This was a very disappointing game... It wasnt that we (Memorial) played poorly... We actually dominated defensively and did well (at times) offensively... The reason it was disappointing was we lost mostly because of 2 key mistakes and our massive amount of penalties and dropped passes in the 4th quarter...
On our first possession we scored easliy and looked very fluid on offense and passed a lot (which is unusual for us)... They got the ball and litterally gained 2 yards and punted... We got the ball and our Olineman missed his block and the Dlineman picked it off and returned it to the 2 yard line... They scored on that... On the next possession we fumbled and they returned it for a TD because the QB held the ball too long... (Those were the key mistakes)... Anyways we held em to 3 points from there on out and our offense was stagnant for the rest of the half (no momentum)... In the second half we had a long drive that resulted in a TD and missed the 2 point conv... But on every possession after that we ended with a lot of 2,3, and 4th and really longs... 1 4th down was 4th and 38 (penalties killed us in the 4th quarter)... on our last possession we kept getting to 4th down and 9ish (once again penalties)... Our first was converted for a gain of about 20 with about min 30 left and we were driving at their 45... Plenty of time... But we preceeded to have 4 incompletions including 2 of which (4th down and 10 was one of them) that were literrally dropped (unusual for our WRs)...
Anyways I felt like we played really well defensively especially but our mistakes early and our inability to catch really cost us the game... I would say 7-8/10 we might of won that game... But we just didnt... Hats off to Strake for capitalizing on our mistakes... But I felt like we lost it instead of them winning it...
Good luck Strake Jesuit on the rest of your season... Next up Stratford  let the rivalry commence...
Stats stuff:
Daniel Neumann had 2 TD receptions in the game...
We held their offense to a total of 121 yards
We (yes Memorial) had more passing yards than they had total yards
