What a game!!! Congratulations to the Raiders for a great effort and to the Warriors for coming back & winning a tough fought contest. Our Raiders put up a valiant fight but in the end came out on the short side of the stick. Going into this game most people were not giving Ryan much of a shot at winning. I think you showed most everyone what Raider football is all about. Even when playing a game that most people thought Ryan would get blown out you dig down deep for that extra effort a make it into a game, you should be proud of that. I was worried most of the year about where the heart & fire was for this team, you showed me and others on Saturday that it still lives at Denton Ryan. You left everything on the field & you should feel proud of that. To those that I have been watching since 7th grade (Greg Garden, Austin Knight, Justin Posey, Burton Taylor, Jaiston Sawyer, Justin Fenty and others) I am so proud of the men that you have become. Hold you head high and be proud that you were part of something special at Ryan. It's been a pleasure to have watched you over the years. Again Congratulations.

I agree - You should be proud of those boys. Coach Florence runs a great program. Is it correct that DR is 4a again next year?

Chances are we will be moving down to 4A next year because of the new high school. But who knows what the UIL will do!

I think the kids returning should get to play against SLC. You know keep the rivalry going. It's one of my favorites even though I wont get another chance.

I would think it would benefit both clubs.

I heard from a source around town that Florence is beyond excited about the future coming up. He has said that this years freshman class is the best group he has ever had. He said by the time they are done he expects to contend for a state title 2 years in a row. Sounds like the radiers aregoing to be just fine in years to come.

Heard from a very good source that discussions are already underway between the two schools about a nondistrict matchup should DR go back to 4A.
As far as DR's future goes, the heir apparent at quarterback - sophomore Austin Axtell - played against Haltom and quickly reminded everyone of Justin Willis - from the number he was wearing to how he ran the ball. The future does indeed look bright.
BTW, for you Raider fans out there, DR will NOT be playing in the Tom Landry Classic next year. According to the HP radio broadcast, the games will be Allen v. Garland and HP v. Waxahachie.

The freshmen class looks very promising. Their lineman are bigger than we were on varsity except for me. :D The sophmore and junior class is very talented too. In my opinion DR has a chance at winning state next year. I'm glad to have been part of such a great program and I wish I had another year to play with some of these kids.

hang your head high. Denton is a great football town and the Raiders represent this fine city with nothing but class.

I have also heard good things about the underclassmen. The QB showed some promise during mop-up duty one game. Only time will tell.
