this should be a good match of teams....clark has a solid team but i knwo madison is very talented with caflisch and green....oconnor always brings it and judson will have a tough time with them....jay has one of the best teams theyve had in years....i saw them play a very talented SA reagan team and dominate them 38-6.....this is what i love...great football

A sweep is possible, but I think it will be much harder than most people think for it to actually happen. I still think Clark and Jay have legitamate shots at upsetting Madison and Smithson Valley. It should be fun to watch !!

Do you think any of the 27-5A teams have a shot or are you confident that 26-5A will sweep again ??

Madison will beat Clark. Heck, Mac beat Clark and we could only mustard 2 wins in 265a. Boerne killed O'Conner and Mac went to Boerne and beat them too! Still Mac only had two wins in 265a.
So if you're asking me....Clark's a good old fashion blue collar team but they'll lose to a "BETTER" Madison team.
O'Conner has made good strides this year but they are not going to run on Judson and if your think their passing game is going to get it done, your wrong. Judson's offense is down but what isn't is their speed and speed killed O'Conner in the Jay game. It will kill them agian against Judson.
Jay has the best shot and unfortunately they are playing the best team in San Antonio. Jay might be the 2nd best but that's the probably. Bad draw for Jay.
The games will be good, heck much better then last week against 255a but 265a sweeps 275a.

Lonny,

Sure they have a chance.
Jay is a very good team and has enough to beat SV if they aren't on top of their game.
Clark has a good team and Madison has not always been consistent. They could always revert back to old Madison teams that get behind and lose their cool.
O'Connor is a good team and Padron knows all about Judson. He could come up with a gameplan to beat Judson.
I still think 26-5A sweeps them.

This is not a Debbie Gibson, "Only In Your Dreams" type of post, but definitely a Roxette, "The Look" type of post when discussing the Rockets. I think Love & Rockets, "So Alive" says it well. Rackley is in the background giving the boys a little New Kids On The Block, "You Got It (The Right Stuff)" speech. Judson just might have a little Expose, "What You Don't Know" in store for Houston. They'll be playing Bobby Brown, "Rock Wit'cha." It sure would be nice to play Westfield in SA, but we can do a Jets, "Rocket 2 U" with North Shore. Your boys will be doing a Belinda Carlisle, "I Get Weak" in the 4th quarter. I know this is a Debbie Gibson, 'Out Of The Blue" win. When it's all over, I'll be doing a Sa-Fire, "Thinking Of You" I'll be Richard Marx, "Satisfied." When Houston loses, they can do like Milli Vanilli and, "Blame It On The Rain!" :p Go talk to Whitney. She'll tell you, 'Where Broken Hearts Go!" We'll be referencing Queen's, "We Are The Champions" in 4 weeks. I may be 7000 miles away, but it will still be a Whitney, "One Moment In Time." :D

History will tell you that someone from the 265 will loose this week. It's just the law of averages. The hard part is figuring out what team matches up best against what team.
Friday 7:30 at Comalander
Clark at Madison - What Clark has to do to win.
Madison's two looses came against teams that did a great job of controlling the clock. The last thing you want to do is get in a track meet with this team they will beat you every time. Madison's defense is not the greatest in town and has been exploited through the air. I think Clark is going to have to be able to run the ball and keep Green/Guy/Caflisch off the field but I think the key will be how they throw the ball. If their QB can complete 12-15 passes and they can do a good job of keeping the Mav offence off the field then I think they have a good shot of winning. Madison beating Clemens was a big win for that program and the emotional high they were on last week might be too much to bounce back from. Remember last year Madison lost to Taft in this same round.
Friday 7:30 at Judson
O'Connor vs Judson - What O'Connor needs to do to Win.
Personally I think this is the worst match up of them all. Judson is starting to hit their stride. After loosing to Madison they have given up 13 points in the last three games. O'Connor is young and still looking for a true running back in the back field. The key here is O'Connor overcoming Judson defense. I don't think O'Connor is going to have an easy time against the Rocket secondary but if they can complete a few passes early and get into a rhythm, they might be able to establish themselves. O'C has a good defense and it should keep them in the game as Judson does not have the explosion they have had in the past in the backfield. O'C struggled against Jay and Madison this year because of the speed; I don't think Judson brings that type of game to the table this year. O'Connor will want a low scoring game and a break or two to go their way in the end. The problem is the breaks always go Judson's way.
Saturday 2pm at Farris
Smithson Valley vs Jay - What Jay needs to do to Win
In all honesty this is the best shot for 275. Jay is incredibly fast on offence and attack the ball extremely well on defense. Smithson Valley has stepped up their play a bit in the last few games and will have to continue that trend here. I can easily see the winner of this game playing a Houston team in a few weeks, so virtually this could be the Regional Championship even though it is week 2 of the playoffs. The one thing Jay has to do is take care of the football. Jay has had a problem with this in the past and no one is better at exploiting mistakes than SV. If Jay can minimize the mistakes and can slow down SVs wide receivers then I think they can run away with this one. I think this will be Sv greatest teat of the season, as they have not run into such a complete team this year.
Overall I think Judson wins going away by 2TDs, Madison struggles early but rebounds in the second half to win by 10, and the SV-Jay game comes down to the 4th quarter and who makes a mistake.

