Carroll and North Shore swapped places, with Carroll taking the 3rd spot..? Weird stuff....I guess because they weren't able to make it up North they are penalized.

Oh oh, Cove's back in the top 10, hate to see that target placed on the Dawgs in their district. But district play is upmost on their minds, not the rankings. Congrats to all the teams rated above.

It's a joke to see Longview and Friendswood so low. Longview loses their first game to a Top 10 5A team, 21-7 to Allen, then destroys ECA (La), upsets 5A powerhouse Lufkin and wipes #8 4A power Texas High with the floor... yet they sit behind the likes of Calhoun, Aledo and Everman???? Gimme a break!!!! Friendswood starts the season out beating Top 15 4A power Dayton and just beat #7 4A-power Texas City, last Friday. Yet, they are behind Steele and Springs???

Wait a minute. Does Josh Havard (Lufkin Daily News) get a vote? If he does that would account for the one vote Lufkin got.
Right now. Lufkin has no business anywhere the top 25 much less the top 10.

I agree with the Lobos. they will be a hard team to beat but in the end polls dont win games so it does not matter.

Josh doesnt have a vote and if he did he wouldnt make a homer vote. He graduated from Hudson anyway.

They are listed in alphabetical order. The names of the respective high schools are Carroll and North Shore. The names of the political entitites in which they are located are simply for geographic reference and are not part of the official name of either school.

I feel your pain but how do you think Naaman Forest feels right about now??? We get about as much respect as the New Kids On the Block....oh we are the new kids on the block and because we aren't the traditional power it would make sense not to rank us...or would it? Hey I'm just a fan

This will all be settled by the week before Christmas. Look for SLC to suprise many and take the 5A Division II crown. No one else wants to admit it but they don't miss Tre and Riley as much as many wish they would. Just my opinion.

Yea but most tend to think of our district as a "soft", "weak" district. So it's always going to be something or some kind of snub when it comes to a 10-5A. I'd like to know who the AP voters are and where they are located. I would be willing to bet most are in rural small areas and tend to vote for teams they recognize as opposed to the teams are actually good. IMO

I've been hilariously prospecting the Rivals system for years, now. While they blow Scout of the water, they still don't have enough overall knowledge to come close to ranking athletes based on level of competition, thus giving some true insight as to how they truly rank in the eyes of college scouts.

How many East Texas sports writers did you see above? You know all of the always bias being that most papers report how their writers voted. Don't expect a big change and don't put any stock in it!

Considering how high a percentage of the population is in the urban centers (Houston, DFW, Austin, San Antonio, and El Paso), you'd think those areas would have more than just 1 ballot per newspaper. I'm not calling out specific papers, and not saying they don't do a good job of being objective... just saying I'm surprised.

what about Abilene Cooper? I see them as a top contender in reg1/reg2 D1. Correct me if I'm wrong but they played Abilene and Garland very close. They are getting any recognition but they seem very good to me. I hate rankings...but love them at the same time.

I understand that a player must have video for them to be even considered above a three star on rivals.com. So, if a player doesn't have enough video for the raters to review, rivals scale is from 1-3 stars, otherwise it is 1-5 stars. Has anyone else heard that?

Here is how it works in my opinion...coupled with what you said if a kid PAYS to attend one of their camps and excels at least gains one extra star(without really seeing what he can do in a actual game)...get offers from major universities then he gets another by this time he has 4 stars for sure and potentially 5 stars...making the rivals guy look good because he just said a kid that got a scholarship offer from 'said' university is now a 5 star. This is factual information from a personal experience. Rivals never knew the kid I'm talking about until he received an offer from a major university. I would say this is true for at least 8 out of 10 of these high ranking kids. If a kid has 20 offers then he will be ranked higher than a kid who commits early and shuts off the whole recruiting process at his own discretion.
