I don't think O'Connor can hang with Judson - although I thought the same thing last year and O'Connor almost pulled it off !! I just don't think OC has the talent to compete with Judson. Also, the Rockets seem like they might be showing some flashes of the old Judson teams. I would expect a somewhat low scoring game say 21 - 10 Judson. Good luck to both teams and may the best team win !!

RR - I'm suprised to see you say that, but I definitely agree. Victoria is still finding themselves as a program. O'Connor just doesn't have the horses for a deep playoff run. I would be suprised to see O'Connor win. I never thought I would say this, but I hope Judson can regain some of the luster they have enjoyed over the last 20 years or so !! Now that it's playoff time I think they might be bringing their game to the next level - we will see in this game for sure !!

Judson should win this one.

The offense is a shadow of it's self compared to last year, but the defense is just as good, maybe even better. If the offense can get things in order it could be a very interesting playoff run.

Who has some insight on this O'Conner squad?

Oskie07
11-12-2005, 10:32 PM
I don't know about insight, but I know they have a young team. They have a poised quarterback who is the focus of their offense running and passing. They have a big O-line with decent RB's and receivers. Defensively, they are pretty sound with a stud DE and their secondary is pretty good. They just don't have many playmakers or experience on the team with their youth. They should be more of a force next year.

Can someone tell me what happened to #1. He was touted to be a shoein for Div 1 but has not lived up to that potential. He really looked bad on that end around Friday night when he put the ball on the ground and then acted like it was an incomplete pass. Go Rockets!!! We the faithful never count you out till the Fat Lady cranks up.

OC to young to do it this year still! They gave the Rockets one hell of a game last year and it could be a close one again. I think think CJs D is everybit as good as last year and their offense is going to pound it between the tackles like they should have done the entire year! Finally, CJ is getting healthy, and showing it!

Judson 28 OC 14

At times he looks like his head is somewhere else. He is probably the most physically gifted player on the field and definately has D1 talent, but apparently there is something going on because the coaches have not increased his role in the offense. If he were returning punts that would give him more opportunities to make an impact during the game, but they leave that to Tony Harp who is ok and will not muff the punt, but is really not a threat to take it to the house. My guess is they dont trust him and at this point probably never will. :(

This game should be interesting. Judson's defense will keep them any game that will be played this year. The question remains about the ofense, and the play calling. I did not thnk they played a very good offense football game on Friday and still have along way to go before anyone should feel they are coming around. I do not believe they have it in them to score 28+ points in any of the upcoming football games that they might be playing in. They ned to do more play acton passes and screen passess if you are going to play them 8 and 9 in the box. You can beat that Padron will have his team fired up for this game, and can make a statement with a victory.

#1 has been bothered by a bad ankle, which was ovious on the kick-off return for TD and long return against Seguin. Just a nagging injury that will get better when the season is over.

Promis you, Padron will use last year's game in some motivational way. Where, oh, where is a Guy Anderson type QB when you need him?!!!

well for one Judson is not a passing team and for two he is know to drop alot of passes if he could get to the point that he would hang onto everything thrown at him he would be dangerous but I agree I have felt all year that they should use him every play they can on offense. He has to much talent to be standing on the sideline when its 3rd and 10 but he has this year and I don't know why the coaches are doing that?????

Probably because the Judson coaches do not know we have the ball they are so bad.

The last question that I made was rhetorical. I think that they hate Judson because they are jealous. This is their best team in years and they feel that they would run through Region 4 and will probably be cut down early in Region 1. People do not realize that Region 4 is not the cakewalk people make it out to be. I mean it is probably the weakest region, but it is not that much weaker than all the others.

It is the weakest for overall average, but there are plenty of strong teams in SA. Just getting to the playoffs in 26-5A is a task. R4 wouldn't win a lot of semifinal games if it was that bad.

O'Connor will compete unlike Seguin, but I have to go with the 265! Judson was a pre-season top ten pick and they finished in a three way tie (advancing on points) for third in district 26-5A with Regan and Churchill at 4-3. Smithson Valley (loss to Churchill) and Madison (loss to SV) finished at 6-1 and were co-district champions. The 265 will sweep Region 4 in '05!

