Anyone else remember back to the pre season, when KT had South Garland ranked in his top 25 (I can't remember what number, but I think it was in teens). Tough early season losses, personel changes and other factors led to the Colonels dropping out of the poll and off of most folks radar. Now, lo and behold, they pull off the biggest upset of the year so far.
KT knows his stuff.

South Garland was pre-season #13 I believe. They have some very talented players, and they returned multiple all-district players. We thought they'd be very strong if they found a QB to get the ball to the talented skill guys. We didn't question the defensive talent. I think SG might be a couple wins better had Florence been the man from day one.

Wouldn't this kind of make KT2000 look bad...Longview was in teh tp 5 all year long and got beat by...not top 5...

I was very impressed, The QB is a sophmore! their line is HUGE LV never got to him, they threw the ball all day. Defense was impressive, they had a hard time with Vondrell but this kids hung in their they new they had a chance throught out the whole game. They kept it close. The score should have more more, the interception the SG QB threw at the LV 7 yrd line, the reception then fumble at the LV 20. These kids are very underated. I really did'nt think they had a chance when the game began. But the defense seemed to making some hard stops. They should win their next game. Remember the QB is a sophmore not a lot of experience, but when you have all day, OH! and he can run too.

That is probably correct KT,the couple games i've seen SG play this year Florence seems to mature as a QB as the season has progressed.
Florence is only a soph. and i'm sure will only get better.Watch out for SG in
the next few years.

I don't think it makes him look bad at all. Top ten teams get upset all the time in TX.
You would be crazy not to put Longview in the top 5 during the regular season.

I'm not saying he looks bad, but by using the logic that this thread was started on, it would make KT look kind of bad.

Not really. Upsets happen every year (remember Garland vs Lufkin in '03?). My point is that South Garland is not some nobody from nowhere who no one every heard of. They were expected to be a solid team by the KT's, and, as it turns out, they were right...

That's the beauty of the playoffs. All bets are off.
I feel like Longview was one of the top ten teams in the state during the regular season without a doubt. As we saw with Lufkin and Longview this week, nothing is guaranteed for the top ranked teams.
Those upstarts like Harker Heights and SG read all week about how they have no chance, and that can be a very powerful motivating factor. The margin for error in the playoffs decreases to almost nothing, and any team can be beaten if they don't show up ready to play.
