I grew up in East Texas and went to John Tyler in 1978-1981, back then it was a 7 team district and a few years we had 8. Texas High, Marshall, Longview, Lufkin, Nacogdoches, John Tyler and Tyler Lee -- a few years we had Longview Pine Tree as a member. I am wondering if they are going to re-group the East Texas teams when the realignment is announced in February. Or do you think they will keep it the way it is now? Just wondering what your thoughts are? My son goes to Klein Collins and Lufkin is in the same district. I just find that odd. I also find it odd that Spring and Kingwood are grouped with Beaumont.

I sure hope so...

I too long for the old East Texas district...

Things just ain't the same without it.

If you were at JT in '78...you were almost there with Earl huh?
That must have been awesome.

Didn't you go to John-Tyler when Waco Richfield had Alfred Anderson at QB and beat JT?

It is not likely as Longview, Lufkin, and Tyler Lee have solid 5A numbers with John Tyler being close to the cutoff. The rest should stay in 4A. I think most expect Lufkin to move to the Spring district and I guess the Lobos and the Tyler schools will stay put or at least stay put in the Metroplex.
