What's all this crap with you guys putting down the AH band? If you don't like their shows then by all means, take a break during halftime and go out to the parking lot and smoke your weed, drink your booze or whatever else you idiots do to pass time.

Those kids work hard, several hours a day starting the first week of August each year in the hot sun on boiling asphalt pavement. While you may think being in the band is being a nerd, grow up. Five times the amount of band kids go to D1 schools on scholarships than members of the football team do.

I have two children in the AH band and they are incredible kids. I respect the fact they know their show and their dedication to the program. Just like football, it's not all fun and games.

Both AH and Cooper have incredible bands and they are always there supporting one another at contests. Of course you would not know this as you are home in bed sleeping off your hangover from the night before while they are off at the likes of Midland or elsewhere competing.

You must have been the bully in high school who could not make the football team so you had to take your frustrations out elsewhere. I know you did not play football because if you had, your attitude towards the band would be positive.

And before you slam me calling me a band nerd know this. Heck yeah, I was. I was also a two-way starter for two-time State Champion Pilot Point in 1980-81. I was coached by the greatest coach in the state if not the country (other than G. Wood) and I assure you, mindless idiots such as yourself would have never made it in our program.

Unbelievable.

It's pointless in arguing buddy. People don't respect anything unless its football, just settle down my friend.

jakerz and farmer said nothing about your special band children so theres no need to go pointing the dirty end of the stick in their direction.

as for the rest of your post, if you are indeed an adult, then you surely must realize the futility of arguing for respect for the band kids.

Band kids put in many hours of practice beginning back in August. Our kids did three-a-days this summer.

That doesn't include the hours of practice for All-Region.

No, they'll never get respect of the football parents/fans. But, just ask Coach Lineweaver if he thinks the Trojan band is important. I bet he'll tell you they are vital. Last year, the band didn't make the trip to Odessa and the football team got whipped. Band was at the playoff game with Odessa and THS handled them pretty easily. The year before against SLC, the band got caught in that Texas Stadium traffic fiasco, but THS outscored SLC once the band got there in the second half.

Coincidence? Probably. But it was funny that there were so many superstitious Trojan fans that were worried at the Cedar Hill game when the band got there at the last minute. Two losses in the last two years and those were the only games that the band wasn't there for the whole game.

Call them nerds or whatever you want. But, they put as much effort and practice into the games as most of the football players. Haven't you heard the old saying, "If marching band was easy, they'd call if football."

Ok, you can throw your rocks now. :p

"Idiots," "smoking weed" and "drinking booze" at halftimes. Is there something going on in Abilene between the bands and/or the football teams that prompted this outburst?

Well that's because you're a Socialist.

The Band will never get the respect they want, and probably want more than they deserve. People always will think bands from the past were better and more entertaining.

Those are just facts. If people would accept them it would be easier. Oh yeah, ou sucks.
