With a tip of the hat to Great White Buffalo on the D2 board....
Across the prarie a cooler wind blows as summer has come to an end and the season of battle is upon us. The warriors of the plains have done battle across the land and return to face one another. Once mighty warriors have fallen. Once weak tribes have become strong. Many in the land of the Big XII continue along the path to the crystal football.
Firebird sits beside his campfire and smokes the peace pipe. He sees a vision of battles to come.
The Jayhawks once were weak, but now strike fear into the hearts of many warriors. Their great chief is angry and has grown fat on the flesh of fallen warriors. They have strayed from the path of the crystal football, but will still win many battles. The Cyclone of the north country blows loudly, but the wind is weak. The Jayhawks will not be buffeted by the winds at home.
The wagons of the theives of land have crushed the small frog. The thieves of land follow the path to the crystal football. All in their path run before them. Their horses are strong. Across the plains, warriors whisper that the Bear has awakend from his long slumber. The Bear roams north to challenge the thieves of land. The Bear will be crushed by their wagons and run home. The thieves of land wait to meet the Steer in the cotton fields.
The Masked Bandits have won many battles, but their victory is without honor, as they have robbed the weak and small. They still follow the path to the crystal football. The bandits travel north to the land of wheat, where the Little Cat waits in the fields. The Little Cat was wounded in battle with the squirrel eaters of the swamp. The Masked Bandits have swift horses and many bullets. They will shoot the little cat in the wheat field and their Great Chief will drink firewater in celebration.
The Farmers cannot defend their own fields, but must travel north to the land of the rich Cow Keepers. Their new chief did not understand their weakness. He must do battle with child warriors. The Farmers' crops have been destroyed by the Great Storm and the Farmers have been bitten by Red Wolves. They have only the scalp of a small coyote and have defended their lands against only a small army. The wealthy Cow Keepers are strong and shoot straight. They have won many victories. They will shoot the Farmers and stay on the path of the crystal football.
The blood of the Big Pig is still fresh on the horns of the Steer. The Steer is strong and kills all who come into his pasture. Tatonka of the mountains will enter his pasture and lock horns with him. Tatonka has been wounded by many arrows. The Steer will gore Tatonka with his long horns and crush him with his hooves. The Steer continues to seek the crystal football. He turns his head to the north and the theives of land.
For many suns the harvests have been poor in the land of corn. Though they have a new chief, their harvest is still small. The Corn Gatherers must travel to the home of the Big Cat. The Big Cat roars and rules the plains of the North. He still seeks the crystal football. His claws are sharp and teeth are long. He will bite the Corn Gatherers and they will fall.
