I noticed this week that SM did not pass by maybe two times the entire game. I think they only had one complete. It was against SV's 2nd team. Has this been the case all year? Have they been beating teams with nothing but the running game? It seemed that they were unable to pass, and knew it. In situations like 3rd and long, while behind, they would still run. After a while SV contained the run somewhat, yet they still stayed with the running game. I was just wondering if they have any passing yards this year? I have never seen a team do nothing but run, no matter the situation, or score.

Oh and one more thing, SM did not bring the so called 10-12K fans. I would be willing to bet that SV had more than SM did. I heard about this for two weeks, and just wanted to clear that up.

Thats what I cant figure out. They only attempted like 2-3 passes the entire game, and only completed one against SV's second team. However, you are saying that they still dont pass that much? Maybe like 5-6 times per game average?

I don't think they have had to pass this year. When you can get 300-400 yards rushing you don't need it in most games. I think it puts you in a weak position to come from behind when you are then forced to pass. Look at Nebraska all those years.

I believe it was Bear Bryant that said when you pass 3 things can happen and 2 of them are bad....

u dont hardly pass very much in the Slot-T offense...we run the ball about 95 percent of time and we are usually pretty good at moving the ball with the athletes we have so why pass unless its a 3rd and long situation or something to that effect...we just never was much of a passing team but the qb u saw play was the backup and he has a better arm than the starter in my opinion...just needs time to develop...look forward to seeing him play next year...

as for the fans yes we didnt have a big crowd as we normally do but when u schedule a saturday afternoon game when some parents and fans may have to work, it is kinda hard to fill the stands...im sure if it would have been friday night game we would have had a bigger crowd...hell after the game i had to go back to work until 7:30 last night ...im not trying to make excuses but i figure that is some of the reasons why it wasnt full...thats why i hate afternoon games...thought smithson valley would fill there side but they didnt exactly have a big crowd either...

Thanks for the reply, I didnt think I was ever going to get a fan that was still here. I see what you are saying, only there were several 3rd and long, and then being behind by 21 with little time, you would expect the pass. As for the fans, it was just a joke toward a couple of Clemens people. SM had plenty of people there, and so did SV. Someone was just saying that SM would have 10-12K on their stands alone, and would help due to noise. I really do think that they need to keep the slot-T, but they need to add in some shotgun along with it. Then run out of the gun, instead of pass every time and they would be deadly on offense. Either way, I was impressed with the running game like always. That offense is so hard to defend, its not even funny.

Hey your back, "high-five" lol. Stick around by all means. Also, who are you rooting for now? Come on, say SV... They will welcome you.

there average passing is 25 runs in between each pass. they will complete maybe 7 of the 25

They sure did have a good run to be a one dim team. Most teams like this are less than .500

san marcos is a sole running team....and they're good at what they do...in 3 straight games the passed the ball 21 times....9 when they were behind 9 when they were ahead by alot and 3 in a pretty close game....

Well you get 8-9 blockers on every down.It may have been good for 25 5 but, in the playoffs there are times when your gonna get behind. And just running the ball is cutting your own throat with running the clock, and being behind.

Was that an awsome pass, and catch by Fuller in the first TD drive, for a pressure 1st down?! or what!

Thats true.. As for that catch, I think it is what saved the game. Prior to that, it was either teams game. After that, and the following TD, I began to feel SV would take it. Another great catch that day was, I think, it was #27! It was the only pass that SM completed late in the game. Anyway the kid had to dive for it, and made a great diving catch. The ball knocked the air out of him when he hit the ground, but you have to love the effort. Most would just let it go over their heads. I do hope SV brings that play into the weeks to come. If they do, there is no telling how far they will go.

You can have 1 fan or half a million at the end of the game does it really matter. With that being said...

Both teams had nice turn outs for a Saturday afternoon game

But San Marcos had more fans then SV. I had a real good vantage point.

Your right, but during the half I was in the press box for a bit, and it seemed close to even.

You said you were a coach for SV. Are you still connected to the staff?

From the field it was pretty clear cut especially when you take out the 50-55 Kids wearing Green in the upper deck on the Smithson Valley side; those were not color blind spring branch kids.
