Week 4 Recap

Woods/Ridge proved to be a worthwhile GOTW. Very good showing by both teams with Ridge edging out Woods by 2. The Woods timeout before the 2-point coversion try was the difference in this contest. I think it cost them the element of surprise. If anyone wants to beat one of these two, they will have to do it through the air.

Falls beats JV in a sloppily played game. Falls' run defense looks pretty good. Their offense needs more work after the extended layoff.

Creek put up alot of points on Langham.

Springs pulls an upset on Fair with alot of passing yards.

For Week 5

Ridge/Creek.....This could be a big score. I think Ridge wins, though.

JV/Woods....This could be a big score also, but all on Woods' side.

Springs/Falls....I say Falls' defense slows the Springs offense enough to get the win.

Fair/Langham.....If Fair doesn't get things turned around this week, it may be a long season for them. I am going with Langham in this one for now.

Your thoughts?

(Except for DB86's.)

Ridge/Creek - Ridge...that is all

JV/Woods - Woods in a big way

Springs/Falls - Springs's offense is pretty good - but our defense showed some guts last week. Falls wins in a fairly close game.

Fair/Langham - I think Fair rebounds and gets their first win.

Last Weeks Picks
Ridge / Woods
Agree GOTW. Ridge has advantage with experience and Nationally ranked players. Woods out to prove themselves to the many who have doubted their abilities to compete with 5-a varsity teams. For the haters, come on out Friday night and see if Woods gets its :Censor: handed to them. I know there are many that look forward to that happening. This will be a good game regardless of the outcome. Some will be surprised. ( Like I said, a good game and some would be surprised )

JV / Falls
This is always a good game regardless of either teams record. I think Kolby airs it out and shows the district how lethal their passing game can be. Falls scores first, fast and often. ( ]I thought Falls might put up 50, but a good win over a good rival )

Creek / Langham
I predicted before the season started that I felt Creek would be a team to recon with. Pre-season might make you question my reasoning, but this will be a close game. Langham has a good passing attack and will score a lot of points. I think Creek will be right in there with them. Look for Creek in a close one. ( Hit the nail on the head )

Springs / Fair
Fair has surprised me early on with their lack of offensive scoring. Surely Colby Goodwin will break out for some nice catches. Springs has the better record up to this point, but I think Fair gets it together for the win. ( Was hoping to see some life out of Fair )

This weeks picks

Ridge / Creek
Ridge has Russel but I think creek gives them a game. Ridge has this one but its closer than you think.

JV / Woods
I know JV wants to give us our 2nd loss but I think the Woods is not ready to let that happen. Should be a good game.

Springs / Falls
It might be Falls night to score 40+. Should be a good game but I dont think Springs can hang with Falls.

Fair / Langham
Unless Fair wakes up, this will be another nail in their coffin. It may be time for some offensive changes.

Good luck to all teams in 15-5A

Ridge over Creek. There will be alot of points, but Ridge I feel has the better D.

Woods over JV. Don't know much of either team, but Woods has more talent.

Falls over Springs. This may be closer than some might expect.

LC over Fair. Cy-Fair has to prove to me that they can hold on to the ball and win a game before I pick them. I hate saying that, but I'm a realist.

I think Jersey Village is going to play tough this week. JV will be hungry for a

for some inexperienced prey. C-Dub has not been good in the 1st qtr. and this

Ridge/Creek-Creek runs the spread well and after seeing what Lucas did to the Ram secondary, I think this game is closer than many expect. Ridge by 7
JV/Woods-the "hype" that everyone spoke of during the preseason is over. Woods is THAT good. Woods by +21
Springs/Falls-Springs has improved, but Falls gets it going offensively this week. Falls by 14
Fair/Langham-I agree with CF07 on the turnovers, but I think Fair hangs on to the ball this week and pulls out a victory. Fair by 1:eek:

I loved that one announcement though - had nothing to do with football but I was so happy when the guy said "here's a score you all might be interested in" and he gave the Tampa Bay Rays score and just happened to mention that the winning pitcher was OUR VERY OWN SCOTT KAZMIR!!! I watched him in high school and now I can watch him, hopefully, in the World Series.

What a week!

Langham beats an ailing Fair who looks to have a good running game as usual, but is not getting it in the end zone. Looks like turn overs and penalties killed them. 20-12.

Springs takes Falls to the limit! Falls comes from behind in the last 50 seconds to tie it up and then goes on to win 45-38 in 2OT. Exciting game.

Woods lays it to a struggling JV. 56-6 final.

Big surprise of the weekend.....Creek stuffs Ridge's run game and defeats them 31-21. Creek found the secret apparently.

As it stands now.....

Creek 2-0
Falls 2-0
Ridge 1-1
Woods 1-1
Langham 1-1
Springs 1-1
Fair 1-1
JV 1-1

This season is shaping up to be fun. Even if the district is down overall this year, it is going to be fun. After Creek's win over Ridge, I may have to change my projection of the final district standings. I think I will wait until after next week to do that. Good job 15-5A!

For Week 5[/B]

Ridge/Creek.....This could be a big score. I think Ridge wins, though.

JV/Woods....This could be a big score also, but all on Woods' side.

Springs/Falls....I say Falls' defense slows the Springs offense enough to get the win.

Fair/Langham.....If Fair doesn't get things turned around this week, it may be a long season for them. I am going with Langham in this one for now.

I think I hit this week pretty close. Only miss was Creek holding down Ridge's score and getting the win.

My opinion is that the teams that have been strong for the past few years are down a little this year, and the one's that have been down are up. Makes it kind of even across the board. I would not call it a strong district this year.

Looks like we've had quite a contention swing in the district with Creek spanking Ridge like little step children. I like their QB & RB. Plus they play like they're hungry. That will go far.

Someone needs to remind Shepard to tuck that ball away when he takes of running though. If i were his coach, i'd be all over that like stink on a cow patty.

I was at an Astros game in June and they have that message board above the mezzanine where you can send test messages and they'll show up.

One popped up - at an Astros game in June mind you - that said "Go Cy Creek, Beat Cy Falls". I didn't realize we even had a rivalry!! Right after, one came up that said "Cy Falls Rules" so we were in the house too! I'm thinking this might be the best Creek/Falls game in a while - unfortunately I chose that week to go visit my daughter in NY because I felt that was a game I could probably miss. I was WRONG! Falls needs to be prepared for Mitcham and the QB - that is going to be a hard fought, offensive showdown just like Springs was. But first we have Langham and they seem to be waking up too. The district is pretty even this year all around. Weird to see JV and Fair with no wins though.

ONE GAME AT A TIME!!:)
