s first three games this season, will not be allowed to play for the varsity Rams until questions regarding his eligibility are resolved.
San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District Athletic Director Dan Hurley would not comment on the specifics in regards to McKinnon’s situation, but said the school district is following the proper channels and hopes to find a resolution to the matter as soon as possible.
Until the matter is resolved, McKinnon can only play at the junior varsity level, Hurley said.
Hurley said the district was notified of the questions regarding McKinnon’s eligibility Thursday afternoon.
I spoke with Hurley and with head football coach Steve Hoffman this morning after hearing this “rumor” Thursday evening. When I spoke to both men, they both looked like they’d had a rough night.
The biggest thing to remember from this is that none of this is McKinnon’s fault. He did not come to Del Rio on false pretenses and did not come down here to be a big fish in a little pond. He came down here to avoid the perils of the neighborhood he was living in while in New York and to try and get a fresh start.
He was doing that. Hurley and Hoffman both told me he’s a great young man with a great attitude who had developed into a team leader not only because of his actions on the field but because of the way he interacts with the players off of it.
Now his varsity career will be put on hold until everyone in the UIL chain of command is satisfied that all of their questions have been answered.
I’ll admit I was upset last night because of the timing of the question. I didn’t question what was being looked at, but instead wondered why whoever it was who brought this forward waited until the day before our first district game.
But then Hurley reminded me that it’s better these kinds of questions be asked now, before Del Rio has a chance to play and win any district games. Good point, coach.
Hoffman said the team would soldier on and that the Rams’ other offensive weapons would be ready to pick up the slack. I know that because this team is so close this kind of thing would only make them stronger and make them want that win that much more.

Sounds like some rival coach made a call to the UIL.

Pretty much everyone thinks it was Laredo Alexander's coach that made the call to the UIL right before district season started, because that's when the suspension started. Hopefully everything gets cleared soon so he can continue to tear it up. This guy is only a sophomore so he still has 2 more years to develop and become the great RB that I think he can be.

Well, I'm pretty sure that LaMik will remember it next year when they face Alexander.
I hope everything works out for him.

Yeah, and like I've said in another thread, he is still only a sophomore, so he still has 2 more years to rip Alexander into pieces :)

He's about 5-9 or 5-10, 185. not sure about his speed, but he breaks huge runs all the time.
so far these were his stats before district season started, and if he had played the first 2 games in district, imagine his stats if he kept it up:
77 carries, 726 yards, 9.43 avg per carry, longest run is 75 yards, 7 TD's, and a 242 yard per game average.
I think he'd be well over 1000 yards with around 12 or 13 TD's if he was playing right now.
