this Friday night at GPISD Stadium!!!!! Get your tickets early cause they will not last long. Both undefeated and it will be a show. No game in the state can match this one next week..... North Shore vs. Westfield...... The hills on each side of the stands will be full so don't be late. Game starts at 7 pm. The home side parking is plentiful, the visitors side is not bad but fills up quick. I am in the upper level of the box and can see for quite a ways, and last night the Pearland folk were backed up all the way to the Beltway even as the game started!! If late you will be parked across the street at the Middle school or down the street at the college. Don't be late, you won't want to miss any of this one!! Go North Shore.........................

Just remember that Lonny does not speak for all of us. Lonny is over seas and will not have to put up with us watching what could be the aftermath.

Lonny will tell you that it is going to be Judson. But he ate a lot of crow last year. And this year judson has 4 losses. But Lonny has those special glasses that let you see into the future, so we aren't supposed to argue with him. My espN tells me that reg 3 winner makes the finals and has a great chance to be state champ. In the words of Forrest Gump," I may not be a smart man, Jenny, but I know what football is."

Tyler Lee, who did not even make the playoffs. They were fortunate to win state last year. Westfield did not play as well in the final as they did against Judson and Northshore. Who do you think will win?

I agree with you that Westfield wasn't good enough for Tyler Lee but they were in 4th Quarter when they got serious when it was 28-7 Tyler Lee. Either North Shore or Westfield will win Division 1 Champ.

I said what I said for a reason. The Houston guys are getting way ahead of themselves for assuming they have the title wrapped up. Trinity can beat you. Even Judson's 4 loss outfit would be a few point underdog right now in calpreps. I have a great deal of respect for the Houston teams, but I think it's ludicrous to think you have a lock on the title. That Westfield team last year was mistake-prone and didn't hit their stride until the playoffs. Katy blew it in the quarterfinals. Yeah, Westfield should've won the title, but they didn't play their best. Judson might not be able to beat either Houston team, but I do know they won't lay down and I don't think either of them are going to blow the Rockets out of the water. They have talent and are coming together unlike last year when they peaked early.

I agree Leander! Look close, it's mostly Northshore folks talking all this early Championship talk. I still don't see this game being much different than last years except that Westfield gets to win on a very nice field.

The Westfield/NS matchup is an interesting one. Lots of similarities in the programs. Both teams have an abundance of talent and athletic ability. In the past both have underachieved based on that talent level but have had recent success. Both teams have had a tendecy for turnovers and excessive penalties but have generally had enough ability to overcome these mistakes when playing an average team. Against teams with similar ability but more discipline they didn't fair so well. I think that NS probably plays in the weakest suburb district in the area with the Pasadena schools and although they attempted to schedule tough non district oppostion, Elsik and Hastings are WAY down and The Woodlands was way over rated. The win over Pearland was good but Pearland has yet to prove they can win at the Katy, SV, SLC, CJ,LP level. On the other side Westfield appears to be the real deal. North Shore makes too many mistakes and Westfield wins handily.
Being a Katy supporter, I wish we had gone D I this year. I'm tired of hearing or reading
in the local rag that theres always a better team in R3 than Katy, and if we do win it all in D2 then we didn't have to play Westfield or North Shore as in '03. No denying NS had a very talented team in '03 and that Katy team was the weakest of the championship teams, but sometimes certains styles of play make for unexpected outcomes. The way I see it, those guys haven't had to play us.

Last year I remember picking Westfield in this game and I was laughed at big time. Everybody called me a moron, idiot and said that I do not know anything about football. This year is a different story as both teams are highly ranked and most definitely championship caliber.

Nothing in life is guaranteed. But you gotta admit the winner of this game will definitely be the favorite fromthen on. I'm not sure there's another team in d1 that has the talent these two have. But, anything can happen. Look at Longview.

Once again I notice a thead with "style of play" vs. "athleticism".
It was posted by a guy from Katy and I in no way am trying to disrespect Katy. They are the measuring post for any school that is trying to win multiple state championships. But don't fool yourself, Katy has athletes(real good ones) and Northshore and Westfield have "styles of play" They also have great coaches. I will speak of Northshore because I have been watching them for twelve years. They have coaches with college experience. It is a great program from the head coach all the way to the water boy.
It took Coach Johnston 12 years to get his first state championship at Katy. It took Coach Aymond 12 years to get his. There are many similarities, if you care to look. Katy won another one three years later. If Northshore wins state this year, it will only be two years later. Year in and year out starting in 2001( the year Katy and NS lost to Vince Young) Northshore has been Katy's equal. It was not always that way , but IT IS NOW. Katy's district has not gotten better over the years, it has gotten worse. And they have been beaten by Lufkin early a couple of times, so they have a few chinks in their armor. Believe me, Northshore was better than Katy or SLC in 2003. NS is not better this year, but they would give Katy and SLC all they can handle and might just beat them. Especially SLC, because NS has a real good secondary this year and a pretty good pass rush. I believe Westfield is as good this year as Nothshore was in 2003. It will be a real chore for anyone to beat them. They were a junior laden team last year and now they have 13 or 14 starting seniors.I went to see them and they are scary good. They should win state. I hope they don't. I hope the other Mustangs win.

My Opinion: I think next week game will the most exciting between two of them. We will see how good North Shore is and we already know how good Westfield since they have so many returners back into this year from state championship against good offense and better defense last year (Tyler Lee). Westfield offense is more powerful this year than last year.