It was a lot of fun at times. We have guys around here with quick fuses and I used to laugh at how mad they would get at times. Sometimes I would throw stuff in just to get a reaction. I got a couple warnings from the KT's because people were mad and thinking about leaving. I never did get banned and called a truce a year ago. Since then, I've just posted like a madman and the fellow posters just came to understand I have a certain style and they don't get mad anymore. I have about 8500 posts in the last year since I stopped fighting.

Gotta love these polls and the comments...Where's Plano anyway? Judson has peaked at the right time...as they always seem to do. OC will compete and if they play the perfect game can win it. That's a big "if" knowing that OC is young....17 Soph's to give you a clue. My question is....Is this Judson's Swan Song as the effect of Wagner HS will really be felt next year? I see the shift in SA rolling towards OC the next couple of years with so many young kids already dressed on Varsity and OC's numbers rolling closer to 3500 students..my heart is with OC...but this game is at Judson..... I'd say Judson 28 - OC 27.9 in 3OT.......Good Luck to both and let's see SA area teams roll through state in both D1 and D2.....

Plano is north of Dallas in the sprawling Collin County.

I don't think the full effect of Wagner will be felt until 2007. Most of the juniors playing sports stayed at Judson and the Rockets will still have a good amount of seniors next year in football.

Judsons "D" is keeping them in these games an awful lot. If the offense can catch up just a little more it should be a very god team for the rest of the playoffs. The Oconnor game should be very good. This game could be a telling point of how could either team will be based on who wins. I give the experience factor to CJ. They have to keep improving in the OConnor and whoever they play from the Valley to be completely ready for region 3.

I'm not gonna lie! I think the OC Panthers have this game on lockdown! Yeah Judson is a good team but there not much anymore without Kyle Fox. Judson is gonna have to step up there A-game if they want to win. They're playing a team with a super strong defense and an offense that can move the ball every down. Judson might as well move there defensive backs to offense because the offense isn't gonna help. Oh and the Victoria Vipers, did you see the size of those guys compared to ours? And our boys still threw the Vipers a beating. Besides last years team almost pulled off a win against Judson, so there is no doubt in my mind they will do it this year. Coach Padron along with the other coaching staff, knows what needs to be done. So the only place the Judson Rockets will be blasting off to is back home to end their season. Sorry, you guys have a good team but just looking out for numero uno. The Panthers are coming and there bringing hell with em'!!

Good Luck to Both Teams

They will realize that they are not ready to play with the big boys soon enough and then we can give them hell. but until then let them believe what they want, after all what would the world be without dreams. Let them dream, SGP will turn it into a nightmare, and they will have to wake up and realize that beating a bunch of JV teams will not take you deep into the 5A playoffs. I was previously at Judson, I know their coaches, and now I keep up with them. Do I want Judson to win? Yes. Do I think it will be easy? No. O'Connor is a young team, but a very well coached team. I would compare the way they are coached to the way SV is coached. They will play hard, make few mistakes, and capitalize on your mistakes. Do not ever say that O'Connor does not have a chance going into a game.

Didn't O'Connor give a good game to Judson last year?

I would think it would be close but Judson is rolling right now.

Their offense is clicking and their defense is cliking and it couldn't have come at a better time.

I like Judson by 3 or more TD's.

Besides, O'Connor was down this year compared to last year.

If O'Connor can stop the run, which they really haven't proven they can do every game and force Judson to use their passing game, O'Connor should be able to pull out the win, Thats a BIG "if" for the defense though

Judson's defense is better than they were last year. Lead by a group of seniors including: Sobers, Jackson, Harp, and Houston. Also, the offense is starting to come around. At the beginning of the season we lost all-city OG Adolph Perez, then first play against Churchill we lost OT Marcus Dimando. Now with both of them healthy the running game will be able to flourish. About Derrick Williams #1, I don’t know why Rackley refuses to throw the ball to him he is tall enough to get over many defensive backs. I don’t think the problem is DW catching the ball, its Bouldin getting the ball to him for a game breaking play. If you watch Judson they do pass, but many of their passes are very short, and give the receiver room to make yards instead of Bouldin having to throw the ball that far. Don’t get me wrong I think Bouldin is a good QB, he is only a junior, and sometimes makes junior mistakes. This is the first year I have seen Judson have so many RB's. They are not very set at one RB, but they have Mendoza at full back and he is playing his heart out, gaining 5 yards when it looks like a loss. If the offense can start playing at the ROCKET LEVEL then you will defiantly see them in the state semis.

