For those with good credit anyway..

With the credit squeeze, I imagine the demand for large ticket items is pretty scarce right now. Is it true you can get a Dodge Dakota or a Ford F-150 for around the 10k mark or just over? And Chevy are clearing all their trucks.

Got a note from a Fred Haas saleslady that Toyota are offering no payments for 6 months from the time of delivery due to Hurricane Ike, in Harris and surrounding counties.

The corollary, of course, is that if you have a large vehicle to trade, it doesn't get you very much. But if you would like a full size truck, there are definitely some good buys available at the moment.

As a side note to anybody getting a new ride... get a man's vehicle and not some weanie Yaris, Fit or Prius. We need gas prices to stay above 3.00 to ride out this economic slowdown.

Great deals on large 6's and V8's at the moment.

Largest car in my driveway is a Nissan Altima. I think I'm ok there.

Ha...Ha...Ha..Hahahahahahahahahah.

Sorry, but I am going with rational self interest over biting the 4 dollar gas bullet for my country.

I just bought a new 2008 GMC Canyon with a inline 5 cylinder and off road kit...
'Employee pricing' gets you to where you'd end up...but without the haggle...:D
$2000 in factory cash helps too...

Actually I was just exclusively concerned about the state. Not sure they'd appreciate $4/gallon in New York at the moment.

If you give me back what I lost in the stock market this week - I could be a really nice ride.

I've got too many rides to even consider another. ok, well I am still considering another. but not anything new. I mean, I guess I'd take a new(er) Mustang if I wanted it bad enough. But I dont.

I stick to 2 trucks and a car for now. And if I come upon the right Markviii Ima have to get it.

Should have bought a Toyota Tacoma.

Way better value retention and it'll last 10 year longer than the GMC.

Poor choice, mad. Poor choice.

I'll buy jap when all the US manufaturers are gone...
A pickup is not an investment...you'd have better luck selling me an annuity...;)
Who cares about trade-in value...I save an additional 35% on the truck through tax savings...:)

Ordinarily, yes. But the 08 Tacomas and 08 Corollas have been problematic by Toyota standards. The Ford and GMC small trucks (Mazda and Isuzu design so really are 'foreign' trucks anyway) have had much better reviews.

I'm sure Toyota worked out the kinks for 09. But as far as small trucks go, the Nissan Frontier has been the most impressive.

Doesn't GM own Isuzu?
