The battle of the Brazos is upon us. Consol has won 3 in a row. (Schweet!):notworthy

But, no team has ever won it 4 times in a row. Never. :eek:

Can Consol make history? Gosh, I sure hope so!

Only watched the box scores and postings on this site for these two teams in district 12, but I would have to give the nod to Bryan, they really came back last week against Shoemaker showing they have a winning attitude. Good luck to both teams make the district look good.

The local paper says Consolidated is coming into the game banged up. Also, their two wins came against a 1-3 and 0-4 team. Their strength seems to be centered around the two sophomore running backs but I haven't seen any evidence thus far that a team is going to beat Bryan with the ground game. Big plays have hurt the Vikings this year (i.e. 5 TD passes over 50 yards) and that is still a concern.

All that aside, it is a rivalry game. What has decided the contest in the last few years is the kicking game. Consolidated has had a clear edge in place kicking but this year Bryan has an accurate and dependable kicker who is going to make it from < 40 yards. Bryan's punting game is better than the Tigers by 7-10 yards per punt.

Consolidated does some things better than Bryan; like, staying onside, not grabbing an opponent's facemask, tackling people before the whistle blows and hitting people in bounds. I don't know if Bryan can eliminate these mistakes, but if they don't do anything stupid and play their game tonight, I think they take the game.

My prediction: Bryan 27 - Consolidate 17.

VikingDad..who is handling the place kicking for the Vikings..is it still little? I know Bratson is doing the punting..that guy is an unbelievable athlete..watched him play summer baseball with the Brazos Valley Renegades and he was amazing...he covers ground in centerfield like I have never seen before.

Matt Little is the PK. The punter is a kid name Rex Urquhart. And you are right about Bratson. That dude is an amazing athlete.:notworthy

Yes, this used to be closer to the end of the season and it is at Kyle. Among other considerations, I believe this was moved earlier in the season this year because of the lack of availability of Kyle Field later on.

IMO, I also think both coaches wanted some time to recover should they lose the game so they don't go right into the playoffs after a demoralizing loss to the crosstown rival.

CONSOL WINS 44-33.
great game! well fought on both sides of the ball by both teams. came down to two turnovers that were in consols favor and i think those decided the outcome. great game:)

Four in a row baby! You can lose in the playoffs, but if you beat the rival, it makes winter go by just a tad easier. Tigers are 2-0 in district and on a roll. Could the game in Copperas Cove decide the district? Will the Killeen schools come into play?
