Boise State and Oklahoma State pops in the ranks...Vandy hanging on, but they will be out by next week.
I knew BYU and Penn State would jump Texas Tech on their bye week...I'm kinda glad I was right. I will be more comfortable with them in the #8, #7 spots once/if they beat Kansas State and Nebraska in the next two weeks.
oh lord.... they cant handle NOT putting a big televen team in the top 10...so now, here comes an average penn st. team to rally for the mighty mighty midwesterners... where's my puke emoticon?...i need it for this one.
i can handle BYU there RIGHT NOW, but it they have a close game against new mex or unlv they get booted out to the top 15.

Mike Sherman apparently left his nuts in a desk drawer back in Houston. He should see if someone could FedEx 'em up to College Station.

I don't know if we are the #2 team in the nation, but I like us there..
Fun and games are over...All we gotta do is find a way to win every game by at least a point...."Pretty" points don't really count now...
Same goes with everyone else in the Top 10....

Really, BYU is the only team that needs to win AND have a somewhat impressive point margin for the rest of the season to at least get into that #2 spot.

We were lucky to have beaten Army. I will always love my Ags, but I think Okie State's gonna murder us.......as will everyone else in the Big 12, with the possible exception of Baylor, but even that's not a given this year.

Art Briles is already showing his presence in Waco. They were annialated on TV against Wake Forest in week 1, but they almost came up with a win AT UConn, who is now ranked, and Robert Griffin is a huge double threat QB who is adding another diminsion to the offense:
Rating: 171.3
47/78 for 756 yds, 7 TD's, 0 INT
55 carries, 334 yds, 5 TD's

I think Okie St is pretty salty this year. Their going to lose a couple of games but they're also going to put major scares into some big boys along the way.
I think they being around #20-#25 is pretty legit though.

What kind of credit are you asking for?
The Big 12 while not considered the best conference in America has been given much kudos this year for being a very good conference. This week they have 3 in the top 5 and 4 in the top 10, in the next month or so that wont be the case since they will simply knock each other out. Happnd with the SEC in the last two weeks with LSU/Auburn and Georgia/Bama beating each other.
The Alabama team I've seen play would beat both Tx and Mizzou and give OU one hell of a game.

i would put Bama at 3 and Mizzou at 4.
Also, I would put Georgia ahead of USC....Bama was by far the superior opponent when compared to Oregon St.
other than those two, i find the rankings to be very reasonable.

Can't say I have much of a problem with UGA being behind USC.
Yes Bama is much better than Oregon State, that said, SC went on the road and lost by 6 while UGA was at home and got beat by 11. Anyboyd who watched that UGA/Bammer game understood it was not nearly as close as the 11 point score indicated. I have no problem with UGA being at 10 and behind SC.

Georgia lost at home, even with the black jerseys. 31-0 at halftime is something not even the most fervant Tide supporter could have imagined. It was disgraceful.
The Beavers defeated USC at home, but they are also coming off of a 9 win season. They aren't that bad of a team.
Georgia is not better than USC IMO.
ThEgReAtOnE
09-29-2008, 09:07 AM
This is pretty freakin' simple, IMO. Alabama has played in 2 pretty hyped games, against some pretty good competition (Clemson/Georgia) and they ran away with the score in both contests. The toughest opponents my Sooners have faced are TCU and Cincy. I'd take TCU and a Grutza-led Cincy team over Clemson, but neither TCU or Cincy hold a candle to Georgia. LSU beating Auburn is more impressive than Mizzou beating Illinois. Texas has been convincing in their wins over average (at best) teams, but they'll get their best test (for sure) at Colorado. Penn State embarrassed a team, Oregon State - who should be in the Top 25 (at least), and then beat Illinois, convincingly. Tech's fire power will be tested (some) by K-State and we'll see how deep they are. I'll give USC a slip because they should be able to beat Oregon State 8 out of 10 times. South Florida has a good win over Kansas. Florida lost Ole Miss - a solid SEC team, led by Snead - by 1 pt... that shouldn't boot them to the middle of the 25, IMO.
My Top 10 would be...
1) Alabama
2) Oklahoma
3) LSU
4) Missouri
5) Texas
6) Penn State
7) Texas Tech
8) USC
9) South Florida
10) Florida
BYU and Utah haven't been as impressive to earn a Top 10 spot. They follow Auburn (11) at the 12 and 13 spot, respectively.

I think the A&M offense will play a lot better this weekend as they might try to switch off between passing and running plays instead of just sticking with one the whole game. Oh and J-Train might actually get the ball this game as he is actually quite effective every now and then...
However, I still think the A&M defense is way too bad to even slow down Oklahoma State.

Ok State 45

I would love for this to happen. However, I don't think it will. If we had any kind of descent O-line, we'd have a formidable offensive unit IMO. The defense is pretty bad. Trent Hunter looks to be one of, if not the best player on our defense right now and he's a true freshman!

I never did give my .02 about the poll. I don't really have any gripes right now. Although I'm not a big fan of some people using the poll as their pulpit for some teams to prove themselves before getting votes and not asking the same of others, it all comes out in the wash.
I'm not going to gripre about BYU. They've already played their best games to move up in the polls. BYU can go 12-0 and they'll still end up behind Texas Tech if the Red Raiders go 13-0. Tech will be ahead of BYU next week as long as they play pretty good at Kansas State. I'm sure the Coaches are somewhat like the AP guys and they're just waiting for 1 good Tech game in the Big 12 to move them up from the middle of the pack. Most AP guys have Tech in the Top 10, but there are still 16 who have them from 11-17 and they're just waiting to see if Tech really is better this year.

I can see A&M beating someone or "sometwo" they ain't suppose to....Might be this weekend...
I wouldn't bet the house on it, but it wouldn't be surprising to me...
