Wow..Thats all I can say.

First, Congratulations to South Garland. You won. We lost. Plain and simple.

Second, I know a lot of us Lobo fans are going to blaming the loss on the refs..and in the first half I would agree. But really come on guys, we could've easily won this game had we played like we had all regular season long.

Something was no clicking at all and we ended up losing the game because of it. The offense wasn't there all night long when we needed it down the red zone.

Zach missed two field goals, and not to say anything bad about him, but it cost us the game.

The defense played great. They did what they had to do but gave up that one touchdown (and how that SG player stayed in bounds to make it a TD I don't know).

The Lobos lost this game. The refs were absolutely HORRIBLE all game long but the Lobos still had MANY chances to put this game in the bag and just didn't. Theres no way around it.

I could go on and on about the refs..cause they were just bad. But why? Theres no reason to. Not like it is going to change the outcome of the game or make me feel any better about the loss.

South Garland obviously wanted this game today more than we wanted it. Do I think we're better than South Garland? Yea...a lot better. And at times it showed. But today wasn't our day.

Good luck to the Colonels on the rest of the post season and good luck to the rest of the playoff teams.

For the Lobo player, you guys had an outstanding season this year. The seniors, you guys rock. You guys won four district championships at your stay at LHS and you lost 3 regular season games in those four years. Hats off to each and everyone of you. We loved watching and supporting you and we will do the same for you on the college level.

To the guys staying, keep your chins up. You are the new seniors and you will be the guys to take us to the promise land if we're going to go.

Win or lose, once a Lobo..always a Lobo. GO LOBOS!

Classy as usual Lobo. I didn't see the game, so I have no opinion, but I sure appreciate you and others, as the cream of the Lobo fans, for how you lose as classily as you win. There are a couple of guys, though, that I hope are stewing in their own soup, right now.

Nice job Lobofan. We had over 100 yards in penalties in the first half. I'm sure your just as sick about this as me. UGH! Another year down the drain. I'm almost glad I wasn't at the game, it helps ease the pain a little bit.

Congrats South Garland on the win, as much as it pains me to think we lost. You did your job and won the game. We had our chance at the end but didn't capitalize. I think this Longview team was great, but great teams score in the final minute when your on the 5 yard line. Maybe this is just the frustration speaking...I'm rambling again so I'll leave on Congrats to SG on pulling one of the biggest upsets ever in the first round.

Now I just don't know what to do for the next five weeks..

It won't feel right supporting Lufkin for a full two weeks much less five.

Marshall sure will be getting my support I know that...*sighs* This has to be the hardest of the past five playoff losses. Just because all Lobo fans know how well this team really could be but instead we'll be sitting home..

What is with this freakin curse that we can't break Lord.

It sure does seem like there is a curse. No matter the coach, no matter how much talent we have, no matter what game plan we have, we always seem to take an exit when we shouldn't. I have a hard time routing for Lufkin the beginning, but I get used to it after a couple of weeks. Each year that goes by without a state championship, the harder the playoff losses get. Maybe next year will surprise all of us and lead to a deep deep playoff run. Ya never know. I feel nauseated when we lose, but it will get better after about a week. I can't describe how disappointed I feel. I have sympathy for the coaches and players...

I really think you guys need a new coach.

I appreciate the thread.

A new coach?

Why? We've gone 10-0 in his first two years as a head coach and have two district championships. 22-2 in his run.

I don't understand the 3rd and 1 call I must say that though where he had MARK JOHNSON! a freakin sophomore run it to the left. Instead of trying to center it up with Ivory or McGee..I just dont get that part at all. Or to mention the 4th and 1 and we throw it?!?!?!

Like I said, I wasn't at the game, but a new coach! Let's not make any rash decisions here. I'll take King any day. Like LoboFan said, only two losses so far, and in those losses people tore him apart. Was it because we aren't used to losing, or is it that the gameplan and play calling was really that bad? I'll leave the answer to someone who was at the game...

You have the talent to win, but it doesn't look like you'll get over the top. It was the same story with the previous regime, too. All you need to do is look at Lufkin. I don't think King is a better coach than Outlaw and you have to have more talent than Lufkin to advance. The flipside is to get a coach better than Outlaw.

THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE, JUST A STATEMENT.

If you read the Dallas Morning News Article on the Longview, South Garland game, go back and read the last two paragraphs.

The reporter asked head coach John King about the officiating. He replied,"No comment. Put that in bold as the headline."

The fact that the reporter would even ask that question is telling. The fact that any head coach would respond that way is also very telling.

I hate to get on the Refs but the Garland \JT game was officiated by a SA crew that was just horrible. I know Garland had no penalties the whole game(which is a suprise) and that we won the game but some of the things that went on were very surprising (and obvious) . It seemed as if they were confused most of the time.Do you know what reg. the SG\LV refs were from?

