I can respect any team that gives Lufkin a run from our money. I was waiting for Lufkin to put the game away but they never did. There was one point wen Hewitt Broke on a Curl and had it in his hands nd dropped it and that would have been six. But hats off HH good game that is just what we needed as a wake. up call.

Thanks for the respect it took us all season to get it but we came a long way this season, i knew this was gonna be a good game i knew our coaches had us prepared our schemes are what kept us in the game especially on defense, i hard to imagine playing a team more talented than that in high school football.

Outstanding game HB77 should have won. Purple Nation about a wake call this was no wake call. You final played a good team and should have lost. Because hes overreacting that we beat a team yesterday that was not at full strength mentally or physically in my opinion. The score would've been closer had they not given up. Anyway, believe me Heights, most Cove fans respect what you guys did a great deal, and we know Lufkin is a good football team. The players won't overlook the next opponent the way the fans are. Wow. First of all, I'm hoping you're not actually a student of Copperas Cove or -- even worse -- a graduate. Your English teacher would die from shame. ("Give me a brake"?)

I'd address some of your other grammatical/spelling/structural errors, but life is short and I don't have that much time over the next few weeks. (Or would that be "weaks"?)

But possibly your worst error contained in your post is in your evaluation (that means "judgement") of the Lufkin Panther football team. I won't get into all the whys and why nots, but let's just see how the rest of the playoffs progress (that means "move along"). If indeed Copperas Cove manages to make it into the late rounds, you and your friends can all gather together and have a few beers while reminiscing (that means "remembering") over your great season.

If not, maybe you could check into a few summer school English classes.

They are EXTREMELY well coached. The KF kids were calling out what play Cove was about to run by formation recognition and down and distance tendency and Cove was STILL getting 9 yards. They were impressive.

Congrats Cove. I wish you guys the best of luck the rest of the way. After watching Leander in Austin on Friday night, you guys won't have ANY problem with them.

There is NO way to rationalize which is the better team unless Cove & lufkin play one another. My opinion comes from the simple fact that I've seen KF play both lufkin & Cove. No doubt lufkin beat KF, there is no need in beating that dead horse. My point was that Cove didn't just beat KF - they obliterated them. Regardless of how you see the KF lufkin game this year, there were times that KF's D made some great plays versus lufkin. Cove on the other hand only had ONE play that was for minus yards.

I listened to the inet broadcast of the LP/HH game. I don't know anything about LP except they were 10-0. I know enough about HH. LP beat them. I'm not sure if they are overrated. I don't know if they were just sleepwalking a bit. But, they didn't have their A game apparently and they still won. It's all about the W.

First thing this was supposed to be a posting for HH, not Cove vs Lufkin smack.

I don't give a damn about Lufkin FB or any other school for that matter. Cove is good and i support them. Lufkin is good. AMC, and many others are good. Who cares, lets worry about the next opponent and if the luck runs its course maybe Cove and Lufkin can play and then some supporters can shut the hell up about which team is better. No matter who wins if it happens, depending on the outcome, some would go back and say they have more D1 athletes, better coaches, more state titles and the list goes on and on.

Protect-this-House, Did you drive to Lufkin on a Wednesday night to watch the Lufkin - Klein Forest game? If you did, you were only 1 of the 35 fans that showed up to watch them. The score was 37-14 at the beginning of the 4th quarter, then Lufkin put in their subsitutes and KF scored a meaningless TD. We were also playing 3 games in 11 days then because of Hurricane Rita. Lufkin was trying to rest players and still win because we only had 4 days seperating games and very limited practice time because we had 10,000 evacuees living in town and at the school. You need to look at the circumstances before you pop off the top of your head.

To the Heightsboy 77, great game yesterday, my hat is off to your team, you have my full respect. Good Luck.

No one talked trash to HH after COVE beat you. All the smack was before the game like it always is. It was a district game. This is the playoffs and everyone wanted HH, COVE, and AMC to do well and represent 13-5A. HH played a heck of a game I know fans from both sides have said that. There are some knuckleheads up here that might say Lufkin sucks but the majority of people know that is not a sentiment shared by most COVE fans. COVE will be concentrating on Leander next. All that possible matchups down the road is still just that...a possiblility.

Yes, I was at the game. Please tell my exactly whom did lufkin "rest" for the game? I'll pull the tape out to check. YES lufkin rested some of their players in the 4th, & yes KF scored a late TD. IF KF was so bad then why was that the CLOSEST district game lufkin played? A little reminder for you, KF had the SAME practice & game schedule to deal with that lufkin did PLUS they had to travel to lufkin on a Monday to play, so don't use that as an argument.

Cove beat KF by 50 & guess what, they started subing their starters out in the 3rd quarter & was STILL putting points on the board. I'm telling you lufkin fans, if you haven't seen Cove play live, you don't have any idea how good they are. It is the playoffs & ANY team can lay an egg, but as athletic, focused, and well coached as the Cove team is I would be competely SHOCKED if they didn't continue to advance VERY deep in the playoffs.

I get so tired of insane bickering over nothing that matters or will make a differnce in a future game. We are talking about kids playing football here and it is if some of the fans think that arguing a stupid point will swing a game in someones favor on this site.

I was watching the replay of HH and Lufkin Friday night. You may have heard about this play. HH was driving and their rb gets loose on a good run down to the LP 10. Our safety knocks the ball loose from behind toward the goal line - two Lufkin defenders scramble for the loose ball at the 7, but are beaten to it by an o-lineman downfield. The biggest "hustle" play by an o-lineman I've seen in years. Who fell on that ball? None other than Heightsboy77!

A little late on the good play - but it was a great play HB77!!

That's why I've taught my son over the years that a good O-lineman has to be "around the ball" when your guy is being tackled. Number one, it shows hustle. Number two, you never know when you'll be able to provide one more crucial block. But, number three, you might recover a fumble.

Good job 77. I heard the game on the radio and I was thinking, "that's a heads up lineman that is playing his position the right way and with good hustle." Way too many linemen just stand near the line of scrimmage and watch play develop down field.