Thats the way every team has to beat us. Shutdown our key players or get the passing game going(which in my opinion doesnt work because we have a pretty decent passing D),but anyways....dont count on clark being able to shut down D'andre or Chris. D'andre got tore up by the coaches on the sideline during the clemens game and is ready to prove that he deserves that spot on the field.
Point is...the boys are pumped, confident, and talented.
Clark doesn't stand a chance.

Second round of playoffs wil no doubtedly be harder. I haven't seen O'Connor play so that one is a toss up for me, but I think Madison will take it, and I have a feeling that we are all underrating Jay, I think they'll take it as well.

Shooter - I agree with your breakdown of the 26-5A / 27-5A match-ups. I've seen Clark play twice this year and they have the ability to grind out long drives like you mentioned. I said before I think their pass "D" is a little shaky, but if they can cause a few turnovers and control the clock I think they have the ability to suprise Madison, but without question Madison is still favored to win in my book. As you mentioned I think the above might be a recipe for an upset if Clark can pull it off.
As for Jay and Smithson Valley I'm really looking forward to this game. I think it should be awesome. Again, I think Jay will have to play their best game of the season against their best opponent of the season and have no major breakdowns (penalties, turnovers). If they can do that I think this game could be a pick'em type of game that either team could win. I agree with a previous post that the best two teams in SA might be playing in this game. Smithson Valley has to be considered the favorite, but don't count the Mustangs out if they can avoid the mistakes. To bad it's a 2nd round game because someone is going home for the holidays !! Good luck to both teams in what should be a very competitive game !!
As for O'Connor I just don't see it happening. I think Judson is warming up for a fairly deep playoff run. Judson's defense will be too tough for O'Connor's offense IMO and although OC's "D" can keep them in the game I think eventually Judson will find the endzone to many times. 21 - 10 Judson wins.

I wanted to go back and see how this turned out.
Clark vs Madison - Ok so my spread was off but boy did Madison come out flat after the big win against Clemens. They were down by 15 in the 3rd quarter and had to make some gutsy defensive stands to pull this one out. I think the whole game came down to a few plays. TJ Terrell not giving up on kick coverage and chasing down the returnee from behind to save a TD was 1. On that same drive that started on the Madison 6 the Defense holds and only gives up a FG. The biggest part of the game was when Madison decided to punt with 3 and change left on their season. Clark gets 1 first down and the game ends and they move on. Madison forces them 3 and out and punt. Calfisch, Green and Co. move down and score the winner with less than 30sec to go and move on to the next round.
Judson vs O'Connor - Boy for the first couple of drives I looked dead on with this one. Judson looked like they were going to run away and hide from the OC. You got to hand it to the Panthers they did not give up when time and time again they could have. Judson basically did the same thing to OC that Jay did but Jay just kept the heat on. Both Coaches pulled out all the plays in this one, half back pass, toss back pass, reverse KO return, we even got to see the hook-n-ladder. Key plays in this one: With less than a min to go in the half and OC with some MO after scoring on the Toss back pass, Judson runs the Reverse KO return (aka Madison) for A Touchdown. This was important because Judson was also getting the ball to start the second half (at least we thought), The onside kick to start the second half was big because it got OC fired up again. Really the only other really key play was the pick at the end of the game and like I said "The problem is the breaks always go Judson's way."
On to tomorrow!