What if you removed the Valley, Corpus Cristi, and Laredo teams from the picture? Then I would think that R4 is at or near the top of the toughest. And really, what do those teams even mean when they rarely, if never make it out of the region (4a excluded of course, CC Calallen)!

Oh really? I thought that I read quite a bit about OC this year and the longest district winning streak in the area. Maybe I'm confused, but I didn't see a whole lot of ragging on OC when JJ broke that streak! When was OC considered the underdog? When you play SV, Madison, CJ? That is the only time that I've seen them as an underdog.

You are a young little whipper snapper that is quick to pop off at the mouth! Keep talking this smack and I'm sure that the Rockets Trainer will print some of it out to post in the fieldhouse before the game!

OC does stand a chance in this game, but if they make any mistakes at all, CJ will cash in on them, and visa versa. OC is young and I beleive this will show this week. However, on the other hand, the future definately looks bright for Helotes.

That is correct! I was excited that for the first time OC was starting to be recognized! I knew we were young and we have showed it a lot this season and I'm glad we are where we are at. as for the guy doing all that talking ( not wicked (but you could tone it down), the other one) he was probably one of the guys that was on the bench all year and this is how he gets his "Playing" in so that he feels good about himself, Apparently he wasn't a real listener of what Padron teaches. Besides I don't think OC has the right to talk smack until we get the BIG win, until then all we really can do is support our team and defend them, but not talk trash.

You are correct about the TOs in our game with Madison. What did Bucky or was it Bubba say, woulda, coulda, shoulda! LOl Hey, that's the breaks of the game if you don't take care of the ball, period. Like the Marshall Rams, everybody said they would be awesome and that they were state ranked and look what happened. Then OC wasn't going to be any good because they were so young, and they ended up coming through this season. So i mean no disrespect towards Judson. Yall have a good team. WP, very few people believed that the Rockets would make the playoffs after the Madison loss, but for the last two district games and Seguin game, Judson was the healthy for the 1st time since week 2. As I stated before not many teams could survive with 7-9 starters out for 5-6 games. Yes, the Rockets have struggled on offense, but the potential and capability is still there to explode. If they play with the intensity shown in the Reagan game, then Judson should win at least the next two games.

Coach Padron has done a fantastic job at OC. He will have those Panthers ready for Friday. Just be forewarned that teams have 10 TO's against Judson over the last 3 games.

OC has been playing with about 7 guys out for the past 5-6 weeks, so I guess both of the teams are finally getting healthy. Should be a good game with no excuses for the loser of this game. Thats a pretty stiff stat 10 TO's thats something to look out for! I can't wait!!!

Bubba is a perfect name for you. Might want to rethink your opinion concernng 8-5A . You have 3 schools with State Champions . All 3 teams won last week in the playoffs. 6 of the 8 teams were 5-5 or higer. Only Lewisville and Colony blew. They were a combined 1-19. That skews the entire district.
You just need to be man enough to give Plano props when they win on Saturday. I'll be looking!!

So basically, everything Bubba said is true...right. I'm sure if Plano does win..Im sure Bubba will not disappear. I m pretty sure he will have another team up his sleeve that will beat you guys. Judson will have to get it going on offense to win this game. O'Connor has a pretty good offense but I dont think their defense is all that good. Its good to see the Rockets running the ball again. man it was a long 8 weeks watching them try to throw the ball. It was like Bo Jackson mate with Rosanne. It just didnt look good and who wants to watch that!! Now I see the Rockets playing more like a Rocket team should. They are still not all that they should be but they are getting better...and that is the Rocket way! Good Luck..Im not gonna predict a winner or a score because everytime I have done that this season the Rockets didnt do so hot. One other thing to consider is that Coach Padron wont doesnt know the new coaches and all the new things like he knew last year. Padron knew Judsons offense and defense inside out. He is gonna have a lot more guessing this year than he did last year.