I have a lot to say but I know people will find a way to call us cry babies or something of that nature . . . I am not the one to call this a conspiracy (I don't think it was of that magnitude) - what I will say is that my Lobos didn't lose, it is my belief that they were ousted . . . Oh yeah, we missed the (21 -yard - - at the four yard line) field in the closing seconds that would have still won the game. That's not what I am talking about, LV lost this game in the first half - I reluctantly knew it and so did many other LV fans. I've watched Texas HS Football for some 30 years now and I have never (never ever never) seen a more terribly called football game in my entire life. I dare and ask this question, what chapter was these official out of????????????. . . Penalties where there were no penalties and vice versa, the interference call where there was none, phantom late hits, the taking away of three points after the field goal had already been made (mysteriously, SG had called for a timeout), phantom unsportsmanlike conduct . . . let me stop, because I am still pissed!!! Damn near every time we would make a big play it would be followed by a yellow flag; sadly, we came to expect it!! I remember looking at the frustration of our players and fans. Immediately after we went up 10-0 early in the second quarter is when the debauchery began. . . Maybe I am being overly emotional, but I don't think so -all of LV fans were totally drained before the half. We knew we had already been beaten. I can only imagine what the players were going through. Appearance wise, they looked like walking zombies (the walkng dead). Not to take anything away from SG (you get away with what you can), but I saw LV players tackled by their face mask, SG players blatantly holding, illegal blocks and sadly with the officials within five feet of the act; and what was even worse, LV was the team bombarded with penalties. A sea of yellow flags . . . When LV coaches questioned calls and none calls they were hastily waved off . . . If its possible for politics to be this abrasive in THSF (and I am now convinced that it is), well . . . It is of my opinion that this game film needs to be under review by the UIL or whatever governing body of authority. As far as I am concerned, what I and many others saw yesterday left a black-eye on Texas High School Football forever. Good luck to everyone else, especially LP, Marshall, Kilgore, Gilmer, Tatum, Palestine, Arp, Omaha Paul Pewitt, Big Sandy, etc., if you're from East Texas, you may very well be next!!

My heart goes out to Longview. I sat in front of an older gentlemen at the SLC/IMac game who is a stout follower of the Longview Lobos. He was in Irving visiting relatives and was dying to see a football game so he came to scout SLC. At the end of the game he turned to me and said, " SLC's offense is as good as last years, but that defense is staggering." He felt Longview had a chance but Longview would have to control the ball/clock and keep the SLC offense off the field. If SLC wins out, they still dont get a chance to play Longview. What a bummer!!

I understand how some of the Longview supporters feel about the refs. Carroll has had its fair share of bad officiating this year, but ours was not a result of any sort of bias, more of an incompetence. There was the offsetting pass interference which I have never seen called and the fifteen minute talk amongst themselves for a penalty in the last 5 minutes of a blowout game. While I do see these instances different from what Longview experienced yesterday, I find it odd that one team could be dogged by the officials so many times. I mean I have heard Longview fans upset about officiating in about 3 other games this year. Now granted it was not on this site as you guys have handled yourselves very well especially after this last game. After a few times it is not the refs, but there are actual penalties. Now I was not there and have not seen video of it so I am not going to pass judgement on the officiating.

Ask Irving Mac. Their run through sign yesterday stated "Break The Curse". Needless to say run through signs do not work. Good luck next year Lobos, I was as surprised as anyone.

i really hope this year has shown the fanatical lobo fans that they need to shut up...........

the sad thing is that last year we beat 2 state champs, a state finalist, a state semifinalist.......

this year we probably will have beaten 3 state champs, what does it mean????????

nothing, absolutely nothing..........officiating, play-calling did not lose us anything.......

SOUTH GARLAND SCORED MORE POINTS THAN WE DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow, what a shocker, that is how we lost..........

cant wait till next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The Garland / JT game, the crowd was very annoyed with missed calls. Looked like alot of holding going on. I hope to see the replays from both the Longview / SG and Garland / JT on GRS this week, to check out the referee situation. Seems to be alot of discussion about it. I know as I sat there and watched the Garland / JT game, I was not happy with all the missed calls, but thats not why JT was kicking our butts for 3 quarters, they were just good.

i play for sg and no matter how you look at it we beat longview i understand that some people from longview believe that there were some bad calls against south garland. Bad calls are apart of the game and you should just except them because thats how the game is played and that is how it will always be played

So you admit there were several bad calls? hmm...interesting

Anyways, I will say that we still had a chance at the end of the game and we didn't do it. That's the real reason we lost. We had an oppurtunity at the end of the game and didn't pull through.

I wasn't at the game so I can only speculate. But, if Longview had 100 yards of penalties in the first half and SG had none - they were being "refereed". Unfortunately it's usually the poorer refs that feel they have to "make a statement" or "keep a game in check" - which is code word for clamping down on one team.

The poorer officials simply can't keep up with the athleticism of the faster teams such as Longview. They almost "assume" late hits and facemasks when there wasn't one. The Lufkin game was decently reffed - but Lufkin got called on a facemask that simply never occurred -- it was a hard hit that just rocked the guys head - rather than 4th and 7 - it's first down - and HH scored a few plays later.

At the end of the day LV missed a 21 yard fg and lost. I haven't seen the stats - but I can't believe McGee AND Ivory were held in check by a team that does not have a world-class D - but, sometimes the perfect storm doesn't produce alot of answers.
