:p Right on, Fan. How about that game! The Owls looked a little jittery at first, and the big linemen for JT were tough. Mr. Sloan must be still dinged up, but he may have a problem getting his job back (Voss)! Can you believe some of the stuff on here coming out of our friends in 125a? They get swept out of the playoffs, and "the best teams didnt win, it was the refs, should have played in east Texas" bla bla bla. Jt was good, very good. But Rowlett is better. ( as was South, Ennis, and Carter). I think we could have told the Longview folks about a good young QB, with good recievers, and a strong D, that South has. But, they above us and looking down the road to another of there " elite" east Texas teams, and SLC. Now they are after the coach, because they lost to a team that didnt have thier talent. Wierd! We have another good one ahead of us. May the best team (and TEAMS) win, as they did today :D

Garland lost the pre-season match up 21-14, but I can assure you the team has adapted to many changes during the year that will make this game a very interesting match-up.

Garland went without star running back Dante Sloan for much of the regular season, causing the offensive scheme to change quite a bit since that first Carter game. In the pre-season Carter game, Sloan was handed the ball 22 times and was extremely focused on by the Carter D. This week against Cujo, Sloan was hardly a part of the offense, with 8 touches. It's not quite the same team, which benefits Garland.

Another thing I took notice of about this upcoming match-up, is the lack of challenging opponents Carter has had to face this year since their final pre-season game against Garland. They haven't played a challenging team once since then (esp. noted if you look at the scores), and I hope they don't come into this game just hoping to coast through like they have for the past 7 weeks. I'm fairly positive they won't overlook Garland and should show up for this game, because they know they could have been beaten by Garland in pre-season had Garland been able to capitalize on multiple 4th quarter turnovers by Carter.

To address the statement "JT should have won this game," I would say that if they absolutely SHOULD have won the game, then they would have closed out. JT made numerous, numerous mistakes in the game, and like the Carter game earlier this year, Garland failed to capitalize time and time again. But Garland showed great poise and character in the 4th, finally making something happen off of JT mistakes, something they failed to do against Carter. I believe that JT's piling up of bad snaps, bad pitches, and whatnot really bit them in the butt, and a playoff team cannot afford to continue to do those things. So I don't necessarily think JT 'should' have won, because they opened the door countless times for Garland, and while they held the Owls in quarters 1-3, Cujo didn't show up in quarter 4 when it was most needed.

Finally, on a side note, Garland seemed to be much more disciplined this week, taking ZERO penalties, and turning the ball over just once.

Sorry for the long post, critics are welcome, and gg to the JT team who was very talented. Hope to see the Owls step up their game and play solid for 4 full quarters this week against Carter. :)

Wow dude, welcome to the board

You made excellent posts and I'm glad to have you on here...I didn't realize the penalty thing until you mentioned it so I especially should eat some crow cause I pretty much single handedly slapped our team in the face (pardon the pun) about penalties.

I think this will be a very good game again. In the 1st game if you look back at most of the post, Carter was going to be blownout by Garland. I never worry about what everybody is saying just like Garland shouldn't worry this time. I feel that there are areas that both Garland and Carter has improved on since they last met. So we can not just focus on what our own teams have done, but will what we improved on be better than what our opponent has improved on? Last game I felt that Carter won a terrible game with the turnovers and penalties, but I don't see Carter playing that same game just as Garland will be a big time opponent and will have a big time game plan against Carter. Good luck guys. When we first met I stated that these two teams are overlooked. One of us will continue after this week.
EVERYONE, TAKE SHELTER FROM THE STORM!!!

True, one of these teams is going on I just hope it will be the team wearing black and gold. Whoever wins will have one tough 3rd round game because this game will be PHYSICAL! These teams are gonna kill each other! There will be some serious hitting going on ouht there.

Most of those who thought Carter would be blown out only thought that because Garland had blown them out the year before. Many of us knew that it would be a slobberknocker, which it was. Garland had their chances and could not capitalize, partly becasue Carter prevented them from doing so.

This game will be another slobberknocker. Turnovers will be huge. The defenses will be in the spotlight. Lets get it ON!!!!

The first game was pay back for the Owls big win in 04. The Cowboys were mad at us, and it showed. This will be the best of three game, if nothong else. I hate that its at Texas Stadium in the first place, but at 6 PM?! Nobody goes anywhere at 6PM around here unless they have to. Iwish it had been a home and home flip. Like I have said, I would rather see the game in the Carter High School parking lot. Just not after dark

Hey owlfans! I know the game is early and it will be tough for anyone with work and traffic to get out there on time but we have to bring the fan base for this one!! So let's all try to make it to where we can get out there no matter what on time! I know me and my buddies are leaving right after 4th period to get out there and have some time for tailgating! I CANT WAIT!!!!

Yes, we have the Red Storm jerseys in white and red. I love to see us wear the red on red, but the white on white Red Storm uni's were pretty tight on Friday.

I don't know who is going to be home at this game.

I really hate that the game is at the "Hole-in-the-Top" stadium! That 6:00 clock time is not cool!!

This is my main concern as a STORM Tracker. However the Cowboys have played the Owls this year so it's not like they don't have a clue to what to expect.

Does anybody know if Chauncey got hurt for the Owls? He was limping during the first half against TJT. Does anybody know why Sloan was limited during the game either? Was he just hurt? I asked him and he said thats why but I didnt know if it was a coaches decision.

Garland needs to play like they did in fourth quarter every quarter this week and from now on.

Don't know about Aguirrie(sp?) - I saw him limping too. Sloan is still getting over the ankle injury from the Rowlett game. Coaches said he would be between 70-80 percent for the JT game. Another week to heal, and he should be ready this week.

Malcom Williams gets his cast removed Monday - he probably won't be able to go until next week, though...

Garland and Carter played earlier this year. Carter won 21-14, but don't take that to mean a whole lot. That was Garland's current QB's second game of the season because he started out as a backup. He has matured and grown into a pretty good athlete if I do say so myself. Also, against Carter, we were a fairly if not entirely 1 dimensional offense...run it to D. Sloan (#40). He was out for 4 games during the season so our offense had to retool some things to the point that we are now a lot more balanced offense (before I would have sat about 95 rush, 5 pass and now I's say 65-75 rush and 25-35 pass). We have discovered the Tight End this seasona dn we have 2 fairly talented TE's...I don't know much about Carter except they haven't played a very good opponent for a loooooong time and Garland has...

I will tell you from a Carter fans perspective. It was a great win for Carter considering their 3 fumbles, many penalties, and one busted coverage where our corner fell down and Garland scored a toucdown. I'm not harping on our negatives, but I think Carter has overcome those mishaps just as Garland did with a QB that wasn't at the maturity level that he is now. Our defense is what sealed the victory with Carter's QB Michael Crabtree playing the corner position and making a couple of big time 3rd down stops. My opinion is that Carter played a very terrible game, and still pulled it off. I expect some major changes for Carter's advantage as well. I also think the whole weak district thing is overrated. It's playofftime and district is over. I don't see either Garland or Carter playing a big time district, although Garland would have a stronger district, but that is all irrelavent at this point. It's do or die baby!

Black&Gold06
11-13-2005, 09:35 PM
I wouldnt say that either district is Big-Time either but you did just see Garland beat TJT and South Garland beat Longview...

Chauncy is hurt, but i dont think its serious. I saw him tonight at the field house getting treatment and all they did was make him do the bike and they iced his knee for 30 min, and he seemed to be walking just fine. Dante will be ready to go for Carter. I talked to the head trainer and he said that Malcom prob. wont be back for this game

just some updates for yall