I am pretty sure that there are 4 schools a greater number than 3 that have won state championships. So that means 26-5A is better than 8-5A if you use the plainold's (PLANO) way of thinking. Last Friday night at least! :p I think they were pretty evenly matched, at least if you read the stats. Only one yard of offense seperated them at the end. The big overmatched stat was the 5 TOs and the 97 YD KO return! :(

I thought this was interesting....

O'Connor's RB has rushed for 760 yds as a RB

He has played 6 games at Running back and 4 of those games are 100+ yds or more. Also he has carried the ball 103 times. Thats 7.3 yds/carry. I'd say thats pretty good for a converted QB. Remember these numbers are for him just at RB, they don't count the 3 games in the non district play when he rotated as QB.

Rockets offense during the season did bog down and the team lost 4 games. During 3 of those losses the Rockets were playing without 7-9 starters. For the last 3 games Judson has outscored its opponents 80-13 with 6-7 of those starters back. Judson's defense during that same span has allowed opponents an average of 130 yards total offense, plus opponents fumbles or interceptions totaling 15 with Judson recovering or picks in 10 of those. O'Connor hasn't faced a defense like Judson's. If OC
attempts to pass get ready for INT's and the RB's better hang on tight to that pigskin. Reagan had an outstanding RB also, but after 2-3 fumbles, he was pulled.

Did you mean "won state championships", because you typed "one state championships". Now I'm sure it's just a typo, but I recall some poster from Plano heavily criticizing Judson's educational system because a Judson fan posted a message using slang. Just something to think about. And yes, Lewisville did hang one on the Rockets in the '96 state title game, but Judson gave Plano just as good a whooping in '93 as well. Go Rockets!!

There was no co-champions! SV won it!Just like Judson won third,if they didnt, the uil would`nt let them in the offs.

Noone is disputing that Lewisville beat Judson..pretty handily if I remember correctly. And Im not calling you names..I told a joke. If you assume that the joke is about you then you must be pretty sensitive. What does lewisville beating Judson have to do with anything? Now Judson beating Plano thats a different story. Its like Clemens saying (last year) Well Judson got beat by Westfield.....didnt they? You're from Plano and Im from Judson. We beat you and you are still upset about it. So in comes Lewisville...Yep they beat Judson(The score could have been 200-0 and it still wouldnt change the fact that Judson beat Plano..now would it?). But the fact still remains that Plano didnt. TSK..TSK.. I still don't know why a Plano fan is on the Judson thread bashing. Why all the hate? Hell, I've been cursed and flipped off and humilated (honking and hollering after a loss) many times and I can't make myself hate a team for what a few fans did. That's pretty shallow to me. I remember satnding at the exit of the Roosevelt Flower Mound game in '95. The Roosevelt kids were being like they are (don't have to elaborate) and the Marcus folks pulled out wads of green and shoved in thier faces. They just don't know how lucky they were that they made it to thier cars. The point is, it doesn't matter and all that money and education will buy you absolutely nothing on the field. So, if that's all you've got it only shows how immature you really are. After you grow up, come on back and let's CONVERSE a little bit.
PS
I hope you don't raise your kids to act and think like you do because they'll be the ones spitting on people in the future if you do!

Williams was injured in the SV game. I saw the play but couldn't see where the hit occurred because of the players standing in the way. Some of them claimed it was a hit out of bounds. There was no flag so I don't think there is too much to that. Even if the boy can't catch as good as some think he should, he can sure light up the field on kick-off returns! If they could get him in the game a little more, the offense would be just fine.

Outstanding game!!! Rockets jump out to a 17-0 lead, then 3 touchdowns are scored in the final two minutes of the 1st half. After OC scored, Judson fumbles on next possession and OC scores with 14 seconds left in the half; OC kicks off & Judson runs it back 95 yards for a TD, 23-14. OC recovers onside kick to start 2nd half, then scores on that possession. Rockets answer with a TD, then OC comes back & scores agains with 8 minutes left in the game. Rockets intercept with 35 seconds left in the game to preserve victory. Judson has over 300 yards offense. OC played an outstanding game in the middle two quarters. They have a ton of players coming back next year & will be a tough ballclub. Congrats to Coach Padron and his players on a great season and game. Great job Rockets!!! i know danny padron is a great coach b/c he's an ol' judson guy and has done wonders at o'connor. but, i gotta tell you, i couldn't believe he decided to kick it deep to the rockets with only a few seconds left in the first half. not a good call.

i'm glad he did . . .