I've seen Westfield twice now this year, and they don't compare with 2003 North Shore in my opinion. In the two games I saw Westfield, they did not strike me as a completely dominant team. They look great at times, but they'll look vulnerable as well. North Shore 03 redefined dominance on the high school level for me.
I think we'll see a good game on Friday night, and I'm leaning towards the Shore at home.
I see the Rocky 3 storyline playing out here :) . Defending champ gets humbled by the hungry challenger, and the champ has come back for the rematch with new focus to reclaim his place atop the throne. Aymond should cue up the DVD this week. ;)
Regardless of the result, the winner can't think their work is done because there will be three obstacles left to conquer.

I agree, I just don't have any idea whos going to win this???? Westfield a better offense and North Shore a better defense (maybe since they played easy team beside Pearland).

All i can say is that we havent really go as much credit as deserved this year because of the westfield loss last year. Like i said before at the beginning of the season NS wasnt clicking and since then they have changed my mind. Before last friday i would have said westfield but after seing the concentration and determination they had against pearland id have to say ns might pull this one out. Its scary kinda like watching 03 ns all over again except without bobby reid. This will probably come down to who has the ball last. But it has the potential to be lobsided like last year if one of these teams doesnt come out to play.

Some how Lonnie is going to screw with the numbers where reg4 will be favored over reg3. Converse state champs! Read it first here. Converse, you are no Tyler Lee(this year). I think Katy is underselling Westfield. I say that but am still hoping for a Northshore upset of Westfield. I was very familiar with Northshore in 03. Literally. I believe there is a strong similarity between 03 NS and 05 Westfield. I will probably get the rath of Lonnie, but reg4 will get hammered by reg3 this year. It ain't 96 anymore. You can wake up from your sweet dream Lonnie. Westfield can beat you three ways.... with the pass(Beasly has completed 80% of his passes 54-62 for 15 tds), run(Sweeny and Beasly run fast baby!), and defense(may not have quite the stats that NS has, but are senior laden and can shut down your offense with speed and pursuit). They have earned the mantel of favorite for state. That being said I am hoping for a Northshore upset. If NS wins against Westfield it will be the second biggest upset in their history. I believe Tike Hardeman and the Mustang win against MacArthur is no.1.

I bet that there will be an overflow crowd at Northshore on friday.
Someone should be filming it for mass consumption. DVD's would sell like hot cakes if it turned into another epic track meet like the 01 NS vs. Madison(V. Young) game.(please never make Northshore play in the Astrodome ever again).
One x factor that I want to mention is NS has a young but much improved FG kicker. When he is feeling it he has a chance from fifty and he is a sophomore.
I hope it does not come to a FG, but if it does NS has a kid that can really boot it.

I don't fool with the numbers and report them like they are. Last week I was posting what Calpreps and Jerry said and I had a system to create my own numbers and reported them as is. I even said Clemens was a 15 point favorite on paper using my system, but I was still taking Madison to win.
Right now, Jerry would say that Westfield is a 19 point favorite over Judson. He'd also say North Shore by 18. He doesn't use home field advantage, but Westfield in SA is worth something.
Calpreps has North Shore by 3 and Westfield by 5.
I'll run my numbers and let you know what I see.

I agree with with rocketman on the scores. I will not agree that I am happy just to make the playoffs. Westfield should have a very dominant team if last year is any indication. They returned mostly intact. If NS could pull off the win, travel to Converse, we just might have a chance because NS would have been in a very stressful game the prior week. If I could book thier accomadations, I would guarantee a win. J/K
There is still a couple of games to play before that would happen. Good luck to WF and NS. This would have been a showcase state championship game. Too bad it couldn't have worked out that way. If ET plays either one of these teams it will be just as exciting from what I've read all year about the teams.

I ran the numbers and gave Judson a 3 point home field advantage over Westfield, but didn't throw in any points for mojo, history, or whatever you want to call it for any of the teams.
North Shore would be a 25 point favorite over Judson.
Westfield would be a 15 point favorite over the Rockets.
There is no more fuzzy math than predicting Houston games. They don't play outside of town and when they do play, they lose most of the games. There are a lot of bad teams in the area and it inflates some team's numbers. It's the same story every year. Calpreps says Houston is crap and Jerry says some of them are pretty good. When I see 180+ teams getting blasted, that tells me that most teams aren't as good as advertised. I really think you have to take some of the point spread off the top to be realistic.

Calpreps doesn't know Shi**. You like it Lonnie because it paints Judson in the best possible light. You know the San Antonio area has more crappy teams than Houston. There are some schools here that can sneek up on you. HISD is weak, but there is so much more to the Houston area then just HISD. In fact half of HISD is now 4A. This website knows more about Texas football than does CalPreps. A lot of the old timers like Dave probably have not even seen Northshore or Westfield play. CalPreps has definately not seen much Texas football in person. Judson has had it's day in the sun. They are not what they once were. Westfield and Northshore are emerging as powers in region 3. That's not brag , just fact.

When Northshore beat MacArthur, I believe Mac was ranked 2nd in State and Northshore had never even been to the playoffs in their history. I think that was Aymonds first year at Northshore. Maybe his second.Mac had an all world QB who went to Baylor of all places and tore up a leg.