The funny part of this is that Judson has 6 of their own. I think 9 total in the district. Lonny...stats please...Judson vs Plano in the Texas 5A state playoffs. Who has the better numbers. Who has won more championships and been to the finals more..semi's more...come on I know you have it!!

I believe Lewisville spanked Judson Pretty bold/stupid statement from a guy in Plano...dont you think.

My only question is this.....What do you a dumba$$ from Plano Texas............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .....You call him a Plano Dumba$$!!! Good Luck to all still playing!!!
I'll give you what I can with me not having my books over here.

Judson 6-3 in 5A title games.

Plano 3-1 in 5A title games, with the loss to Judson.
Plano 1-1 in 4A title games and as the biggest classification.
Plano 4-2 in largest classification title games.
Plano 1-0 in 3A title games.
Plano 2-0 in 2A title games.
Plano 7-2 in all title games.

26-5A in all title games:
Judson 6-3
Madison 0-0
Reagan 0-0
Smithson Valley 0-3
Lee 1-2
Churchill 1-0
MacArthur 0-1
Roosevelt 1-0

26-5A 9-9 overall

8-5A in title games:
Plano 7-2 with the Judson loss
Lewisville 2-1
Plano West 0-0
Plano East 0-0
Allen 0-0
Flower Mound 0-0
Flower Mound Marcus 1-1 with a loss to Roosevelt
The Colony 0-0

8-5A 10-4 overall. I give the advantage to 26-5A with the 2 head-to-head wins and 4 more title games.

Judson has 14 semifinals. I don't know how many Plano has, but it's probably around Judson's number. I still give Judson the advantage because they've been much better at the highest level and more recently.

There was no co-champions! SV won it!Just like Judson won third,if they didnt, the uil would`nt let them in the offs.
Each district looks at it differently. They did tie for first. Maybe 26 said SV is the champs, but they might've just awarded the #1 seed in 26-5A to SV.

Isn't it true. Didn't Lewisville run over Judson? Yes they did. I guess hearing the truth that Judson did lose and lose badly gets you upset and you have to result to calling me names. You can do better than that.
They're upset because it's weak that you bring in another team to make you feel better.

yeah...if madison really believes that their co-champions,i guess they can believe that. But, when you lost to the proverbial other "co-champ" We all know the real champ is SV.And will prove it again,if we have too, if we meet again. :)

I don't care what anybody says, OC gave Judson one hell of a game tonight. All you Judson fans have to admit that they were sweatin' towards the end. It was a good game and nobody can say O'Connor didn't come to play. Congratulations to Judson and they better win the damn state!!! Good luck to all the Judson players as they continue on to rep region 4!!!! Congrats to all the OC players on a great season as well!
Here's my take on O'Connor. They started slow, but were rolling in district until that Jay game. They aren't as bad as the Jay game showed and Jay isn't as good as they played that night. I'm happy Judson beat a team that knows how prepare for the Rockets.

Is that your way of complimenting the Panthers? If it is I'll take it! thanks Lonny

I would like to say what a good team OC had last night. As a rocket fan I knew that their coaching staff would find a way to keep them in the game. Oc has one of the best coaches in the city if not the best and I feel sorry for any team that plays them next year period. The future is bright for at least the next two years at OC, and again you played a great game.

You're welcome. I think you guys have a good program. Some people get confused between me saying a team will lose and how good I think their team is. It's all a matter of if I think your team is better than mine. O'Connor can be better than over 220 of 244 teams in 5A, but that doesn't mean they'll beat Judson.

True, but the expierence all of the young players had this year will make all the difference in the world next year. I can't wait till then!

[QUOTE=Plano Wildcat Fan]If your so sure who has one state championships in 265 other than Judson? 8-5a Has a combined 10 State champions from Plano, Lewisville and Marcus. I believe Lewisville spanked Judson in one of their title games. :

1993 state champs Converse Judson 36 Plano 13

Deal with it.
